in the book, louisa dresses more childlike because she was assaulted by a man and its her way of protecting herself. Thats the reason she never left home so it makes the ending of her leaving and she dress sense shifting so much more powerful.
I loved that part of the book, it really granted a lot more to Louisa’s character. I know they probably removed that due to runtime and advertising of the movie but I always recommend ppl read the book after the movie
I’m slightly glad they removed the gang bang at Will’s castle that messed her up. While it added so much to the series it would’ve taken so much from the movie.
Everytime I see this cast I remember how Neville Longbottom once told a story about how he, Daenerys, and Finnick were in Wales filming this movie and they were taking a walk in the countryside. They ended up in a field with cows that started to stampede them, and Emilia Clark was too short to climb over the fence, so she told them to leave her and save themselves 💀 they helped her over and we’re fine but Mathew couldn’t help thinking how bad the headlines would have been the next morning if they had been overrun by stampeding cows 😭
4:19 The fact that Dylan *immediately* recognized Will's father as Tywin Lannister but it took him nearly 10 minutes in to realize Louisa was Daenerys. 😆
@@veru.krejci Eh, true. I suppose I've seen her as a brunette enough (such as here and in Solo) that I personally don't see too much of a difference. 🤷♀
The fact that there's a movie with Daenerys Targaryen (Game Of Thrones), Neville Longbottom (Harry Potter) and Finnick Odair (Hunger Games) is soooo funny 😄🤣
I have not seen this movie...I legit thought he was an ex-paralegal and thought he couldn't type anymore or something and that's what she was helping with...and then I completely forgot about it
there’s a chapter in the book where Lou explains why she dresses so extravagantly, a blurry memory in which when she was in high school, she was drinking with a bunch of boys and she was assaulted by them. therefore she changed her wardrobe choices to more quirkier so men would “leave her alone.”😢😢
26:27 very small thing, but early in the movie lou makes it pretty clear to patrick that she hates running, but when will’s in an emergency she runs without question
I fractured my knee back in March and found your channel during this time and have just been binge watching you. As weird as this sounds: it was nice watching movies “with someone” because the time has been incredibly lonely. Thanks Dylan 😊
You should watch "One Day". That'll give you something to cry about. I don't usually cry over stuff in movies, but that series left me sobbing, I'm not even exagerating.
the table building segment really reminded me that dylan is more than just a yapping head and torso with a mic, it is genuinely so absurd seeing him with legs on (also seeing him in full daylight instead of a room with all the light off???? since when did we have the budget for sunlight ???)
34:48 i’m just here to highlight that he wanted to let her go not because freedom was her dream but because it was HIS dream. he was living life to the literal fullest and had it all taken away and saw this girl who COULD be free and had potential to enjoy her life fully and he wanted that for her because he couldn’t have it
cried so hard alongside everyone in the theater when this movie first came out 😭 i will never get over the title, “ME before you” bc he chose himself and his old life over her and their potentially new happiness together 😢 speaks to how depressed he really was even tho he did love her
I used to agree with you but now I think the title refers to who Louisa was before him, how she was stuck in a small town and it was only meeting him that woke her up. I believe the second book in the series is called Me After You or something so it’s about Louisa’s journey breaking free from her fears, since she’s the protagonist
You have to read the book actually to understand it. The movie is quite different, like extremely different. Her character has a better backstory imo. And the title makes more sense.
Loved, how Dylan caught the mood of the ending so perfectly without knowing the book: Cause a new life really wasn't what Lou aspired, so she even ended up in a really deep hole after Will's death. So it really was just a heart wrenching ending, because she truly wanted to be with him and make him feel good. However, his perspective on the matter is equally understandable in my opinion. This really makes me want to re-read the book
I’m honestly surprised he didn’t catch on to the symbolism in about half her outfits or hairstyles being related to butterflies, symbolizing how she wants to spread her wings… but maybe it’s bc it’s my own spirit animal, so I was able to catch on pretty easily.
