Some words are natural tongue twisters, but not every word - I am upper intermediate level in Icelandic and Norse, and I can read Icelandic words that I know automatically and Icelandic words that I have seen before very fast!
Icelandic is a Germanic language, and Germanic languages are the easiest languages ever - I know that Norse languages may look very intimidating at first sight, but Icelandic and Norse are actually very easy to learn and speak, almost as easy as Dutch, and Dutch is the easiest language to learn, after English which is the easiest language ever created in every way!
Been following Hrafna for a year and a while I think now, and don't recall any softly spoken Icelandic video! Any chance she could have uploaded one before I joined? 🤔 Even looking back, I haven't seen anything! Hrafna doing Icelandic ASMR if you like...😉🇮🇸
Yes, such videos would be very helpful, especially if read slowly, and they should also have the hardcoded Icelandic subs (with text that is very easy to read) and optional English subs that can be translated to multiple target languages - they could be used for both active learning and relaxation!
Wow, Icelandic is out of this world! Here's a tongue twister from my native Czech: *Třistatřiatřicet stříbrných křepelek přeletělo přes třistatřiatřicet stříbrných střech.* (It means 333 silver doves flew over 333 silver roofs) Greetings from Czechia 🇨🇿
I'm not czech, but I found a different version which is more complex (I guess): "Tři sta třicet tři stříbrných stříkaček stříkalo přes tři sta třicet tři stříbrných střech". It looks quite hard according to me, expecially with all those ř...
@@polyglotemsmaru5731 yeah, I can feel the struggle 😂 but I'm sure he'll eventually be able to do it, if he loves you and either likes the czech language or likes phonetics (like I do, I'm studying linguistics at the university ahah). After all the ř is a unique czech sound (it does not exist in other languages, as far as I know) and it's pretty hard to get it right for someone who's not czech, unless they're trained / skilled.
@@cius96 for me is the best one "Prd krt skrz drn, zprv zhlt hrst zrn." I must copy that, because it was hard to write xdddd I can't say it. This is from czech too. And for me from czechia is hard to say that.
if you summon some, just say you summoned them for work,, and send them out fishing for moonrocks....on small boat...middle of the ocean...problem solved!
I hope 2020 is the year for you on RU-vid as well! I miss your videos, and you're one of my favorite creators! Also, yes, your voice speaking Icelandic is definitely ASMR. It makes my ears and brain feel so happy!
I am upper advanced level in Dutch and upper intermediate level in Icelandic and Norse and advanced level in Norwegian and intermediate level in Welsh - I highly recommend learning these heavenly languages 2gether, as they are way too pretty not to know!
I really love your accent when you speak English ! This is very new to me cause every other foreign accent in English irritates me but yours is very soft and feminine ! You are the first Icelandic woman I have seen in my life so now every time someone speaks with your accent I immediately think "oh she speaks like Hrafna" !
As Hrafna I'm so happy you're back! I've missed your videos so freaking muchh! Hope 2020 brings you happiness, health and luck for yourself and your close people💘 The light of the ring light is so good! I love it💘
I just found this channel, subscribed already and I want you to know that I love your videos! You are such a nice person, beautiful and inspiring. And... I love Iceland. I was there in 2018 and fell in love! I want to visit Iceland again in summer. Sending positive energy and warm hugs from Poland!
Welcome back. Unlike several other viewers I appreciated the first three minutes of "banter". Helped me to catch up with your expanding life and new horizons. Maybe this spring you and your boyfriend can take us on another adventure in the countryside.
Discovered this lovely, how smooth and aerial language, by listening to Víkingur Ólafsson's interpretations on the piano. I remember trying to pronounce his complete name, and Icelandic toponyms too, like Þingvellir and Egilsstaðir (the funniest try was with Svalbarðsstrandarhreppur)
@@steffanwamsley7575 Though I found them humourous (such as the inextricable Inkan chicken mention) they were also a bit surprising ("Islam and Isis will prevail" @ 10:54). Wow, RU-vid. As a linguistically impaired individual I would have enjoyed even a rough translation as expressions that convey no context are often hilarious and utterly baffling in English.
