David Vazquez, Clinton was a terribly uninspiring candidate, who basically approached the campaign with a sense of entitlement, thinking she could stand for nothing and coast in on Obama’s coattails. But because she was the heir apparent for so long, it left a lot of time for the right wing to build her up as a boogie man based on all sorts of fake narratives, conspiracy theories, innuendo, outright lies, and some legit bad things. She definitely wouldn’t have been my first choice, but if she was president now, the economy would still be where it is, as much wall would have been built as under Trump, but Iran would still be in compliance with the nuclear deal, all the industries Trump promised to help wouldn’t have spent the last two years suffering under tariffs, people at the border would be treated more humanely, our international alliances wouldn’t be frayed, the environment wouldn’t be getting intentionally decimated at the behest of large corporate sponsors and the constant embarrassing spectacle would be replaced with a dignified presence. So not my first choice at all, but I’m convinced “anybody but Trump” was always a better position than “anybody but Clinton.” She’d have been, ehh, okay. Anyway though, that’s all the past. He’s not running against Clinton in 2020.

Crossing the border illegally is a misdemeanor civil offense, not a criminal offense. It is also perfectly legal to present yourself to border agents and ask for asylum.