I don't think they put it in the movie but in the book his dad has a mistress. Right before the accident his dad was preparing to leave his mom but ended up staying with her to help care for their son after his accident. It added a deeper layer to his decision to end his own life because he knew it wasn't just him that was miserable but his parents as well.
I discovered this channel while sick in February 2024 and it quickly became my comfort channel. Thank you Dylan for your quick witted and informative movie directing commentaries.❤
7:31 "every time i speak, he looks at me like I'm stupid." - Louisa "you get used to people looking at you like that, I speak from experience" - Dylan A few seconds later...calls Will Trainor a "paralegal" for the 20th time! LOL!!! 😂😂😂
4:03 the fact that Dylan pinpointed the Lannister actor before Daenerys’ is so funny I’m waiting for the moment Dylan realizes that Daenerys’s boyfriend is Neville lol (but I don’t think he will lol) The audible promo I can’t😂
RIP to Dylan’s apartment, a lot of memories were made… Promoting sour patch kids, abandoning sour patch kids, the Twilight saga, Tangled, Harry Potter, and so many more. Here’s to an even better run in the new apartment ❤
God that made me sick to my stomach “I’ll be walking with you every step of the way” 😭😭😭 thank you for making it light with jokes. Can’t wait to continue following your journey! ❤
ngl this movie reminds me so much of the movie Intouchables. It's not a romance between the caretaker and the paraplegic man but it's still such a powerful movie and I love it so much
OMG, FINALLY!!! I got a recommendation for your channel again!!!! I've been waiting and I couldn't remember the name of this channel for the life of me. I feel like it's been a year since I've seen a review from here❤❤❤❤
@@chioma9639 dude, the last thing that made me *sob* was JATP with fugging Unsaid Emily! I know Dylan doesn't take suggestions and he wouldn't watch it all (tho he did binge the whole 1st season of Sabrina) but if he needs to cry...I did hear the rumors, I hope they do make it cause I've been trying to push down my love for this show cause I got way to attached to it. They got me listening to Austin and Ally songs on loop so I don't listen to UE and get even more depressed than I already am on the daily 🙃
I think my favourite part of this commentary is seeing Dylan giggling and smiling at the adorable parts of the movie and also feeling the despair we felt. Quoting Dylan - "This is sad" is what I felt at the end of the movie
9:46 The reason why will doesn’t fight back with her is because it was the first time someone spoke to him like a normal person. People always treated him like he was delicate and broken and Louisa was the first person who didn’t.
Cheer for joy at 13:04 lol! So cute! XD and it was cute :) "unreasonably peppy" hehe indeed. Lol the fact that Dylan goes from "I'm feeling something" to "pull it together!" to the high-pitched little "ah! oh! un!" in the space of about 5-10 seconds around 25:38 is something else. Dylan is definitely entering "a romance phase".
Definitely. The actors did an incredible job even with what little they were given, it would have been great to see them more. Although maybe not; I would have started sobbing way earlier. The slight shake in Charles Dance's voice already gets me.
I need Dylan’s reactions to all the romance classics: - A walk to Remember - The Notebook - Remember Me - The Vow - Love, Rosie - The Last Song ALL OF THEM 🤭 *just a PSA, Dylan (or anyone else) please don’t take this as a recommendations list, I just thought it would be fun to express how fund it would be. He doesn’t need to watch them!
@@nyxldxSame! I didn't even realize it's going to end that way and it destroyed me. But it's the movie where I really started to love Robert Pattinson.
This book has made me BAWL my eyes out. My family had been so concerned because I cried 2 days straight because of the book. I was also 17. I miss feeling feelings😭
The way I've been mentally preparing myself to read this book for years now, I just don't have it in me quite yet😂 I'm an avid reader, and crying for days about a book is so real. Honestly I've read some sad ones, but never something like this. The movie alone killed me, and I want to read the book so bad, but I just know it's going to take a hot second to recover. Think I'll do it when I have my 2 weeks leave from work and hope it's enough time
