On the final weekend of July, Montreal opened the first phase of its Réseau express métropolitain light metro system, from Gare Centrale to Brossard. To celebrate the opening, the system (which is independent of STM, though still offers connections to Montreal's Metro) offered free rides to passengers, and Montrealers, and railfans from across the country took REM up on its offer. Transit Toronto videographers shot a lot of footage of operations, but we start with Richard YS, who toured the line on opening day.
