Oh, Anita! I'm at a loss for words how impactful this video is. Thank you for sharing your history, your evolution, your research, your experiments, your words of wisdom, your words of encouragement and your "why." I appreciate that there is someone out there in the ether who takes the time to share what they have learned to help others. You're the best!
Wowie this has to be my favorite Tuesday Talk. I could be your twin. I am still so glad I found your RU-vid and then your Facebook group. I only started Facebook to keep up with family. I don't post much even to my family group. But I knew I had to join in the love and support that I get from you and the group 💙💙 you and the group have helped me put one foot in front of the other. Thank you, Thank you from the bottom of my heart 💙
Thanks for your honesty and courage! My Mom is why #1. She also had dementia. And,it was excruciating to watch her suffer and I was unable to help her. And, I suffered as much as she diid. My #2 is my kids and their families. I am going to do everything within my power to not follow in Mom's footsteps. I will do anything to prevent them from suffering like that. I deeply desire for all of them to seek their own better health. I’m trying to lead by quiet example...although I want to shake them and say “please listen to me, I can help you!" Wish I could give you a hug , Anita!
You were telling my life story. I am 72 and started Keto in 2019 and had lost 72 lbs. Last year I had an emotional crisis and put on 30 lbs being an emotional eater. I am now restarting my Keto journey and concentrating on my health and staying positive. I have 50 lbs to lose and I know I will get there. Thank you for being there🥰
Anita, how can I convey how dear you are! Kerry of Homestead how is right about how wonderful a contribution to this community yours is!! I'm almost 74, working on health and weight loss from almost the same time you started with the ketogenic understanding, slow progress with weight but many improvements in other areas due to inflammation and autoimmune issues. Grateful for your encouraging way and cheerful presence, your recipes and willingness to share it all. God bless you!
Oh, I feel your pain 😢! I will NEVER forget the day the nurse weighed us in 5th grade. Someone else was writing down the numbers. When she weighed me and called it out loud, EVERYONE in the room turned to look at me. Some kids laughed out loud. The next week my mom took me to the dr who prescribed diet pills...age 10
You have lived so many of our same lives. This video is reminding us all of what we have been through and that none are alone in our journey. My thought was that I didn’t want to stay so big that if I became incapacitated my daughter couldn’t handle me. She actually put all of us in Optivia March 2022! Big mistake. It’s deadly. We all lost weight but it was MUSCLE, not fat. Then I found you and others and it has changed my life. My anniversary was yesterday and saw my cardiologist. I’ve lost 66 lbs, my blood pressure was 110/62, lowered meds to half, removed me from A-Fib meds but will watch for 3 months. Triglycerides in normal range, everything GOOD. I have pulmonary hypertension and even the pressure in my lungs is lower, and I swear my sight is better. Hugs to you for you struggles. It fits so many of us to a tee. Being a caretaker is the hardest job on the planet. I too cared for my mom. An most of all this was the BEST VIDEO and not a waste of our time. THANK YOU!
Thank you for sharing your ongoing journey.....my path has been similar....chubby child, WW at 12...poor self image...etc...Top weight 330(2019). Got down to 150(2021).....got lazy...back up to 211....back on track!! Currently 199!! I'm embarrassed to confess the weight gain but it's the truth of the constant struggle. I appreciate your encouraging words! God Bless! 😊
🎯It absolutely IS "the truth of the constant struggle"! I think what most of us are after is a sustainable, ENJOYABLE way of eating that gets us off of that annoying up/down ride~ it's not fun. The older (& wiser) I get, the more clearly I see the overall effort. In the past, it's been about weight loss, getting back to my happy pant/dress size, etc. With all of the information now available, as well as my own looming mortality, I'm primarily after optimal health & longevity~ w/"happy pants" being a bonus😂. I also realized the same God-given discernment that guides daily life is super helpful when I remember to include what I used to consider the mundane, such as what I eat & why~ slow learner, this one. *When I read someone sharing (confessing?) or blessing another, it reminds me how much I still fumble w/taking ALL things to Him- nothing is too small. I appreciate these reminders. May your own efforts be blessed Rebecca~ Thank You💓 ~Samantha in AZ
Wonderful brilliant woman. Thank you from Australia. My story is so similar . My sister 3 years older, and never over weight, fat shamed me many times. Of course we fell out and I haven’t seen her for 19 years and never want to. What a pity to loose a family member over that. Which was not my fault. Last time I saw her she called me a “f@t cow”/*. Which shocked me to the core. So hurtful especially since I tried hard to loose weight. Never a happy day in 50 years till finding first keto and than carnivore. Have lost 103 lbs. more to go but I revel in the triumph of not the fattest woman in the room.