Hello and hope you are having a great day! I was wondering if maybe you could do a video (or just simply answer through a comment, I´m not picky) on how much budget should a person prepare for a visit, let´s say staying a week. Obviously just an estimate since it highly depends on the person himself, but it would be cool to have an estimate from someone local about shop prices, hotel/airbnb prices, car rental, eating out, best time to visit etc. Also you could maybe include some comparison on how much do you spend on just shopping and cooking vs eating out and give some more tips on what is a good idea to do for free (like your hiking videos) vs things that you should not miss even though they are not free. Thanks a lot!
Haha, that was funny! I'm only learning Icelandic but I could do some of the tungubrjót with the first time. But of course failed at some. 🤣🤣🤣 En ég elska íslensku meira með hverjum degi!! Kveðja frá Lettlandi!
I agree! *2020 will be your year* You have laid a good foundation and done your homework.-... And the lighting look better .It flatters you very nicely *=*
8:59 another good one. A lot of A’s at the end. I can try to make my own English version. I’ma Baka makina cakea witha lotsa suga and frostinga! I’m a Baker making a cake with lots of sugar and frosting! 🍰
It would be amazing if you will be able at some point, to make some more 'teaching icelandic' videos, but with lessons like, colors, months, days e.t.c. I love your language and here in Greece it's very hard to find someone to teach you! If you ever visit Greece, check out my island, Kos, i will happily show you arround, you will love it!! Thanks for all your great videos
Tongue Twister n°1: Trentatré Trentini andarono a Trento tutti e trentatré trotterellanti. Tongue Twister n°2: Tre tigri contro tre tigri (repeat it accelerating each time) Love from Italy :D
Yes your language is difficult to pronounce lol! I have been to your country twice and have had a big laugh trying to prounounce Icelandic words. Practice practice practice! Lol.
Hi Hrafna. I was born in the Canary Islands (Spain), and now I live and work in Madrid. I visited your country last summer and fell in love with it...as far as start thinking of moving there in the future...or at least go for more visits and continue exploring it. I'd like improve my english and start learning some Icelandic too. Do you know any way to do it...maybe getting in contact with somebody there who would be interested on learning spanish or something like that.... Any help or advise would be great. Thanks!.
It'd be even nicer if you could put those challenging tongue twisters down below the video👍 Sometimes I just question the logic behind tongue twisters. It seems as though they were made only to hurt your tongue. Mostly pointless but cool😂
These all sound like they mean something intelligent. And I’m over here reciting the only English tongue twister I can remember that my uncle thought it would be funny to teach me as a little kid. One smart fella, he felt smart. Two smart fellas they both felt smart. Three smart fellas, they all felt smart. With the end result being at least one of these fellas will smell fart if you say it enough times fast. 🤦♀️😂
Your boyfriend is truly a lucky man. Women such as you is hard to find with a wonderful personality. Best of luck with your studies and the best of your relationship. Also when i saw your videos working out i was truly impressed what you can do 💪 im even more motivated to train harder.🤙
I hope this doesn’t sound too shallow but I really like your makeup and hair compared to your early videos. I glad you are completing your degree. Best of fortunes.
7:10 as a French-German border inhabitant, I've learnt this at age 7, in German. Mindblowing. Also good luck for your exams, I'll pass mine in June too.
Italian tongue twister: “sopra la panca la capra campa, sotto la panca la capra crepa (on the bench the goat lives, under the bench the goat dies). It’s pronounced as it’s spelled and the r is exactly like the Icelandic one.
@@franctokyo5981 Ca suffit à rendre faux ton premier commentaire. De même que ton obstination a me répondre qui ironiquement contredit tes écrits. Tu veux que j'ai l'air de parler dans le vide ? Ne me réponds pas alors, ou mie7x supprime tes coms et alors tu auras eu raison.
