Trying to Stan Murder Drones Episode 1 "PILOT" Reaction & Breakdown 

Also one thing that the creator of the show Liam Vickers himself said to never question or ask him about is “Don’t ask why the Murder Drones don’t wear pants.”

No Spoilers! It's Worth it! It's also complicated, so it's okay if you are confused! Keep digging Bill, there's so much lore that you don't need, but you missed in the pilot even.

The planet is "Copper 9," not Earth. That's why there's still a Company to send Murder Drones. My headcannon is that the v1 version of the Drones creeped people out, being too robotic, so the company decided to add "personalities" for the v2 versions, but cheaped out and basically just loaded a bunch of old movies and TV shows into the programming computer and told it to "pick random personality traits." I'm pretty sure the Murder Drone spit is just specifically designed to neutralize their nanite acid (from their tails), not a generalized healing "fluid." I'm pretty sure it's not possible to overthink Murder Drones going forward.

All the characters are 18+ years old. The planet is an Exoplanet called Copper 9. On those freeze frames with things like Uzi’s eye glitches, I definitely recommend going frame-by-frame and reading the bits of code there. The series, as you go through it, can be very confusing to some. The more you watch each episode, the more you’ll catch more lore, and the later episodes start to give answers to some big stuff - so keep in mind, if you do watch more, it’s okay to be confused! Until you catch/are given the answers, you, as a viewer, are meant to be confused. There’s a lot of lore, a lot of background details, et cetera. Sink your teeth in, make your own thoughts and theories, and as always, have fun! Go doors!

Here is an interesting point of the self aware tropes/humor. They are robots, quicker thinking and faster acting than humans, meaning they likely are fully aware of the irony in what they say and feel it necessary to explain when they are being sarcastic or facetious.

-bits vs breads is basically all of trying to stan -theyre all like similar age and uzis classmates are 19-20 -theres no such thing as overthinking this show -they dont wear pants

I'm so glad Digital Circus is letting a whole new wave of people to discover Murder Drones. It's a *very* good show that is very "made-for-internet", which rewards you (almost requires you) to pause and rewatch to catch every little detail.

I'm so glad you're checking out this amazing series. Glitch Productions always does amazing work, and I have to give mad props to the creator, Liam Vickers. He did an excellent Job bringing this world to life and creating these amazing, mostly deranged characters. Also, N is such a precious little murder bean.

(No Spoilers) I just got into this series recently and it is amazing. I would personally say that the pilot is the weakest episode (I still like it) and that it just gets better and better every episode. A couple of things i think you might have missed or misunderstood was that 1. The robots saliva doesn’t heal everything, it’s only the Murder Drones saliva and it only heals the Nanite Acid that comes from their tails. And 2. The Dad said that he had to put Uzi’s mother/his wife out of her misery because the murder drones got to her with their acid. Which makes it a little more understandable why he was so scared of the Murder Drone and left Uzi (Still extremely messed up). He said that when he gave Uzi the wrench

This might just be the best time to get into Murder Drones. The series finale comes out in Spring 2024, hope you enjoy it in the meantime!

I think that Murder Drones is right up your alley. One non-spoiler major criticism the show has is that it often takes "show don't tell" to the extreme. It can be easy to get lost unless you take time to analyze the story, which includes pausing to see what's in the background. But if you like layered shows that really gets you to think, you'll love this.

Some details about Murder Drones aren't really covered in the upcoming episodes, but were revealed to the community: The planet Murder Drones is set on is Copper 9. As far as Uzi knows, humans elsewhere are fine - including on Earth - hence her desire to seek out and exact vengeance upon them. Drone children are created by two drones putting their codes together in a separate body and merging the codes. Since the result are pretty unstable at first, this is usually a "baby" body, as seen in the beginning of the pilot, which is less capable of harming themself or others. Once the two codes have merged into a stable new code, it is then transferred into a drone body.

I like Murder Drones, but I do agree that sometimes it's self aware to the point where it almost seems afraid to be earnest or emotionally honest. Definitely worth watching though, there aren't many shows that take big swings like it does!

Holy crap you have some good theories here I especially like the idea of Uzi being a amalgam between worker and murder drone's also nice catch with noticing the eldritch rune symbol you're on to something with that.

Fun fact (Possible spoiler, I don't know): 16:24 It has nothing to do with the lore of the series, but it is known that this symbol is inspired by a 3D editor (like Blender), essentially it is a cube with arrows pointing to the x, y and z axes (length, width and depth), I mention it because this really has no importance in the series, but it is something quite curious

Something i think you will enjoy is there is typically a horror theme of each episode. Im not sure about the first one but every episode after the first one gives me vibes from horror movies. I wont say what ones of course for spoiler reasons but its something i loved going in to each episode once i saw the pattern. "What horror are we getting in to today" I hope you continue watching cause this series has turned in to one of my favorite series from youtube. I think even more than helluva boss at this point and that was quite high (for me)

I allways thought the deal with J and her buzzword thing was her being characterized as a corporate chill, the corporate speech she throws arround occaisionally is my main indicator for this. I think that she bullys N as a sort of punishment for him not meating quotas, this would explain why she calls him "useless and terrible", it makes sense that N wouldnt kill as many workers just because of his personality and because he dosnt have the same drive J or V do, they seem to very much enjoy the act of killing them, i mean V is cackeling like a maniac the whole time and J obviously enjoys lording her superiority over the workers. In contrast to that N never really gives indications that he likes doing this aside from the creepy smile wich im pretty shure is not a voluntary reaction and just how theyre programmed to act while theire killing, so with no appearent enjoyment in his job he probably just does what he has to wich would be a reason for J to dislike him as N would be dragging down the quota. This is just my interpretation though.

