Trying to build some automotive artwork...I mean that's basically what all this is for me. I never intended for this custom car build to be overly functional. It was really more about making something to stretch the limit of my fabrication skills. More stretching coming soon.

Welcome to The Fab Forums. My name is Kyle Voss and I am a automotive fabricator that produces Custom Automotive Fabrication content of all kinds. Including Carbon Fiber, TIG Welding, Metal Shaping, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Custom Choppers, and everything in between. I work hard to bring you new content on a weekly basis.
Here are some of the builds you can find on this channel.
I have built several Chevy trucks. The first was my 1964 C10 named Crown Spoyal and the most recent C10 truck project was the 1969 I recently sold to a friend named the Black Pearl.
I am also finishing up a custom twin turbo Ford Mustang build I call the Gray Goose. It’s a 400 cubic inch Windsor style engine with twin 70mm turbos. I am hoping to make around the 1000 horsepower mark to the tires on this particular build.
Last but not least is the one off custom hot rod build called the Bibbster. This is what I call a modern day hot rod. It’s made from an old Ford Mustang foxbody, but made to look like an old school open wheeled hot rod.
I also feature other fabricators and shops like Cutworm Specialties hand formed aluminum wide body kit for a BMW e46. Jeb Greenstone has also built a twin turbo, coyote powered model A style hot rod from scratch, and is currently building a Toyota TE72 wagon drift car powered by a 1UZ Lexus v8. Jeb’s custom fabrication skills are fun to watch and always make for good videos.

I like the two look for the break light. I'm interested to see the finish look of the housing for the lights never thought to use break lines. I have always seen welding rod or coat hangers used

Too bad you couldn't fit 3 vertical bars of lights in there as a nod to the Mustang. At any rate, 2, definitely looks better than the 1! Nice job!

Like the second brake light. The Addition of the brake line Looks Great too. I would Stay away from the venting tho. Everything is coming together Great.

I definitely think the double brake lights looks better. It left an odd gap above the single one beforehand and the second one fills it nicely. Keep up the great work. :)

Here is a grill suggestion, use a bead roller to crease the expanded metal in a series of grooves to give the expanded metal a more 3D appearance

Two lights definitely. Check out big rig chrome shop on line and grab a sequential module...alternate the signals up and down....just a cool thought. Great work as always hero Thanks for great ideas

Looking great. The expanded metal and the 3/8th tubing are both great ideas. The 2nd taillight is a preference...I think it would look great with 2 taillights per side.! *Plus the added brightness would help, where they are frenched in* As always, awesome work Kyle.!! Have a great weekend.

Nice to see you, Kyle and it's always good to see progress on The Bibbster. Using brake lines to give the edge of the sheet metal a more finished look is a great idea.👌 I was wondering how you achieved that... thanks for showing it. Two brakelights look waaaay better! Go for it! Awesome so far. I subscribed from all the way back when you started on the Bibbster years ago. Woke my interest when you started cutting that thing in sections and weld it back together...and see how far it is now. I LOVE this build! Wish we where allowed to do something like that in germany. But our german TÜV would say: No that´s now way to be street legal. I´m so excited to see the finished car! ;o)

Can't believe I'm up to date. I've been waiting to watch this series until it was finished but couldn't..... I would have made the too panel cover the light more but you may have legal issues.... You could double up the lights and have 1 tail and both brake.

You are NOT trying to build automotive artwork, you ARE building automotive artwork. Would like to see one full video from start to finish once your done in time lapse. And yes the second light will make it fill the void and be way brighter and may help keep someone from rear ending you at a stop light while the stare in amazement on how awesome the car looks.

About the brake lights: tilt them up and hide them so they are not visible when you look directly at the aperture but it just glows red when you step on the brakes.

2 light fill the hole better and makes it look just more finised. Also try offsetting them, bottom light bit more out and top at the back, it may compliment the curve. I just found this channel and subscribed immedietly, you have great skills and work ethics!

Looking good on the rear lights. I'm diggin the dual lights for the rear. Great tip on the brake line for finishing off edges, good stuff. As always, nice work Mr. Voss.

Nice work. I'd just have done one, but with two, you can stagger the light, IE. brake bottom, turn signal top. Strobe controller might be cool too.

Definitely two lights. I'm thinking stair step the lights by putting standoffs behind the bottom light. Still frenched, but following the contour of the pocket.

Looking better all the time Kyle, thanks for the update! I like the two light look too. It just looks more finished IMO. I'm not to sure about the expanded metal though, are there any other shapes to be found? Like maybe slots cut out of the metal or other shapes? And we used three layers of expanded metal on the rear of a Lamborghini kit car. First and third layer were aligned and the middle later split the difference. Put two small radiators behind them (intercoolers would work, too... But maybe not with your custom suspension)

Two lights. But stager them, top one against the back of the housing and the bottom one just in front of the top one. To match the angle of the housing opening.

I would go with two lights. Just an idea that popped in my head during the video. How about a frenched in Harley Davidson gas cop in the trunk lid. In the middle and down low. Just a thought.

2 brake lights look sick. For the vents u can do something like what supercars come with but more settled look. Or like example where the hellcats get there air for the supercharger it's a light but also a vent

I’d use two lights for sure, but one for tail and signal and the other for brakes. Not a huge fan of the expanded metal, I’d rather see a torsion box type hexagon that fits together?? Like 1” deep strips all bent up and notched. Way harder but something really unique!

You should consider wire cloth instead of expanded metal. I personally think it looks way cleaner and has a better feel to it but that’s just my opinion.

Definitely 2 rows of lights. That look so much better even without lights on. You could go with std lights in both of them, and turn signal in the lower. (unless you going to do what we Europeans have to to... have an orange light as well, but I think that would ruin the look your going for here).

2 lights look pretty good, but I'd have to say 1 light if it was a 2-3 inches longer and just bigger in general

If you didnt wanted it to look like expanded metal, you should've gotten some abs honeycomb grille mesh, but then again, that wouldnt go with the all metal look you're going for, unless you spray paint it silver. I LOVE this build dont get me wrong, but I think it would've been even better if you did everything from scratch, but then again I can understand how much easier it will be to register it, legally using the mustangs vin #
