*When you spend over $400 on a recreation of a celebrity dress that Micarah Tewers made in an RV just using a thrifted dress and whole load of tulle and it still looked way better.*
I don’t think any of these dresses look like the originals. I think each one looks like a cheap knock off, that almost $500 dress definitely doesn’t look worth $500 either, I know how much tulle should be in that dress to give it the volume etc, you would still need to wear a hoop skirt under it to give it the correct volume
Well I kind of agree ( especially with the Zendaya one) but to be honest some of them were like less worse than others😂. Like for example, the Ariana Grande one wasn't that bad the only thing I would say is since Ariana Grande used a hoop it widened it a bit more and also to add a little more tule to the bottom to make it more puffy. The one that she bought looked a little thin and fell flat but that's not her fault though. I actually think the Ariana Grande one was the closest matching. As for the Jenner one, it was actually not that bad the only criticism I have is for the dress to be slightly shorter and the sleeves to be more puffy. The Lady Gaga one is really just the pants to be a different material and the overall color to be a little creamer.(sorry for the long comment lol)
None of these dresses came close to the ACTUAL celebrity dress...they look like a bunch of Wish dresses. The only dress that came close to the real dress was the Hailey Baldwin remake.
Yeah, i agree, but the kiley jenner dress is very similar, and if the ariana grande dress had hoops in it, it would look super simlar. Edit: and yes i had a spelling error
Rosario Santander I feel if she hadn’t of pinned it, it would’ve looked more like what it should’ve? It wasn’t meant to be tight, more to drape off her hip. Imo anyway haha 🤷🏼♀️
megan garrett Agreed, I feel like Mia just tries to remember what the picture looked like when she reviews the things rather than actually looking side by side 😳
I agree. Those two are my favorites... plus Ariana's dress was $500 lol. You can't just give away a $500 dress 😂 Plus Mia seems to really like those two
I got my senior prom dress from this website. It was a “recreation” of a coral colored Demi lovato dress and obvi it had different beading and wasn’t the same shape necessarily but it was SO GOOD! I believe I paid $120 for my dress and it was worth every penny. I was so satisfied. Granted this was in 2015 but hope this helps❤️
Mia saying about “how much the celebs spent” all I could think was how they were probably paid to wear those dresses and didn’t spend any money at all 😂
The designers will lend those dresses to celebs. At the end of the event they have to return them. The celebs are supposed to promote that designer during the red carpet. That's why the question: "who are you wearing?" Free marketing for the designers and free dresses for the celebs to wear.
Exactly, that's why it was such a big deal when Lupita's Pearl dress was stolen (at least I think it was pearls?). It was like 20lbs of beading and it had to be returned to the designer.
Although that is true, its not the full truth. Many celebs purchase and own the dresses or suits that they wear. However, yes, a large sum of them are just borrowed or rented for designer marketing.
Mia’s so cute, she just rambles on about how she didn’t peek at the dresses every time. She really wants us to know that we’re experiencing that first impression together 😢😂😂😂
Notes from a sometimes costumer and seamstress: I feel when you pinned up the "looseness" of the Zendaya dress you ended up taking away the styled drape, which would have hidden the hem of the corset... I suggest Hollywood tape for the little black dress and the grey number after it. It will help with the modesty and if the iron doesnt fix those points the you can stick them to your chest... Please get a hoop skirt or a petticoat for the Arianna dress, it was looking a little flat and it would just elevate it to that next level...
I think that the issue with sites like these isn’t that celebrities would get offended. The issue is that the websites are just ripping off the work of the designers who created the dresses without even so much as accreditation.
exactly. really peeved at how Mia is like "I hope the celebrities don't feel offended", when it has absolutely nothing to do with that lol. It's all about the designer's creative work & vision, intellectual rights and these are just cheap knockoffs.
Jordan Lindquist I wasn’t referring to that. I was just pointing out they are quite a scam. No website respectable enough does super sales like that. From 500 grand to 198 or whatever. It’s a wish type of shit
Rebecca Hinkle if you want to see someone do that, this RU-vidr named Micarah Tewers made Ariana’s Grammy dress and then recreated her makeup and hairstyle
I don't think it will be the celebrities who are mad about "their" pieces being copied. I believe it will be the designers and their workers who will be more upset that all the time they spent envisioning, designing and creating a piece of art was copied for fast fashion.
I agree! I study art/design and I learn/experience about the process of it... i can definitely imagine how mad and upsetting it will be for the fashion designers and the team for having others ripping their designs
It is to be expected though. When you have someone with a lot of following wear your designs, you must realize the risk that companies are going to duplicate it for profit.
@enderbuddies! Imitation is the purest form of flattery I suppose, but doesn't mean it isn't frustrating when someone cops your art, claims it as their own, and makes thousands of dollars off your original work. Happens across the art community, not just fashion. The problem is that the market continually requests copycat art/fashion/music/technology. THAT is what I expect - I expect people, consumers like you and I, to want cheap versions of something beautiful. Ain't nothing wrong with that but let's not blame artists who get exposure
Never said it wasn’t frustrating and never said you should blame artists. I’m just saying it’s a very easy way to make money, because some consumers worship (lack for a better word) celebrities and are always on the hunt for things like their clothes, makeup, music, etc. So if a company makes these things for a lower price, it’s more accessible to fans and it will generate a lot of profit. Of course in this case, they weren’t claiming that these were their own designs, but I know in other cases (like with art or music) the creator often isn’t credited and that’s where the trouble comes from
I started watching mia from this video and now watching her get married makes my heart so full it's the best thing. She's so so kind, precious and I love her so much 🥺❤
I think with the fact that they're recreations, they need to advertise the dresses with the original celebrity photo, and a photo of the recreation worn by either a mannequin or someone can model it. Less risk of letting down those who expect it to be exactly like the originals.