Encouraging! I can’t wait for you to check out the rest that’s available I’m on the same page as you when it comes to the dialogue, a few too many low hanging fruit jokes (or just nonsense like the hormone comments) that deflate the scenes, ON THE BRIGHT SIDE the it actually does improve that aspect somewhat over the next few episodes! Admittedly I didn’t keep watching for the humor, I stayed for the plot and robot violence. Which is very intriguing! I think this series would have your theory-crafting gears turning happily. And the fight scenes DO get even cooler!

(Only discussing the content covered in the pilot here in terms of spoilers) Not at all laughing at you, Bill. I think your look at this one was thorough & thoughtful, and wouldn't mind seeing where this goes in terms of some of the themes explored (family v. community, overcoming one's conditioning, being passive v. actively taking a stand against abuse), even though wanton destruction isn't my jam. Can't really shake it - I feel really bad for the dead door workers. I mean, yes, "can't have Murder Drones without some awful undeserved death!", but the world has been full of very public and uncensored death for the innocent lately - it's just not what I'd choose to immerse myself in a new, "can't wait to see more!" fictional setting as well. But, definitely, keep on reacting to animation & media generally with important themes.

Okay, so no spoilers, only information that you can harvest from the pilot: 1. That’s not Earth, that’s bringing up like 5 seconds in the pilot. 2. It looks like to make production cheaper and programming easier humans just put an untrained AI into “baby drone” so it won’t hurt itself, and when it gets minimal knowledge, they give it the worker body. 3. Teacher voiced by Liam himself, just funny detail. 4. On posters was clearly stated that Khan pretty much doesn’t care about Uzi. 5. Yeah, so N, V and J build a giant freaking spire of corpses, it’s kinda should be a ~lore~ but we still didn’t exactly know why they build that 6. Ouch, Uzi got stuck by nanite acid, sound like it’s nanomachines that heat up and melt pretty much any metal. 7. N have saliva because he needs to deactivate nanites, but then why Uzi have saliva? IDK, maybe it’s just a way to dispose of some of the byproducts. 8. N says, that “they” never told them how to land, but it’s kinda strange that humans sent robots on a planet god knows where just so they accidentally dropped into ocean and it’s pretty sus. 9. N Basically stated that he need to constantly change oil or he overheat and die, which is obviously a bad design choice for a huge interstellar company that make robots, since it’s highly inefficient because the fewer drones - the higher chance to fail disassembly because of lack of oil. 10. Yeah so N have a crush on V. I love V and think that even her character in pilot was a deeper then just “crazy killer girl” 11. J always talk about efficiency or uses half-corporate slang, that’s strange mode of behaviour, since it makes communication with her harder. 12. When N gets “you killed” screen we can see a lot of ~LORE~ stuff, so I advice you to check that 13. All three disassembly drones: N, V and J have some sort of cloth badges on their left hand, and it says “marked for disassembly” which is strange because they are supposed to disassemble stuff, but this rag stays that they must be disassembled. 14. So Uzi’s dad left her to die, and now whole fan base is ether hate him, or troll people by pretend that they like him. 15. V actually know N’s name which is even surprised him 16. We still don’t know why exactly J hate N, it never was said directly so I’m gonna assume for the sake of 0 spoilers that she just jealous that he have cooler cloth then she. 17. Disassembly drones can generate almost everything out of their hands, but it sims like they still limited in weaponry but they have guns and EMI. 18. If V was disgusted by N’s move, does it mean that she actually feels? I guess so 19. J had prey that fought back. 20. Earlier N stated that he might disassemble himself due to nanite acids, so Uzi used it on J for a cool moment. 21. J literally died because instead of Ok said “equality partnership?” 22. *THATS A LITLE SPOILER* So, basically Khans mug is not wrong, he doesn’t have much concurrents, but he clearly on 1-st place lol *spoiler over* 23. N said that sun can kill him, that basically means that he can melt from it vampire stile which again making me question why disassembly drones were so poorly designed 24. Wow is that another 3 spaceships? Cool!

As someone who has also only watched the Pilot so far, I fully agree that one of my only big issues with the episode was how much the humor felt like it was apologizing for the tropes they were using.

This is a great series

Each episode gets better than the previous too! The show, however, does NOT make important things obvious or stand out so you'll have to either really pay attention when watching, watch multiple times or read up on wikis afterwards. It's also normal for questions to multiply after each episode, many are answered or implied by episode 6 but this show really challenges watchers to pay attention and try to figure things out.

