This week I'm headed to Northern Michigan, my home state, on a winter road trip. My van was definitely not built with winter weather in mind, so let's see if I can get by and still have some fun.

Hi on ice or snow, turn your wheel the direction you want to go full lock keep handbrake on and gun it with front wheel drives, its not going to work as well trying to go up hill but it depends on the hill .

Hiking alone in winter is exactly how to end up on Missing 411. I’ve lost several friends to hiking alone. Please be careful and always let someone know your route.

Have you tried Manna Bread? It's spouted wheat and there are a few different styles. Try carrot raisin with sliced avocado on it. Mmmm Amazing!

If your not planning on doing a whole lot of winter camping you can forgo a inten$ive modification to your vane (insulating and some sort of independently powered or fuel air heater) and instead consult your inner child and build a blanket fort around your sleeping bag … in my minivan set up i sinply have a wooden dowel that i have that on one hand fits through the gap between the front seat and the head rest and on the back end fits through a loop in a line i have running from the left to right…. Over that i have a sheet, a breathable blanket, then a thick wool blanket or quilt like it is a three layer pup tent. This way the heat that is radiating away from me is held in somewhat in a bubble around me before escaping out into the cold van

Hey Erin, enjoying your RU-vid video. I'm from southwest MI and recognized where this vlog is located in northern MI. I have been up north in that area many times. It's beautiful in any of the seasons.

Hello fellow Michigander. I saw some familiar places in your vlog. The Mighty Mac was an easy one to spot. 🤩🌉 You didn't pick the best season to go for a swim. Wait until summer when the waters a bit warmer. 🏊‍♀ Sorry about the creepy van giving you the bad vibes. You played it well though, by not approaching until he left. Hello fellow Michigander!! Yes the Great Lakes are definitely best kept for swimming in the summer lol!! and unfortunately creepy people are all too common when traveling in my van :( can't let them ruin the fun though!

If you are concerned about your safety, Michigan (I think you said Michigan) is a shall issue state, and your permit is honored in most states (For your travels, no in Cali, Oregon and Illinois.)

I like Erin, a lot, and kudos on snagging a free $1000+ item but that makes this a "sponsored video," doesn't it? I mean, I don't think you used it in the video but you showed it off, talked effusively about how great it is for a few minutes and made me wish I had one. That's an AD! And now I feel like I was duped because RU-vid already inundates me with ads, so ads within ads is just too much.