For some reason youtube showed me this comment today! (Jan 14 2024). You have done so well and your sister doesn't deserve you if that is how she treats you. I hope you are still on this journey! You deserve to look and feel your best!
Just as you found Kelly, we found YOU! Thanks for sharing the reality about changing lifestyles and getting healthy. Maybe overused, but “ the struggle is real”. Thank you.
I LOVE, “I’m going to move towards health!” The scale number really means so little unless you have the right scale that can measure lots of other stats. Get healthy and the body will reflect it! Wonderful video!
If I could "like" this video one million times... I would. Such truth for many of us in so many ways. Thank you Anita, for all you do. You da best!🌞🌻🌞 Move towards HEALTH!!!
Thanks for sharing this story with us. I have always been overweight and at 82 I've decided to get down to a more reasonable number. I'm blessed in that I can still enjoy the things that I love to do like sports, bicycle trail riding, golf and doing everything for myself. Cooking is not one of my strong points but I've found that for the Carnivore diet it is mandatory. I'm so happy that I found your channel because you provide reasonable options for both Keto and Carnivore and you love a lot of the same foods I do, like sardines. I like you presentation style which is slow enough for me to enjoy the presentation and also jot down the ingredients you give for options. Thanks again.
Thank you, Anita for being so brave and selfless in sharing your story. Your “down to earth” approach is so relatable. I love your channel, your recipes and of course Teddy and Pipi❤.
Thank you Anita. This helped so much. I too used Atkins for many years (since 98). I didn't realize it was dirty Keto but it was all there was. Now I am ketovore... some days carnivore some days plain keto. I didn't realize I felt guilty for doing Ketovore until I heard you talking. Thank you for your honesty, it really helps.
Don't ever feel guilty about being ketovore! Can you imagine how healthy the population would be if everyone was ketovore? If we all cleaned up our diet to the best of our abilities I think that's great. And it's enough for most people to do that.
What an amazing person you are! I am thankful for all of your ideas, encouragement and recipes but most of all I am thankful for you honesty and compassion. You present such a variety of food options to all of us. This journey called life is a never ending learning experience and I am grateful for all you have shown me and look forward to more great videos.
You are very genuine. Great practical advice. I'm a 65 year old guy in Oregon USA. I've been on "dirty" carnivore for one year. Lost about 70 lbs and have never felt hungry. A ways to go and weight loss has slowed but it's SLOWLY working.
What a great story! Sounds a lot like mine! I had forgotten about all the crazy diet products! One difference was my mom, dad & brother were ALL thin! I was the only chubby one in the family!
This is exactly why we watch you Anita! You share your knowledge, research, experiments, and personal evolution with such humility, warmth, understanding, and caring. You admit your own struggles and accept ours. Thank you for being you. ❤
I enjoy your journey because it is an example of continuous process improvement. You try new changes, evaluate results, tweak your approach and keep what works and discard what doesn't. You recognize that each of us may have a different outcome and encourage us to find what works for us. Thank you for sharing so many options for us to try. 👍🤗🥳
I loved watching your story! You have taught me so much since starting carnivore, it allowed me to jump forward without as much experimenting. I try things often that worked for you and have lost several clothing sizes & been able to go off 3 medications so far. Feeling better than in years!! Keep on with what you do, no telling how many people like me you've helped and will help in the future.
I loved this talk and I am sure it will be a familiar tale to so many of us. Thank you for taking the time to share your story and congratulations on your continued progress. The ending about your mother is a good reminder that it’s not always about the scale victories but also about a healthy future and I know one day if I am given grandchildren I want to be a fit and healthy grandma not a sedentary, exhausted and immobile one. That last bit solidified that for me now. Carnivore is what has proven to be the golden pill for me, especially the BBBE challenge.
Thank-you for your kind, encouraging words. My "why" is similar; after watching my mother go down the path of heart disease and dementia. Knowing now what I've learned about metabolic health has made me realize that the advise she was given by her doctors was what sent her down that road. I don't want to follow, I don't want my children to follow that path. You are amazing, thanks for your story. 😄
We seem to be part of that generation that has been tasked with caring for our parents and hopefully seeing the issues with enough time to change our own destinies!