I feel like it wasnt that bad, it probably looked worse both bcs it was the wrong size and she pinned it up, so that it rode up and stretched out instead of draping like zendayas :x
I think the Zendaya remake looked awful: the negatives were really significant. It's HARD for something to look bad on Mia's body (she perf), so you can tell when something was constructed badly.
Some of the complaints, such as “the corset flaring out too much at the bottom” are about Mia’s body not fitting the standard size she picked though. That one, if she had ordered for her own measurements could have looked a lot better, and wouldn’t have had flaring where her hips didn’t fill the garment
Can we just appreciate that she buys all these very expensive stuff just for a entertaining video for us 💜💜💜💜 I only just started watching her last night and I’m addicted!!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!
Thank you! Lol this is the first positive comment I've seen about her donating the dresses. Everyone else is telling her to donate the dresses somewhere else, like a women's shelter wouldn't ABSOLUTELY appreciate it. Not that donating them to a cheap prom dress boutique isn't a good idea, but she said she was donating them and that in itself should be enough. It doesn't matter where bc these beautiful dresses would be huge to have anywhere they go, especially with how much she spent on all of them. So I appreciate your positivity lol.
JaydraInLalaLand yes ofc, every woman deserves to wear what they’re heart desires and if there’s someone in a woman’s shelter that would enjoy a dress like this than why not??❤️
That's what I was thinking when she said the dresses were cheap compared to what the celebrities paid for them! All it costs the celebrities is free promotion of the designer
Most are free if the designer wants that celebrity sporting their name. That's why they will wear head to toe 1 designer and on the red carpet its announced who they are wearing. It's like a commercial
Ariana does buy some dresses at least bc someone asked not long ago what she did with the met Gala dress she wore and she said her mom was keeping it so I think some artists those buy them plus there are many that get custom made dresses
@@goddessjessica5897 don't need to buy it, many are given for free like the above people said. The price of the dress is nothing compared to the publicity the designer is getting from the celebrity so they are just given those for free.
You should do a Taylor Swift dress, some of my favs are, the out of the woods music video dress, the look what you made me do dress, the 2016 Grammys dress, and the 2015 Grammys❤️
No offence but who is going to want the cheap clothes she tries... Donating clothing is seen as such an easy solution to consumerism and that just isn't how it works. Charities cannot keep up with the amount of clothes being donated, or they can't use them because they're too low in quality. The clothing ends up in landfill, costing charities money and polluting the environment.
I seriously love that your donating them to people in need! It says a lot about your character and is just one of the many reasons I love and support your channel ♥️❤️ Your such an amazing example for everyone but young ladies especially
Roxxsaurus what’s new lol? you’ve been copying Mia’s videos for the longest time now, your channel is a copy of hers! it’s unfortunate that you cannot pull anything off as good as Mia; you should try having concepts of your own for once
hello bitches I’ve noticed it months ago, she only commented to expiate herself when she’s going to post her video, so that people wouldn’t think that she copied Mia; I bet you that she didn’t actually order the dresses a few days ago
Mia is always so positive about everything, she never complaints. I love that about her. I mean the Zendaya dress wasn't super nice but she was so positive about it!
I love Mia but honestly the dress looked bad , these brands benefit from positive reviews making millions , but the people who don't really have money to spend could end up being really dissapointing so I would say being just completely honest is better
Loved this video so fun!! I would love you to do more! I see they have wedding dresses and I would love to see if those look as good as the celebrity gowns!
There’s a place in my city that rents out formal dresses to girls who otherwise couldn’t afford it for grad/prom (I’m also Canadian) so maybe there’s something in your city similar to donate to because these would be perfect ❤️❤️ love your videos but also love how kind hearted you are 😌
No offense to the website, but I think it's a bunch of moderately talented seamstresses given a picture just like what we see on screen, and creating their best interpretation dupe
I’m sure they’re sitting in their mansion, sipping a margarita, not giving two craps about a cheap remake site 😂 not like the site is taking their customers
When i saw the thumbnail it instantly reminded me of micarah recreating the dress and it was very well made and i would say better then the one u tried on in my opignion. But the other dress looked good on u equally
you can find better quality at thrift stores & getting a secondhand dress tailored would probably cost as much/less than the dresses in this video (honestly, you could probably spend 20$ on a thrifted dress & tailor it yourself & have it turn out better, even if you didn’t have any experience making alterations).
@@mihaifilipvasilcu5394 Sure $40 worth of supplies, but how many hours did she put into it? When you buy a dress, you aren’t paying for the fabric, you’re paying for the hours of construction.
Zendaya wears her dress much lower on her hips, Mia looks like she's hitched both the corset and the dress up too far. The Lady Gaga dress is amazing and looks great on Mia. Kendal Jenner's dress is even shorter! But the shoulders on the remake are wrong. The Hayley Baldwin dress is beautiful! And Mia looks gorgeous in it. Classic. The Ariana Grande dress is surprisingly good, though I think Mia needs an underskirt to pouffe it out more.
The remake of the Zendaya dress looked like they made the mid section too short. The fabric should have went further down to the hips. I don't think it was the way she put it on. Unless it was because of the way she pinned it
ASOS wedding dresses ASOS wedding dresses ASOS wedding dresses ASOS wedding dresses. :)))) I would love to see a review of some of their wedding dresses and/ or their bridesmaid dresses. Love youuuu
