You are young...I am 91 and got hung on jazz at age 13 listening to Louis Armstrong and his 5/7 band..also to Duke....big bands, bop, Dizzy/Parker....now with TS.....all Jazz....

Shaye is so extremely talented that she could have gone in any direction she wanted with her roots and education with the classical piano that she studied and mastered. I salute her, and wish to support them, for coming down to New Orleans and starting a resurrection to save an early musical art form that we have almost lost. She also possesses a rare ability to locate and work with the very talented band members that she brings to the table. The band is passing the test of time to continue the long road to success, because most young groups like this become worn out, get discouraged, and break up within a very short period of time. Tuba Skinny has shown the determination to continue on well past that point, and after 10 years are continuing to get better every year.

Cornet....trumpet is longer and slimmer....cornet sound is somewhat warmer...to each his/her own, eh. I am glad Shaye selected the cornet...it suits her style of playing and her personality...she is a humble person and not flamboyant as say Dizzy, who is also a great musician. She has some of a Japanese trait not to stand out...like me, a Japanese Canadian.
