I'm a big defender of ppl not recognising Clark as Superman cause like, if a guy who looked just like you but without a beanie and glasses showed up out of the blue flying around saving ppl I would be like "Oh that's Bill!" I'd be like, "Oh this guy looks kinda like Bill"

How they managed to make everyone hot in different ways is insane

This show feels to me like a reaction to all the "Bad Supermen" that we've had in lots of media recently (Invincible, The Boys, Zac Snyder sort of). It acknowledges the validity of the anxieties a super man invokes, while still showing that Clark is truly heroic. That line, "I didn't know I was bullet proof, I just knew that you weren't" stands out to me. He would do whatever he could to save people, even if he wasn't invincible.

This isn't even close to the first continuity where Lois Lane has jumped off a building to expose Clark as Superman.

Whenever people think Clark should be immediately recognizable as Superman and vice-versus, I'm reminded of the fact that I barely recognize my own COWORKERS when I see them out and about out of uniform. I always have to do a double-take lol, and with someone having the job of freaking SUPERMAN you're much more likely to convince yourself "naaah couldn't have been him". I didn't understand before, but when you land your first job in a public space you realize just how much of an impact looks and social settings have on your ability to recognize people. xD

For the identities of the two characters at the end, the credits confirm the first one is Brainiac. The other is not named but saying "They will kneel" sounds like Zod.

Watching this show as someone who knows DC, you can tell the creators put a lot of care and really did their work when doing this show. Even obscure things, like Flamebird and the Newskids Legion, those are from the comics too. All of these villains were pre-existing (I just thought it was funny in the fight where they all ganged up on Superman, the creators must have been like "shit, none of these guys can fly, can they, how do we do this?", to which someone probably said something like "give them all jet boots, we can get rid of the boots and shit later if we want"), we all knew the General was Lois' dad even before Thanksgiving like that was not shocking, the ending can foreshadow both Brainiac (the symbol with 3 circles, that's usually Brainiac's symbol) as well as Zod (kneel before Zod = they will kneel), combining Amazo with Parasite for two villains with very similar gimmicks I love it, Slade is a bishi-boy twunk who's probably married with kids and not divorced and his future arch-nemeses (Teen Titans) right now are toddlers and that's funny this man is going to have the worst few years of his life ahead of him (I liked how his katana was also a rifle, very creative), all the weapons and stuff in the League of Lois episode (I spotted a couple references to both things from DC as well as Easter Eggs from non-DC things; the Wabbajack stood out to me on the shelf with the hat), the implications that Mr. Myx is the same as the one from the old show (the hat is the same, it just morphs into a crown), All those Evil Superman suits were varying references, Alex is 100 percent going to be Lex Luthor (hates Superman, sometimes depicted as a red-head, Alex = Alexander = Lex, they name-dropped him early on too, like it'd be weird if they gave this meaningless character at the time a name and have him line up perfectly to being Lex) and if he's not I'm going to scream, Vicky Vale which makes some room so that maybe there's Gotham and maybe Batman, I'm rambling, but god there's a lot.

As a die-hard DC fan, I freaking love this. One thing I will say though is that Superman hasn’t really struggled with modern media, he has just struggled outside of the comics. He has a comic series out literally right now that is fantastic, but the creative reigns of the movies have just been given to the wrong people for the past decade, but hopefully that changes with James Gunn’s Superman in 2025!

My Adventures with Superman is just good modern television! I'm glad to see DC finally flex their animation strengths and finally make tv shows for family audiences again. This version is Superman is REALLY GOOD in making the characters feel very human and propelled by how extraordinary they all are.

Big fan of this show, especially all the stuff with Lois, Clark, and Jimmy. The pilot episodes are genuinely the best representation of Superman outside of the comics in my opinion.

