Because it's not. Like, in Castlevania Lords of Shadow 1 you LITERALLY punch out Satan. By yourself. With your actual bare human fist. That tops my list.
@@karry299 And in Nocturne, you LITERALLY punch an Avatar of God. Yes, the God. Capital G. YHVH. An Avatar that is as strong as the real deal, by the way. Heck, in SMT II you DO punch the actual, actual actual, in his true real form, God YHVH.
Hijiri wasn't in the hospital when the conception happened; he did in fact die and was resurrected without realizing he died (because he's cursed by God to repeatedly be stuck in worlds with no power). This is explained in one of the peepholes in the Amala Labyrinth. Besides that's holy crap you have a good memory lol.
Actually he was in the hospital, you just never seen him there prior to the conception. When you met him in yoyogi park he said he was on his way to the hospital as well. When you meet him at the hospital terminal, he mentioned he got to the hospital just before it happened.
"Man fuck you! That's how we got in this mess in the first place! Fuck I'ma fight you!" The accuracy in this one is so strong that I can't stop laughing
First time I went through SMTIII I rejected ALL the reasons and never beat the optional dungeon, so I got the WORST ending. You don't get a final battle, you just get told you fucked up and there's now no way to remake the world. That sucked. :p
if this game got remade... maybe add another optional dungeon. like how super paper mario added a second pit of a hundred trials (that game is ass though but nice idea).
I found this video very entertaining from start to finish. Having played the game myself (but not completing it due to losing my PS2), I think you did pretty well remembering the plot. And I loved the presentation throughout from the faithful text dialogue boxes to your cute BlazBlue Radio-esque sprites. I also like how you threw in references to other games and media such as Undertale (considering the game was heavily influenced by Shin Megami Tensei). This feels like the American equivalent to vanila.ice trying to recall Stardust Crusaders. So thank you for this entertainment video. I look forward to watching your other episodes! :)
I can actually answer that now that I'm no longer trying to recall this plot on the spot. This was part of a joint-deal between Atlus and Capcom at the time. The director of Nocturne felt that Dante would be a perfect fit for the post-apoc demon world, so in exchange they had SMT series artist Kazuma Kaneko provide the designs for Dante and Vergil's Devil Trigger forms in Devil May Cry 3. Plotwise he is present in the Vortex World at the behest of Lucifer who has hired him to slay demons, including the protagonist. After a while Dante figures out who his employer is and cancels his contract, instead offering a contract to the player, which is how you recruit him. Hope that answers your question! -A.B.I.
+SugarPunch Design Works Thanks a lot , based on your inital recalling of the story , it seemed as if Dante had literally no point in being there .On a sidenote its really cool of you guys to actually specify whos writing the responses , thats a thing that always irks me on a lot of collab channels so thats cool ... anyway thanks , have a nice day.
***** he killed Virgil in dmc 1 after Virgil became corrupt by mudus in dmc3. So in dmc2 when he is going to Hell there is no Virgil and Virgil son Nero has his sword from dmc4
I... honestly do not think I ever got past Matador... Cause that spike was real. Like, more real than potentially your first battle in 4... Cause you have a real chance there just... dying, first battle. Also, yea... DO put Dante in all the games. I'm looking over at FF15 when I say that for some reason.
See it's attitudes like that from a community that can turn people off of a game franchise... I know I've tried to get people to play Dark Souls... cue waiting for ABI to say 'so it's just like Monster Hunter'.
