In this video, I take my Nikon Z6ii, 24-70 f4 Z, and Tamron 100-400 to a local wildlife reserve to test out the camera's vlogging and wildlife photo/video capabilities. I found some bufflehead ducks as well as a friendly great blue heron.

I bought a Tamron SP 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD a while ago. I have liked it a lot and it takes good pictures. My camera is a Canon Eos 5D Mark IV. Your video is good and I hope you make more videos, so I can watch them here far away in Finland.

One small suggestion, upload in 4k, even if you shoot 1080, export in 4k and upload in 4k in youtube, u will get vp09 codec which will make the videos look much better

Got the version 1 tamron 150-600mm lens for $384.00 off line, they said the image stabilization and VR didn't work but I went ahead and bought it anyway. Turns out it works perfect! I got lucky! I paired it with my Nikon d7500 and 1 bird on my bucket list to photograph is a blue heroin. BTW nice video!😁

It looks like something funky is going on with the VR in video. How did you feel about the autofocus? Did it work well?

Hey, nice video. I love your shots. I like how u go there and take good shots! I really do the same here since I'm in Australia. I'm wondering about a new lens for my Z6ii. Nikon is launching new lenses now but it takes time and it's quite expensive ! I've never think about tamron lens with an adaptator though.

really nice vid, how is the performance of this lens on your z6ii? I am looking some advice for tele photolens. And is it possible for you to try the 1.4 extender, I can‘t find any information in combination with the Tamron 100-400mm and the Z6Ii. It will be so awesome and you would have an unique video.

Was waffling between the D500 and Z6 ii. Went for the Z6 ii, even though now I have to wait since it's backordered.

Did you have to update the lens to the body or no. I just got my 100 - 400mm but I can’t take pictures.

Hi Luca, awesome video . How is the Tamron focusing speed through the FTZ adapter ? Does it hunt and slow in acquiring focus ? Thanks

I have the same question and concern. I have a Z fc and the FTZ adapter and looking at getting a 3rd party 100-400mm.

@@angelicacepeda7261 I already bought the Tamron 100-400mm. Make sure you get the lens to update to the latest firmware to be compatible with the Nikon Z Mount. I use the lens on my Nikon Z7 and Nikon Zfc for landscaping on a tripod and not birds or other moving subject. I can say this lens is very good and sharp. Focusing is fast. Its a seldom use lens for me as i only use it for landscaping. So it is economically better to buy this Tamron than native Nikon Z 100-400. Unless you dont mind to pay extra for native Nikon Z 100-400 lens. I can confidently say that Nikon Z 100-400mm is a better lens

Waiting for the shipment of my own Tamron 100-400 :) Hopefully I'll do some nice birdimg with it. I've also thought about Nikkor 200-500, but it was twice as heavy and twice as expensive and I'm a more of a walking photographer :)

@@carlosricardo7470 Overtime it became a bit heavy as I'm more of a walker. I now use Olympus e-M1 Mark II with lumix 100-400. Qualitywise it is worse, but half of weight and space :)

As a nikon user for over 10 years, their video auto focus on their dslr is totally crap can't auto focus very fast and unusable, where as Canon dslr auto focus for video is very good. Finally after 10 to 15 years or so, nikon finally solve their auto focus problem.

Very nicely done. With the S lenses you need to use S teleconverters so either make the switch 100% or have two sets of teleconverters. Green choice of driving a Prius but very un-green to be drinking bottled water.