(No spoilers here!) The murder drones spit can only heal wounds from their acid not just any wound. They're on an exo planet called Copper 9. And yes keep digging into the rabbit hole Bill! There were actually several bits of lore and foreshadowing you missed in this episode but I won't point them out quite yet to avoid spoiling you. But once we get to what they're hinting at I can definitely point them out! I'm so excited for you to watch the rest of this series! I only started watching a few months ago (not long after ep 6 dropped) and it really is amazing! Please keep watching! It only gets better from here!

while Uzi is battling J, you can see the symbol seen at the end in Uzi's eye for a split second when one of J's bullets swerves and misses Uzi. You can see the same symbol at the end of the episode (as you saw) along with some hidden text. Upon closer analysis, the text that I was able to read said... "WARNING:// source: aicore [tampering detected] source: aicore [update null] Corrupted/t/nReactorOverheating- (or something) [selfDestruct]" It then switched to a warning sign and below it said... "AbsoluteSolver string = False" Flashing, it switched to... "AbsoluteSolver string = True” This is actually some very important lore for a 0.5 second frame.

Please! I wanna see you react to future episodes to see if your theories are correct. It just gets better later on. I think you'll have a lot of reactions one way or another x3

You should definitely check out Liam Vickers animation, as it has a bunch of previous works by him of similar quality (not in animation due to being one man things) which share many of the themes found in murder drones. There is also a creepypasta channel he used to run called Spooky Scary Story Time with Liam where even earlier versions of these concepts can be found. Be warned, however, that Murder Drones is infinitely lighter and softer then his previous stuff. Liam always loves he deep lore as well, and you can trace most of his work back across years, as he has been working on this stuff for a long time.

Only the Murder drone’s saliva neutralizes the nanites, that’s why Uzi stuck her hand in N’s mouth instead of just using her own.

The next episode is absolutely BRILLIANT. 0w0 ALSO, you should def, if you really wanna dig into the bits & breadcrumbs, which I encourage, rewatch several bits frame by frame. These three in particular for the Pilot. N's reboots, Uzi's screen when J is shooting at her, & Uzi's screen when she's talking about killing all humans. That last one you did get a bit of, with the symbol, but there's MORE. There are other places you can pause & frame by frame, but I dunno if they're lore-based or just gag-based. The three I mentioned are the three big ones for this episode. XB The rest of the episodes are similar, always check screens when computer code stuff is showing, best tip to find secrets. Or just...large bits of writing in the background as well. 0w0 As for the "healing spit" it's only the DD spit that heals, in case they stab themselves with their tails. Uzi remembered that their acid effects them & used that against J to win the fight. Also, no, they do not wear pants. None of the drones, DD or WD, have pants on. The DDs & Uzi are around the same ages as far as we can tell per canon. Otherwise, just rewatch if there's other things you didn't understand? Hey Bill, if you're getting into indie animation, I recommend RWBY, a show that was indie but then later picked up by Warner Brothers. It had like a budget of 5$ in the start, so it's a little rough in the biggening. But it grows into a great show with some awesome music and characters. (Music slaps you could do a vid on that first if you wanted.)

Murder drones is definitely worth watching all of! On another note, If you interested in doing more song reactions, I highly recommend listening to Ride the Cyclone the Musical. It is a very emotional (and lighthearted) musical about facing and accepting death, living your dreams, and it’s got some great singing!

One thing that gets me after watching a lot of reactions, a lot of people say "untrained neutral ai" instead of Neural, like neural ai. It is close word wise so I cant harp on it too much but it is something I keep noticing heh.

The comedy making a serious moment not feel as serious is a problem, but ep 7 & 9 looking serious.

The thing is, this pilot is sort of apologizing for its own jokes, since when it was first made, no one knew how it would be received. On the off-chance people didn't like it, it had a way to laugh at itself and make itself the butt of its own "Hey, can you seriously believe this junk?" jokes.

I feel like your one problem and comment about not understanding J and her thing with buzzwords, as well as some "problems" that for some people arise later in the series, can be explained by the simple fact that those are drones whose personalities are based around a thing or an idea, sure, they very much evolve past that and are sentient, but at the very core they don't 100%, or even 90% behave and think like humans, and are still based around that thing

My Theory as to why they have Saliva, Hormones and other Bio Stuff is becouse they are not entirely Mechanic. Like Cyborgs, but instead of 30% Machine, 70% Human they are 80% Machine and 20% Flesh.

The buzz word thing is that the character uses a lot of corporate buzz words, just meaningless jargon that managers love to use to try and build a team and deflect attention from their failures.

Murder Drones and Worker Drones are two distinct drones. The healing spit is a feature unique to Murder Drones as a means for them to heal themselves from their stabby tails if they ever accidentally stab themselves.

I think the dialogue is probably the worst part of the show, which sucks, but I often feel like the dialogue serves no purpose or doesn't hit the mark a lot, favoring humor over guiding the audience. The writing feels like it uses the "show don't tell" aspect too hard but paces everything in a way where its difficult to grasp what's happening or following character motives. It sucks because the lore and building of the this show is SO phenomenally enticing. I still recommend it regardless of that complaint.
