Awesome video mate... i was speaking to someone they said the elements blow quite regularly. i was worried it was going to be hard but you made it look easy... put my mind at rest for sure thank you.
Brilliant simple step by step video - super helpful and full of little tips and tricks. I was looking to book mine in to fix it but will have a go myself armed with this. Cheers legend!
Just done mine following your video guide. All went well except the old element was a bitch to get out taking quite a bit of prising and brute force.. New one went in no problem.
Watched you video before Installing. Thank you very much. Especially about the advice about loosing nut. I put a cloth under the area to catch when it did fall twice. Magnetic screw driver used to pick up. 6 mm and 5.5 were the sockets I needed to.use . Very awkward positioning but got it eventually. Cherrs
Very useful. I replaced my element and a couple of points that some might find useful. I was able to get element out and new one inserted without removing the fuse board. Secondly to replace the nuts on the new element insert a bit of blue tack into socket then push nut into socket where it will remain without falling out. All the other bits of the video were useful and accurate.
Thank you for this, I have been looking for a guide for ages. I'm doing the same job this weekend, except the thermostat on my element has gone on me but you have to replace the entire element as its one unit.
good video, i think the best way to join the cable would to have cut about 8 inches off the original lead from the old element and either soldered it to the new lead from the new element or use a chocbox to join the old lead to the new, either way you would have the original connector on the lead from the element as sometimes you can disconnect this plug to reset the element, also means if you have to replace again down the line it would make it easier
Very nice video! If you kindly tell me where to find the element in reasonable price. Here in Australia online is more than$300. The voltage should be 230 AC.
I think your supposed to put thermal paste on the sensor so it makes good contact. Just pulled mine apart and it looks like it had some on it from factory fit up. Thanks for sharing. I was fortunate my problem was a dusty burner.
Hi I have a pennine pathfinder 2001 and I want to fit a bullfinch outside shower…. I have the same Trauma water heater I would like to insert 2 tees for the shower…if you could please advise me on the best place to cut the tees in….or is it Possible to place them on the sink pipes…Many Thanks. Gerard.
Great Video! I've changed mine over and it works as it should on the drive however, when on site it trips the van or both the van and the pitch fuse box? I'm currently running it on gas as I don't know what to do next...Thanks for spending the time in showing your step by step replacement!
@@ifyounevertryyouneverlearn3156 Hi, yes I'm using the same cable and have checked all plugs are earthed, etc. It's only a 300w heater as well. It's a real strange one that I can't get to the bottom of. Thank you for your response.
Brilliant video. As a newcomer to caravans I'd like to congratulate Truma for the worst designed, worst to service, low quality crap I've ever come across.
Great video , really helpful . Mine is not blowing the fuse , I still have 230 v to the element but no hot water. Do you think it is still a faulty element ? Thanks
I would think so. You can test the element by using a multimeter on the continuity setting. If its faulty you will not get a reading. Similar to testing a light bulb 💡
Hello mate, can you tell me how to test the element to check that is is blown.? I have no hot water but it's not tripping the electrics when I switch it on. Many thanks
Could be a couple of things. The caravan in the video had a set of visible fuses where the earth trip fuse is. Have you checked these ? Personally I would open the electrical connection point that connects to the element and test for power. If 240v at the connection then element blown. If no power start working backwards to the fuse board.
Hi my water heater is overflowing from the red connection and also from the vent at the bottom that discharges to the outside Can any body help Thank you in advance
@@ifyounevertryyouneverlearn3156 thanks think i might have a problem with mine as its clicks off and don't heat the water but if you leave it for some time it works again for a couple of hours
the issue i have with mine is that when you switch it on, it will bring the water up to temperature, but then it wont turn back on to maintain the temperature so i need to set an alarm on my phone so i know when to go for a shower haa. hopfully this week i will replace the element with thermostat thank you
@@steveedwards1657 Hi Steve, i havent replaced it just yet, as i went for a new gas cylinder with winter coming. i forgot just how good the boiler is on gas. even if it cost me an eye watering £52 to exchange a 19kg cylinder D: i should look into getting a new element next as it will help save the expensive gas
@@steveedwards1657 looking at the price of a new element, i think im going to look into trying to find an alternative thermostat switch because yjr heating element itself works fine, just the little temp switch that's faulty. i cant justify the £100+ price tag
@@steveedwards1657 hi i know its a while since you posted this, did you ever sort your thermostat out / elemnet by replacing the element many thanks ste
@@stehume hiya. I replaced the element and it worked a couple of times then stopped. I traced it back to the switch which was intermittently cutting out so replaced that and all good since.
We had no hot water and when I checked the fuse had tripped. A quick question on Google said to check the element first. Every time I tried to reset the fuse it tripped straight out.
You electrical connections are not safe! These cables should be connected using a terminal block which should then be placed in a coffin box and then tie wrapped.