Thank you so much for sharing your story, Anita! Like you, my why is to not go down the same path as my mom. It's so heartbreaking to know that most, if not all, of her health issues could have been prevented by eating differently.
WOW! Thank you for sharing your story! I see by the comments section I wasn't the only person going through this decades long struggle. We all are doing the best we can. It doesn't help that our food product developers are selling us substandard (and in some cases, hazardous) ingredients in products other countries wouldn't touch. Eating unprocessed food is the only way to go. Thank you for all you are doing to help us. We love you. 👏💕👏
This was great thank you so much for the encouragement! Im now where you once were....my mom is going to be 84 next month and I am her primary caregiver. She is also obese and suffering self induced medical issues and my dad was the same way. I recall about 10 yrs ago looking at my dad in his recliner. He had eaten himself to such a state that he could only walk to the table to eat or the bathroom. As I stared across the room at him I remember thinking " I do not want to be like that when Im that age!". In that momement he became one of my greatest teachers! I am still a work in progess but I have went down from 198lbs to 168lbs. I still want to lose about 20 lbs and I will in my time!
As hard as it was, I agree with you, caring for my Mom was valuable to me and gave me strong motivation to change. Her loss of dignity was especially hard for me to watch.
Thank you Anita, I have been on this keto now carnivore journey for a few years. And mostly initially to encourage my daughter with diabetes to make changes , which she has and is doing so good. But sadly my mum who also has diabetes only will listen to her doctor and almost proudly says he has increased my insulin. And doesn’t see the connection with her other health issues to what she is eating. It is very sad to see the people around you so addicted to sugar. And they can’t see it.
I so enjoyed this video! Thank you for being so transparent and open. Weight loss and just being a normal weight has been a life long struggle for me also, I’m so grateful that I found d your page. Thank you for all that you do❤️
So wonderful story. I totally relate, even have a skinny sister!! I’m 76 and have lost 25 lbs but it is very slow. But… I’m off my blood pressure meds, cancelled a knee surgery because my pain went away. I love this way of eating. Thank you again I love your channel.
Excellent video! You have a great conversational tone, and it was nice to hear your story; it has many similarities to my own, and I’m sure to many others! I too did many of those diets you mentioned, as well as Weight Watchers several times too of course (too bad there isn’t a “Carb-Watchers” franchise out there instead!)… It makes me so sad to think of how we all have been given such bad dietary information over the decades, and that most of that misinformation still continues today as so-called conventional wisdom unfortunately. We all have to be our own advocates, and we are really up against it in this carb-centric world we are living in. I have been keto since January 2020 (the year I turned 60 and retired), having lost about 100 lbs and reaching my goal weight after the first year and a half or so, but recently I have gained back about 10 lbs and am now realizing I need to change things up again to get back to where I want to be. Probably I need to focus on total carbs, not net, which is pretty much code for being more carnivore… Regardless, though, I am keto for life now! Btw, greetings from Ottawa 🇨🇦 😉!
wow, congratulations on your success! For me net carbs is long gone, our bodies don't know what we are subtracting to arrive at net carbs! Nice to meet another Canadian on here! 🍁
❤Anita, your story is so reflective of so many! You are such a shining light and beacon of hope! Thank you for sharing your story and creating this sisterhood of support.
LOL! shame on anyone who gave you flack about sardines! More power to you! You did it and not everyone can tolerate them! I was empowered by you and Dr. Boz to try them but I hated them! It was sort of the taste, but really the little fins! Hahaha! If I can't deal with them, that is my issue and I will find something else! Thank you for sharing your journey!
I found your you tube site a few weeks ago. I was happy to find a woman in my age group! And u r Canadian! I love your presentation style, u r loving and caring. And your voice is pleasant to listen to. Recently I was told I have stage 3 kidney disease. I need to lose weight!! I do not want more problems. Carnivore seems like a plan I can live with. In 2 weeks I have lost 10 pounds. I look forward to all your video’s. Keep up the good work!!! Hugs from Edmonton😊❤
My 59 yr old brother was able to bring his stage 2 or 3 kidney disease back to normal healthy lab numbers in less than a yr on a very low carb diet. His doctor was shocked. Said he would not have believed it had he not seen it.
@@suzikirby1973 thanks for letting me know about your brother. Most kidney Dr’s say don’t use salt and eat Whole Foods I hope to show my nephrology Dr in Aug that I improved things with carnivore and continuation of salt intake.
