I am a white boy who lives and works in south Minneapolis. Somali people have always been so kind and respectful to me, very family-oriented, welcoming, and devout in their beliefs. It’s a shame that a lot of white people in the suburbs associate them with crime-ridden areas, etc.. if they just came out and experienced the culture and the people, I think they would see things differently- the Somali people that I’ve met are very loving people, hard working and kind. We are lucky to have their culture as part of the fabric of Minneapolis.

Minneapolis really has some of the best Somali food I've ever tasted.. it's a perfect fusion of North American and East African cuisine. They always look Somali, but some dishes taste like something from Longhorns, Applebee's, steak n shake or Red Robins.

Wow, Somalian food looks so good. I would love to try it one day. In Nigeria, we also eat sliced bananas with our Jollof rice to give it a balance of sweet & spicy. But usually instead of bananas, we’d fry sweet plantain. And when my mom makes spaghetti (we live in America), she makes it spicy like theirs. I don’t know what it is with Africans and spicy food
