Trying out a Cashier-less NO STAFF Convenience Store in South Korea!!

This is my first time ever seeing a completely staff-less convenience store in my whole life!! How crazy is this?? It was the strangest feeling having this whole store to ourselves with no supervision at all. Are there completely person less stores in the country you live in? I’d be curious to know what other countries have taken on this shopping format.

This is in a hotel, it makes sense so the hotel can provide a convenience store but not staff a fully functioning store. It works because there's card access, cameras, and hotel staff relatively close by. It's not that uncommon, I live in America and I've seen them in hotels, colleges, and workplaces. It's intended for the guests/students/employees, not the general public.

I would love this sort of shop except for when you're alone in there with some sleazy-looking person, it could get uncomfortable - like I always feel safer if there's a staff person around even though they might not even help at all... weird though I know, I'm just personally always concerned for my safety because I usually travel alone haha!

You're right. All the self-service stores in Washington, D.C. -- or anywhere in the U.S. for that matter -- have at least one attendant or security guard per point of sale, which makes the whole concept seem kind of redundant. However, when you see all the indigents, whinos and tweakers loitering and milling around in the store -- whether it be a CVS/Walgreens/Wal-Mart/Krogers/etc., then you realize they're there for a reason that a regular cashier wouldn't be able to handle at all.

Official Crystal Sings I had stores like this on my college campus as well, but it was mostly junk food. And there was a cashier. People only went in there if they wanted a quick snack 🙃

NewBlueTrue Yeah, mine had a lot of junk food but some healthy items, too. I don’t remember if there was any “fresh” stuff. But they did have toiletries as well.

I know I am a bit late but the fact that you speak in English and sometimes in Korean actually helps me I know a little bit of Korean and am trying to lear more and watching your videos I was able to learn a bit more of Korean with you having subtittles in Korean I can learn a bit more to read Korean and by taking words out and trying to form a sentence (without knowing a whole lot of Korean) helps me a lot thank you :) from 2018 lol

a lot of stores in the netherlands have self-checkouts along with the normal ones, i think its so handy when im in a hurry or dont want to talk with anyone

except in the US there will always be live security and surveillance in the store and an electromagnetic sticker taped to everything so you cant possibly lie your way out of self checkouts. we dont trust customers because we can't trust them

This is terrible, I always feel like a pig when I buy too much junk food at a convenience store, imagining the cashier silently judging me as he rings me out so it prevents me getting too much junk, I would end up buying too much here 😂