What a sobering but beautiful testimony. I had an epileptic sister (oldest) but once I discovered the ketogenic lifestyle she had already passed. I share what I know today with my siblings (I’m 7 of 8 siblings), most don’t care, I love them but I let my health speak for itself. I like watching Kelly’s YT videos, she seems like a very sincere (and sweet) person!
I’m sibling 8 of 8 and I have sent them all the info I have found n learned n they still don’t want to change. The go to Doctors all the time n believe ALL the doctors tell them. Very disheartening.
I had lost 90 pounds on Keto but suddenly came to a stand still for months. My doctor prescribed Mounjaro and my weight loss is moving again. Now have 125 pounds off. (I need weight loss for upcoming surgery.) Just a suggestion for those struggling with a stubborn plateau.
U look sooooo different from ur move to the new house..ur face is so thin hard work pays off congrats.. greetings from NC USA KOKO keep on keeping on..I have a sister who may have hit 125 pregnant size two..me 350 at 5 ft 4 found keto at 61 years old down 130 lbs 1year 60lbs to go all the same diets..
You are so fantastic,, every thing you ever tried i did too over the years. I joined the carnivore family in january 2022went from 2 30 pounds to 145 pounds by december of the same year.
For me, this was a pep talk...my story is quite similar to yours and we are the same age. So listening to you is much easier than some of the younger folks. Kelly Hogan not included. Lol 😂
You are amazing! Thank you for sharing this. I am in my 60's and have been morbidly obese since I had my first child over 35 years ago. I also tried every single diet known to mankind, and some worked for a little bit of time, then I would gain it all back plus more. In 2013 I was given 10 years to live and went on 15-20 prescriptions per day. I was dying, and I wanted to die. I asked my doctor if there was anything I could do besides sit back & die, and he told me there wasn't and I believed him. In 2019 I moved to a cabin in a mountain in Utah, where I had to drive an hour into a town to get food, so I stocked up on meat & frozen veggies. There was no junk food on the mountain, and in 6 months I lost 60 pounds. I went off of all medications and felt better than I had since I was a teenager. I reversed Lupus, Fibromyalgia & a plethora of other health issues. It is 10 years since I was told I would be dead by now and I'm stronger & healthier than I have ever been in my life. I still have 40-50 pounds to go, but I am taking it one step at a time, one day at a time. You are truly an inspiration to me, and I am so grateful that I found your channel. I'm now going to look into joining Kelly's coaching group also as I've come to a standstill am and stuck so need all the help I can get. 🙂 Thank you, Anita. God bless you for helping so many people; you have no idea the impact you are having on us. ❤🙏
Oh my goodness! Your story is the most amazing inspirational story I've heard! Please contact me if you ever want to talk at anita at ketogenicwoman.com
I so much appreciate your sharing your journey. It encourages me to keep on going. I am a type 2 diabetic. Low carb has really been the only way of eating, along with fasting from time to time, in which I have been able to lose weight and get my A1C under control. I have even been able to stop using diabetic meds in doing so. I still have a considerable amount of weight to lose but I am sticking with low carb for the long haul. Sadly, while it is highly recommended to do all this under a doctor's supervision, I have yet to find a family doctor or endocrinologist, around here who is on board. The best I have heard is "keep doing what your doing" without the least bit of interest in what I have been doing, to being scolded for starving myself and a warning that I would have to eat this way for the rest of my life (yah, like as a diabetic I could ever go back to eating guided by the standard Canada Food guide). Maybe one day (soon I hope) there will be medical practitioners and dietitians around here who will support this way of life.
Hi Anita, I just started carnivore a week ago today. I can’t tell you how happy I am that I found you. You are so down to earth, so natural that I love listening to you. I get tired of the “super model look, or the hooker look” on RU-vid these days. When I’m watching a video on anything I personally don’t want women’s boobs to be the only thing showing on the screen. Listening to you is like listening to a friend or a neighbor. That is so refreshing. Thank you for what you do. I am “eating up” lol your content.
I am responding to a comment you made concerning all the flack you have been getting about the sardines. My heart is filled with gratitude. I am on a extremely low budget and desperately want to radically change my food consumption and rid my body of all the toxic sugars and carbs. My go to protein was eggs and ground beef, until inflation made it too costly. I appreciated your recipes on preparing sardines in a variety of ways, because it is affordable for me to purchase. Again...thank you for sharing!