Just gonna say right off the bat, DC has never struggled with cartoons. Their film division hasn't been able to get their shit together, but they've been putting out quality animated series and films for over two decades now. As for my feelings on this show: My only complaint has been how bland most of the villain designs have been. I love that they're straying away from base designs, but outside of Mxy, none of them have really been that interesting to look at. Storywise, it's great. I'm always down for a DC elseworlds.

I like to think of Episode 9 being a season finale for the Superman storyline And Episode 10 being a season finale for the Clark storyline. Like how episode 1 was an introduction to Clark And episode 2 was an introduction to Superman.

1st off I also recently had the realization that they Iron Giant him 2nd as I grow I find myself liking Superman more and more which is why I am so glad we got an adaptation like this. One that can show how good Superman can be both as a show and as a character. Also a really good recommendation for something Superman related is the dc animated movie Superman Vs the Elite highly recommend it.

Why is everyone hot? From an interview with a few of the producers: "There's actually a mandate to make everyone as hot as possible, but especially Clark."

I found out about this series, and I love it! Like Superman became my favorite, especially after my grandpa passed. So when this came out, it meant a lot to see superman get a series again after so long! ❤️

The superman show is full of hotties. It really is a good show, i just hope they tighten up a few pacing hiccups for season 2 but over all it's good to see the Man of Steel again.

Finally! This series is so cute~♡ I actually hope this series stays and explores the Superman lore for quite a bit before bringing in other independent DC names (srry, Bill). I like your take on how perhaps public and personal relationships could influence a good Superman (I kind of thought parts of the New 52 comics touched into that a bit), but there are also versions of Superman who are "evil" (usually due to upbringing or from some mind-altering substance) or are so bc of taking certain ideals to an extreme (either bc of trauma or misguided intentions). It'd be interesting if the series explores a bit of that (maybe with this version meeting one of his extreme counterparts?).

I loved this show, although the characters stuff is stronger than the superheroic plotlines. I'd love them to take a whole season doing investigative reporting as a team, uncovering a big scheme by Lex or someone (Guessing we get him at the end of the next batch of episodes) and only having Superman action occasionally. But as long as the leads remain this charming, I'll keep looking forward to whatever they deliver.

Big DC fan. Haven't managed to dive too deep into this show yet but really like what I've seen. Feels like they focused on getting the heart of the characters down rather than worrying about loyalty to surface details.

The versions of Superman that are evil they hint at are actually from other shows and comics, and are typically not raised by the Kents, or have gone through a serious trauma or loss, be it losing Lois, or losing teammates. The AI at the end with the three circles is Brainiac, the guy in the powersuit saying "Kneel" is *probably* Zod?

That was braniac and Darkseid at least ny their easter eggs. Braniac is a rouge AI from krypton and Darkseid is an alien dictator who conquers planets and can often beat superman at full strength in a physical fight. Threatwise it's like ultron and Thanos from avaengers. Not usually a pair and both are high level threats. Braniac from the symbol of 3 dots connected in an almost triangle and "kneel" is a kind of catchphrase from Darkseid. 1st time ive seen a mec/techy Darkseid though. I kind of wondered if it was Braniac from when the tech started glitching sometimes and especially when zero day was revealed. It gave "mind of its own" to me. But the symbol showed so fadt im not sure others caught it. Especially since it's usually on everything but they were careful about waiting to show the symbol.

I'm a HUGE superman fan, this show is one of the first in a long time that did it right! Any good superman show is, at it's core, a Clark Kent show. And if they follow the comics - usually, the deciding factor on if Superman is good or not is Martha and Jonathan Kent. If he isn't found by and raised by them, he never connects with his humanity and becomes more of an alien/human weapon. It's growing up living a human life, and becoming Clark Kent, that makes Superman a hero.

SPOILER ALERT FOR THE LATER EPISODES: Something I’m really worried about is how we are shown Kryptonite affecting Clark. It causes glowing green veins and crystals to start sprouting from his skin, remember? Well, it does the same thing when it disabled the Kryptonian robots. No vein action since they’re not biological, but it caused crystals to sprout instantly from the robots, shutting them down. What worries me is this; what if Clark isn’t fully Kryptonian? What if he was biochemically engineered as a Kryptonian super soldier? We have yet to see other Kryptonians outside of memories and holograms, so we haven’t seen their powers and weaknesses.

