the fact that the designer thought using plastic as a jacket shows what hes been smoking, theres still lots to be had with them tho!

Many other manufacturers as far as I could see used metal Plastic is just a stupid idea because all they want is to make it cheap

@@chasesrailwaylinesrr6447 yet, my 0-4-0 has a great cross-tube boiler. It’s like they cheaped out in some ways to keep the price down but yet here is a great boiler.

@@chasesrailwaylinesrr6447 The plastic here doesn't even save them anything, most live steamers just use the modeled boiler as the boiler. And they also added an admittedly decent (not good) but completely pointless sound unit to it. It's pretty obvious they didn't know what they wanted to do with this thing.

yeah aster products are known for having difficulty. I was looking at an aster Reno at one point, decided against making an offer when I watched the guy steam it up and left a trail of fire behind it as it took off, it had a fuel leak.

Haven't had too many issues with my LGB/Aster Frank S., but those had a lot of input from LGB to make them as user-friendly as possible, since the market demographic would be previous LGB customers that weren't used to live steam.

I believe the chassis was made by aster which proves why it preformed so well

@@DeathValleyLumberCompany Probably designed by Aster and made in China. I knew Louis Polk. He used to belong to Tradewinds and Atlantic Railroad before he passed. They didn't make many live steamers. I asked him about it once.

@@steambom3350 I'm pretty sure some of the tooling for AML and Aristocraft is being used by Accucraft these days. AML I know for sure. I could swear I saw something about Aristocraft tooling on Accucraft's website or in a newsletter email, too. Maybe you're right, I can't recall. Either way I guess I assumed they took over the company rather than them having gone out of business.