Thank you Anita, I really appreciate hearing your story. I think your so right about not setting our sights on a weight goal, but rather a health goal. I went Keto 8 years ago for my daughters seizure disorder(she developed seizures in jr high following one of the jabs/shots), but I digress. I went Carnivore 4 years ago and after the first six months lost a little weight, but it wasn't until I incorporated alternate day fasting and days of eating were 2MAD & 1MAD....I lost all the weight I wanted and then some. I kept it off for a year & a half ...had some stress in my life, but didn't change my diet but the weight crept back up...and I tried so much tinkering since to little avail. So now I will focus on health(mental/spiritual/physical),...I enjoyed being that smaller person fitting into cute small clothes, but I realize I am still the same person no matter what size and have to love myself XOXO
The locus of control you speak of Anita is so empowering. What do we have actual control over? This game changer of locus shifts our perceptions, responses and motivations. The effects will follow. Beautifully shared! I think a Happy Birthday this month is in order too. Wishing you many years of health and wellbeing. 🍥🍥🍥 (Pancetta swirl)
Thank you for your personal story. This is very helpful for me. I'm 68 and have a lot to lose . Other influencers' have lost most of their weight and are younger, so we don't get what they did to get where they are now. And I really needed to hear this today, so thank you so much for this.
Some of us do have decades of damage to heal so it takes longer for sure. It's hard to not compare myself to the younger ones who jumped on, got to their goal and live happily ever after! I've never felt better so am taking extra Vitamin G supplements (Gratitude!)
Oh, Anita, thank you so much for sharing your journey. You are so real, so kind and so helpful. You’ve shared your journey, your mistakes, your wins, and your expertise for the rest of us that are on our own journey. God bless you and thank you for such informational and real input!
Thank you Anita so glad you made this video! Whether You helped thousands of people or just me I am ever so grateful for your heartfelt sharing of your story. You my Lady are a genuine Blessing to me and your audience… A million thank yous wouldn’t be enough but I’ll say it again and again, Thank you! I am a fairly new subscriber but not new to life! 73 and struggled with my weight and insecurities all my life and I’ve been trying the Carnivore / Ketovore way of eating for about 3 months now. I did try keto once 2018 and lost about 35 lbs but started to develop a lot of health issues that I had never had before so I got scared and quit about 4 months in.. I then Gained all my weight back I lost and still had the health issues so I knew it wasn’t the diet but just my way of eating started catching up with me.. There is so much stress in my life (long story) and after binging on your RU-vid’s and Dr Berry’s videos, I know the cortisol I released has caused a great deal of the stall and regain of part of the weight .. and going back to carbage took care of the rest! Anyway I’m struggling with losing now again and seemed to have stalled .. I am wanting that sweet taste again so the artificial sweeteners may be something I need to ditch… Not giving up just reassessing what I need to do now.. Thanks again for all your encouragement.. Be Blessed my friend!!
Wow, thank you so much for you kind and supportive comments! I am so happy that you came back to this and please don't ever give up! It takes time for us to heal years of damage!
Kelly was my introduction to carnivore in 2015. I was desperate. Desperately sick, physically and mentally, plus obese. It changed my life. Sadly, when the weight loss slowed, I began looking for other things, but I took away the biggest thing, which was that oxalate has a very negative impact on my physical and mental health. At 65 I'm so anxious to get past this fat life once and for all. I keep gaining and losing the same weight. Thank you for giving me the courage to keep looking at/for what works for me!
I loved this talk. Years ago I read "It's not what you are eating, it's what's eating you" I could not identify with that AT ALL. I had bad information, we all did. You are such a help. Thank you so much. ❤️
first time seeing you and I got such a blessing . I feel like I know you and you are the type of loving , kind person that all of us need in our life . Keep up the good work and thanks again.
Wow, thank you Anita for being so open and honest about your journey. I find you to be so inspirational. Bless you, and all the best for your health. Ps (I watched a Dr Box video regarding how important our average blood glucose ( hba1c) reading is. Before watching this, I was all about weight loss, and health secondary… Now I’m all about lowering my Hba1c, and insulin, and raising my ketones.) Thanks again. Angie from Down Under 😊
Wow! You are growing your channel by leaps and bounds!! Two years and 58+k!! You go girl!! Kelly Hogan is my top choice of carnivore people, too. Anita you are perfectly perfect in every way! I see a caring, kind and generous woman in you. Thank you from the bottom and top of my heart! ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
Anita wow amazing talk today. It really was not long. Filled with your history and journey. Everyone will take something from it for their journey We are blessed to have you! Bravo ❤ debi