Yo man you should watch chainsaw man, know you don't watch alot of anime but the dub is great so it's a pretty easy transition. It's good alot of mental stuff going on and would be a nice change of pace to see something darker on the channel.

you asked for people who know DC really well to react and, admittingly, i do. mostly bc my dad and brother are bigger superhero nerds than me so i grew up knowing Marvel and DC alongside the Berenstain Bears but yeah! i really like this new allegory some superhero media is going with where superheroism is paralleled to queerness/coming out. a lot of queer academia has studied this being why queer people have been especially big nerds of secret identity media (including superheroes) since around the 60s or 70s? but yeah. Superman has often, ESPECIALLY in film but also sometimes the comics, been held up as a Jesus Christ allegory which i just... have never been a fan of. Superman was a WWII response from Jewish comic book creators about Hitler, white supremacy and Jewish genocide, a "supermensch", and so on. ive grown up with more "Superman as an allegory for being an illegal immigrant/being Jewish and dealing with antisemitism" type comics, so the Superman = Jesus Christ allegory always felt kinda lazy to me. but im biased bc those stories also tend to be grim-dark and im on team "Superman is an upbeat guy in a shitty world at worst; more often, Superman's world is about as bright as he is" which im glad this show decided to toe the line on but leans moreso in "just as bright as he is" everything in this show is pretty fucking comics accurate. which is kind of hard to do since almost every comic run is its own universe and has its own rules. so circumstances change. what they cherry-picked around from and what they updated is sick as hell though... like the newsies thing is super comic accurate, i literally gasped in delight at how they were remembered and updated. i love the changes and remembrance oh! and in the comics, Superman and Batman do interact quite frequently. they tend to either be co-workers-ish in an acquaintance style way bc of The Justice League, or they tend to be used as polar opposite ideaologies to clash together. i, and much of the comic fanbase, prefer to instead borrow from more kiddie DC properties and go "Why, yes, Superman and Batman are best friends" because they're just fun to bring together in a black cat (depending on Bruce Wayne vs Batman's personality changes; sometimes he feels more black labrador in some properties) and golden retriever way. i know a lot of people really like Batman: Wayne Family Adventures rn because its the first piece of DC comic book media in FOREVER that hasnt had Bruce Wayne be some form of an abusive father (in tv and movies, he usually is just a "bad dad" rather than straight-up abusive but some properties definitely have him be an abusive dad there as well). which sucks because a lot of the fanbase actually LIKES seeing Bruce/Batman be a good dad and a good person. and his alter-ego differntiation (which one is the mask? are both? are neither? how much does he play up the playboy millionaire himbo thing? how edgy and dark does he let himself go?) is really interesting, esp in contrast to Clark. this show already establishing ties to Gotham makes me really hopeful that we might get our first bit of Not A Shitty Person!Bruce/Batman in a long fucking time. i would love to see this Clark bumble around Bruce Wayne and Batman, especially if Bruce has kids or if this show decides to have him and Superman have an age difference; we rarely see them not be basically the same age (but Bruce would probably be older than 21 before adopting Grayson and the like). im also really curious if theyll do the comics thing of having the pair basically be twins (Bruce and Clark both are white buff men with short cropped black hair and blue eyes. its sometimes hard for comics to differentiate their faces, and some lean into it rather than the opposite. theres one comic where Clark Kent switches places with Bruce Wayne to stop an assassination attempt on Bruce's life, and the attempt accidentally gets Clark really drunk as he fights them off and everyone is like "I didn't know that dumb billionaire could fight like this! What the hell?!". its extremely funny and id love if people got Clark and Bruce confused more than recognizing Clark as Superman. thatd be a