Scrolling for hours trying to find a video to explain the difference of colour perception on different spectacle lenses, this is the only video so far, that's actually helpful.

thank you so much for making this video; being back in a school with fluorescent lights and white walls has been absolute torture and i've been trying to find something to help, this was very informative!

Yeah, I always got headaches from bright lights or when things reflect, they either hurt my eyes or all the lights make it difficult to not have a headache everyday. I have ADHD but I hope I can still buy some.

I don't generally comment, but it seems like maybe I have something worth contributing here... For decades, I just reasoned I have sensitive eyes and put up with it. I don't know why it took so long for it to occur to me that I have some control over the situation, with sunglasses (and hats/caps/hoods). I've experimented with several shades (blue, green, black, etc), and mirrored purple is my current overall favorite by far for outdoors. Additionally, I have found the slightly wrap-around style of sports glasses really helps. I am working on having a variety of glasses for specific situations, though. I got some graduated (darker at the top, lighter towards the bottom) brown lenses for driving; I haven't decided what I think of them. 😛 I was also recently able to get some pink transition lenses in my prescription for running and biking in the woods, and those things make me feel like I'm living in a whole different brain, everything feels so clear and calm instead of jumbled and crazy; it's kind of hard to explain but I *love* them. I've wondered if something in a lighter tint might be helpful with fluorescent lighting, so I'm really interested to try that. I also appreciate your point that it's not necessarily just light but visual input that can get overwhelming. You also mentioned sharing links. In the US, at least, I've liked zennioptical.com for cheap and sportrx.com for high-quality and sport-specific glasses. My go-to everyday sunglasses (the purple ones) are just some cheap Piranhas from Walmart. Anyway, thank you for sharing your experience!

I feel really tired when I spend time anywhere the light is too bright. That seems to be the opposite of the way it should work, but it's a different kind of tiredness. Polarised lenses seem to work better than anything else, but I haven't tried coloured lenses.

thank you, great explanation very easy to understand:) i recently found out im autistic and also recently found out that the world is so much less loud and bright for neurotypicals. it blows my mind that i never before thought about using objects or tools to make me feel safer in the world. i just dealt with it because i thought everyone else did too. got my first pair of ear defenders and oh my god my anxiety has improved so much. i find it very hard going out in public especially when there’s people and they have helped more than i would have ever expected. if anyone has good recommendations for light reducing glasses plz reply to this comment:)

I love the way you explained your experience with these so calm and clearly. :) Recently I discovered that I had bad eye sight. I got this fixed which already helped me with my eye straining, but having ordered (pink) photochromatic glasses I found that I liked the colours a lot! (but sadly it never really shines so they're not active as much as I hoped). This video helped me see that colours actually didn't matter but rather the difference in light strength. I'm definitely going to keep intensity in mind when ordering new prescription tinted glasses. :)

I’d love to see you compare each of these more in depth for those of us who plan to order prescription glasses. I’m tempted to order lightly colored rose lenses because of the phrase of wearing rose colored glasses making the world look more optimistic. I also want to order dark purple sunglasses, but there is basically no information out there.

For me. I feel the same. Also, blue light blocking or photochromic lenses (blue light blocking included) help me by taking away the brightness, and blueish-ness of fluorescent, LED, or electronic devices. For electronic devices, they make reading and actually finish reading comfortable.

Ended up watching this video because I’ve only recently realized I’m on the spectrum but it’s kind of ruined my life as far as education. I get really bad stomach problems when I’m around bright light and it’s really hard to focus. But i love learning so its frustrating. The idea of tinted lens you’ve got me feeling more confident about going back to school, thank you

So I have issues with cold blues, whites, fluorescent at work, a lot of problems with desktop as their easy eye is more of a blurry burnt orange. I noticed the more opaque yellow orange ones and really liked that color and seems like lighting I use most everywhere that is easy on my eyes. May I know the color of that?

Yeah when I hear others talk about visual differences most tend to focus on light... but it's waaaay more than just light that can be an issue! Or an advantage... I know autistic people are generally better at differentiating between colours :)

I have autism and experience severe issues with screens and I’m trying to figure out what professionals to talk to about how to figure out what the problem is (Ex. Blue light, flicker rate, needing a specific color filter, etc). Do you know what type of professional can help me figure this out? I don’t have the money to trial and error a ton of different products.

Light seems to have ruined my life I've got constant nausea and very bad migraines. It Looks like the lights are constantly strobing. I'm trying to train myself to handle leaving the lights on all night. I'm autistic. I tell myself I've failed when I don't handle it. So far what I get when I do is a Severe headache that won't go with painkillers and bad nausea. I cry for hours the pain is brutal like cluster headache. Ive tried triptans they don't work. Make it worse. I don't know if it's even appropriate to take migraine medication if it's a sensory issue. Take topamax. It worked for a month then id stressful appointment and thought I must have imagined it. I wear sunglasses and tinted lenses but unfortunately I can see lights flicker.

Yellows I like. They make days seem more sunnier and nights feel more like twilight. Some yellows people wear for driving as they reduce glare and brighten up roads. Some yellows don’t though so maybe search for driving specific ones and try a few or go to an optician?