I was really underwhelmed with the difficulty of the Matador fight because it had been so overhyped to that point (but then I was playing on Normal). Nocturne was my first SMT but I had experience with Persona at that point so it wasn't totally alien to me. You definitely learn to appreciate the value of buffs and debuffs and especially Dekunda and Dekaja with some of the stuff the enemies like to pull. It helps that my usual style in RPGs is to use everything I can to tip the scales in my favour anyways (one of the things I like about SMT is how difficult it is to outright break the game unlike many others in the genre). Then there are assholes like Mot who just like to have infinite turns every now and then but we don't talk about that. :p
That's my favorite Recall vid so far. God damnit ^^ When I try to remember it that's *exactly* how it went (ef you Trumpeter!)... Bravo! That was very entertaining! :'D
ok. ok. seriously I've never laughed this hard. I'm now subscribing. and in all honesty that's how me and my friends try to recall old games we've played hahaha
Like a big example for some of the fiends being out of order. Matador is supposed to be in the tunnel between Mall 1 with a bunch of Fallen and Mall 2 with a bunch of Oni. Then Daisoujou is supposed to be in Mall 2 after the headquarter got nuked by Red jam. Man, Smt Nocturne has a bunch of skeletons for fiends.
all of them are skeletons. except raidou and dante. I guess they are the bull skeleton guy, the monk skeleton guy, the nicolas cage skeleton guy, the crowned bow skeleton guy, the skeleton guy with the sweet laugh, the balance skeleton guy, the shinigami skeleton guy, the devil may cry trade mark series non skeleton guy, the drinking skeleton babe on a beast and the trumpeter skeleton guy.
Well, you don't kill God. It's implied you will eventually try to do that, but in the game, you only kill an Avatar of him, and it's after that where you fight Lucifer and become the General of his Army.
@Kaidoku123 Well, he certainly didn't kill him for good. Thing is, you can kill God and he can still survive it. It's said in the series that as long as just one human longs for order and law, God will always return. Aleph killed God in SMTII. Yet God still lives on in other games. We'll have to see how future games will handle SMT Apocalypse. Also, I don't think it has even ever been established which Nocturne ending is canon. Only thing that speaks for it I can think of is his appearance as a Bonus Boss in DDS. Unlike in SMTII, where no matter the ending Aleph kills God.
I wouldn’t say he had the worst ending, but imo that’s the worst ending lol. The whole game implies change, and then “the sun” gets pissed off at you for just rewinding the game
Lol, awesome video. Woulda been sweet to hear your commentary on the Labyrinth of Amala being hell and the old guy being the devil... and of course Dante joining your team in the process.
Ash Arthritis Why? Because you could potentially just have you and Pixie in your party (Still don't know how I beat him, took three tries, but I did it).
*cough* this is where the original devil may cry and devil summoner ends . the true ending was the demon ending meaning dante and raidou failed to do there jobs
Not when going in blind if you don't happen to have a team that's not weak to force and some agility buffs or debuffs, which the game doesn't really hint very much towards you needing beforehand IIRC. No excuse for fucking up round two, though.
I am inclined to agree, basically he he has a werid AI, if you use the basic spell to drop his evasion...like more than once, he uses his best evasion raising spell and fucks you. If you use a Demon who has Fog Breath, you can fuck his world because APPARENTLY he doesn't respond to that spell. As far as I can tell, dont ask me why.
To be frank, I found out about Nocturne because I was sick about the Persona 5 hype and started going farther back into that franchise, and later branched out to Digital Devil Saga, Devil Summoner and Nocturne, watching the cutscenes and boss fights as movies. I didn't even know Dante was in the game until he just casually appeared. I still think THIS should have been considered what Devil May Cry 2 was.
No seriously put Dante in Smash Bros. dammit! Put him in Mortal Kombat 11! Revive Darkstalkers as a Devil May Cry spin off just so you can put Dante in darkstalkers! DO IT!
Daisoujou haunted my nightmares, he was hella hard. Surprise, I can just instakill a bunch of your demons with my light monk powers, drain all your mana and your only hope is to spam fog breath and hope the RNG gods favor you. F**k you very much Daisoujou lol. The difficulty spikes in this game were brutal.
See, unlike Evangelion - it's pretty easy to understand what happens in Nocturne. This Third Impact stuff...what is that ? Who are the angels ? Why do the other Evas attack ? What the fuck is that Longinus Transforming Needle shit ? I have no clue. You cant POSSIBLY derivate an explanation from the series itself. In part because Hideaki had no fucking vision and Evangelion is just a hotpot of random shit thrown together, as he said in some interviews.