hilarious subversion) buT YES! HOT ANIME BATMAN! PLEASE AND THANK YOU!! also, funnily enough with you "Why is everybody hot?" descriptor, a lot of people are going "whAT THE FUCK?? DID THEY MAKE SLADE YOUNG AND HOT??" (bc Slade is normally older and has more of a cult following saying he was hot, rather than have it be a p objective "yeah, he's hot" thing). thats the closest thing ive seen to criticism about the show as an adaptation that i indulge (i do agree with the pacing criticisms, but that's not an adaptation exclusive thing. and then the people complaining about Lois and Jimmy being non-white, i ignore). i see a lot of people really like the changes they made to Lois and Jimmy; Jimmy is usually sidelined as being rather uninteresting to the plot, and i love how this show refuses to forget him, i love that for Jimmy (but also: piNK KRYPTONITE SUPERMAN!! (context: different Kyrptonites interact with Superman in different ways. pink Kryptonite turns Superman into a gay stereotype (it was the early 2000s. an era that was a weird mix of bringing representation for gay people and also being homophobic towards gay people. this was definitely a case of "bringing in 'representation' so we can make fun of them" things, boo) and he flirted endlessly with Jimmy. me advocating for Pink Kyrptonite Superman is just me advocating for Clark to better realize Jimmy is hot lmao rip)) and i love Lois being more conspiracy-theorist-y than she usually is, it lets her add a lot of comedy and life to her character. all these changes are really fucking fun and, again, with the exception of people being racist towards Lois and Jimmy or people being misogynistic about how "Lois can't have short hair!!", i havent REALLY seen any of the comics die-hards be upset with how anything here has been adaptated. they paid attention to some really sick details, breathed new life into it, and made new things happen that felt completely accurate to the world and history of these pre-existing characters. its p fucking cool (and, yeah, Lois jumping off a building thing is comics accurate. most stuff has her do the classic "I shoot Clark Kent with a gun that has no bullets" thing instead though; because then Clark, who is bulletproof and doesn't realize he wasnt ACTUALLY shot, will fake at being hit by a bullet or else gets pissed like "What if I hadn't been Superman? That couldve killed me if I wasn't bulletproof" and Lois is just amused until she reveals "lol i had no bullets, hotshot, you weren't in any danger". i normally see the jump off a building thing be more Mary Jane with Spiderman than it is Lois and Superman. nonetheless, yeah, its really toxic and tiring but Also Unsurprising. im glad they had Clark react the way he did though, that element was refreshing, bc normally Clark is like "lol u so clever and silly" about Lois doing that kinda shit, which is annoying. sometimes he gets pissed for a minute before letting it go. i like how this Clark is properly like "YO WTF THAT WAS TRAUMATIZING, MY HEAD IS SPINNING, I CANT TALK RN, YOU JUST FREAKED ME OUT SO BAD". i love that) but yes, as a piece of Superman media, this is not only really accurate, but its also refreshing and FUN ♡♡♡ i love this show and am so glad i got to see you watch it!! fingers crossed for a season 2 (and with Batman as a guest-star!)!!

So everyone says that Lois in this sires looks like Luz i was fooled by that to but then they had her show her ass straight to the camera😳 in episode 4 people are like Smash then we hear her mom passed away when she was younger same with Luz's dad then she says that she hates Liars but then episode 5 was when i really hated lois so she she finds out Clark is superman by falling off a really tall building on purpose then she she acts like a f****** child screening and shit like come on Lois he just saved your ass and what does she do she screamed in his face then sed what we were doing to be that night going to happen 😡 the i really wanted to kill her she reminds me of ambr from invisible up till that point um in later episodes little the season finale i was ok with her then i forgive her so end of the day do i personally think Lois is a nother Luz NO because Luz was a Waaayyyyyyy better character than this Lois this lois is probably a fan of the owl house and she made herself to look like Luz but that doesn't matter she's not Luz well those are my own opinions.
