Bought his and her Tudors last year (925/1926) they really make some fine timepieces. Great review on an your amazing acquisition. That blue really pops! As always thanks for sharing Rob
Agreed that it’s a literal “book” at the 6 o’clock but this watch is fantastic otherwise. I got the LHD myself (also a barn find) and I love it! I personally can live with the text.
I think having both "chronometer" and "officially certified" is redundant, but I'm not good enough with photoshop to see how omitting either, would disrupt the balance of the text.
Great video. Just picked one up and got it sized had a few links removed. Feels great, sits up higher than my GMT & Explorer II but very comfortable looking forward to wearing this bad boy.
As a owner of the current Pelagos, it surprises me how many people have an issue with the 5 lines of text. I think it aesthetically fits with the snowflake theme and because the hands and indices are so chunky, I barely notice the text, unless I look for it. But I do understand, if it really bothers you, don't get it! Look somewhere else!
Ordered my black one yesterday to replace my recently sold my Sub ceramic date, it was good but not great to me, Im into tool watches & think the Pelagos fits that brief the best.
For a long time I was thinking Pelagos and Aqua Terra two watches combo meal deal and done! I went another way so I could empty my bank account 😄! Great watch Rob.
The Pelagos (IMO) is probably the best (quality) tool watch/diver you can buy. Really this watch is what the modern-day Submariner should have been - the Rolex divers are great watches but really items of jewellery these days. Personally I would love to get my hands on a Pelagos FXD which has full minute indications around the whole bezel (which I think the standard Pelagos should have had), less text on the dial, a slightly slimmer case and no date window.
Love the watch! Why I don't have one is because of all the writing on the dial. Absolutely drives me nuts they squeeze The Book of Genesis on watch faces.
That is one cool watch. I wish more divers had 60 click bezels. They line up so much easier. Undecorated movements don’t bother me, unless there is an exhibition back. Spending extra for a decorated movement I will never see makes no sense to me. If I was looking for a diver in that price range, it would be on my wrist!👍
Love the Pelly, but sadly had to hand the two LHDs I owned back as they hated water! The bezel on both used to lock up when wet and then return to normal when dry. Therefore, I sadly won’t be owning another one. But like I said, awesome watches. Possibly the best modern diver out there.
@@waterzap99 of course. But I’m treating my experience as the minority. Not everyone who owns one will have their bezel seize up. I was just unlucky. Twice.
Pelagos is prob my next serious watch purchase. Having a real hard time deciding between the LHD and the Blue. For my 7.75" wrist its the perfect watch. Throw in some Ti......cmon now.
Thanks for the video, Rob! Two questions: 1) How does the titanium feel on the wrist throughout the day? I’ve read/heard some complain about titanium having a “sticky” feeling on wrist, and was wondering if you felt this too. And 2) Have you tried wearing the watch where the clasp is set to the spring setting? And if so, does it feel tight/restricting on the wrist when you’re at rest? I, again, have read that the spring setting on the clasp offers a much tighter feeling that can lead to some discomfort. Love the videos!
As an owner, I don't believe the Pelagos to be anymore or less "sticky" than my other watches. I have tried the bracelet on the spring setting. If it's too tight on the 4th micro adjustment or first spring setting and too big with an extra link, then you'll probably have difficulty finding a good fit as Tudor does currently offer a half link. I have a 7.3" wrist and wear it with 11 links and on the 3rd micro adjustment setting.
Definitely need your advice. I'm torn between the tudor pelagos and Grand seiko sbga463. Which one would you suggest? Ideally, this purchase would be a long-term watch and stay in the collection. Hopefully, I will pass said watch down to my kids. It would be utilized as a tool watch 2-3 days a week. At work i strictly utilize G shock and Garmin due to other requirements and a metal body watch will not hold up. However, I believe both of the watches I listed could be worn on light duty work days and are light enough to only be a little heavier than my polymer watchs. Thank you for your time.
When I used to ride road bikes I owned a Triumph Bonneville (2011). I met this bloke who owns a Victory and was bragging about how good Victory are and blah blah blah. I turned to him and said “ mate, it may be a Victory but it’ll never be a Triumph “
I owned a Pelagos… in Black. Loved it but I found it a little bulky and practice and ended up selling it to buy a semester professional with the white dial… Even with my 7 1/2 inch wrist I found a Pelagos unwearable.
The Pelagos is Ancient Greek for ocean, πέλαγος, the breathing mark over the ε means to stress the E, and the Gamma (γ or Γ) will be more of a aGggggah Throaty G sound. Kind of like saying Vahn Goh’s last name. PEAH A gWHOS. With a modern pronunciation anyways. Since English is something like 10-20% Greek we already pronounce many Greek words well enough that a native Greek can understand, but will always hear an accent. Pronunciation is more up to the interpreter. When Jaguar came out it was pronounced Jag U R, but Americans called it jaguar like the animal, forcing them to change their mascot to the cat Jaguar. 😊
Used to have an LHD which I love, however I thinned down my collection when I got my Rolex 124060 from my AD as l knew the Submariner would get most of my wrist time. The red ‘Pelagos’ made the 5 line text seemed less. I did get tired of the thickness even though it was light. Once I got my Sub, l was rotating this with my Speedmaster however I missed the Pelagos. My AD surprised me 3 weeks after picking up the Sub and offered me the Pelagos FXD. Absolutely love it and it wears thinner than the regular Pelagos. The bezel action is not as crisp as my LHD but love the non Date dial and 4 lines of text. Fixed bar makes strap changes a breeze. I don’t mind the lack of bracelet as I like wearing NATO’s anyway. I do have the best bracelet in the game with the Submariner. So my main rotation is a Submariner no date, Speedmaster 1863 and Pelagos FXD. Also have an SKX Ninja+ YM Custom, Sinn 856 S UTC and Sinn 103 sa BE as my ‘beaters’.
As far as the specs and technology are concerned, the Pelagos is the better watch. However, Breitling convinces with the thinness and brand prestige. You will get a solid watch with either of both.
Very interested in this especially the weight difference and power reserve difference experience as a user of the watch. Plus, if you had to choose between a second Superocean or a Pelagos, which would you choose and why?
Thé question shouldn’t be if the watch needs it. Do YOU need the helium escape valve…? Do YOU need a dive watch at all…? These questions are a slippery slope. Just love the watch for mastering the environment it is designed to contend with.
A buddy of mine has both. I have tried them both on and they are both great. For me the Pelagos is the winner, but really depends on whether you need the GMT function in my opinion. If not, then the Pelagos is more comfortable and has a better bracelet/clasp.
Great vid. For me, the tool free adjust is no a functional as it could be. Only 3 increments isn't many compared to rolex, omega, c.ward etc. Also no half links! Deal breaker.
For me personally this looks like a million micro brand watches and cant see the appeal of Tudor whatsoever then again Rolex also is a great turn off for me, all these watches are all looking like clones of one another these days and hard to find something original but its good that we are not all the same otherwise it would be a boring world !!
