After the launch of Somali Neighborhood video clips on RU-vid, we had Somali Food Party in Tokyo! Our producer & supervisor Yurico, who learned how to cook Somali food in Minneapolis, made several Somali food for Tokyoites. And we all loved them!

Somalis should really appreciate the way you portray a positive image of somali cousine and in general the somali culture. i'm glad you enjoyed the food with so many people, also a big thumbs up for Yurico for putting in the effort in making the food! It’s honestly so amazing to see Japanese people who are from Japan being so interested in our culture and trying the food, and the most awesome part, trying to make it. I’m personally a Somali/American who has always loved Japan and loves the culture and hopes to one day teach English and live there. @@EthnicNeighborhoods Great episode. I honest-to-goodness love Japanese culture it is a very honourable and stately culture. It reminds me of much of my own. We even share some linguistic phrases that are similar. *Japanese: わからないよう。(wakarana yo - I don't know)* *Somali: Ma garanaa yo - I don't know.* Yuri here is a good channel for learning Somali food. It's owned by a Somali family in Toronto, and they have a restaurant by the same name. ru-vid.com Making the anjeelo round, without holes, symmetrical, with sufficient perforations to catch the sauce and yet with a crispy bottom - it is hard. Also making camel meat soft and juicy is very difficult. This is why Somali families always prefer young camels.
