Here is what happened to me yesterday. After a little research this is what I found out. Maybe this will help you one day as well. Please like, share, and subscribe. Thank you.
So thank you for this. I was having the exact issue in a 2007 Crewmax and have been chasing it for a while. Random alarms going off finally noticed the dbl locking. Ends up it was similar. I had replaced the speakers in the rear driver door. Apparently when I did I didn’t click the cable for the lock in all the way. It came loose. Because of this video I manually cycled all the door lock and found that one was springy. Took off the door panel clipped the cable into the bracket and that fixed it. Thanks again this is the reason I found it and I hope both our experiences help others.
Gear another cool function on the Tundra, if your door locks ever do fail, insert the key into the driver door and turn the key towards the rear of the truck and hold it, all the windows will roll down. I had an actuator go out while in the locked position at work and it was the only way I could gain entry into my Tundra.
I have a ‘14 Limited Crewmax. When the doors are locked, inserting the key in the drivers door lock and turning to the right lowers the front windows and opens the moonroof. Turning to the left closes the front windows and moonroof. I’ve had the truck for over 8 years at this point but never knew it.
Good info. I’m having this problem right now with my 2017 Limited Crewmax. Long history but initially this happened with the front passenger lock not responding to unlock or unlock command from the key fob or the automatic lock command when you select drive. Brought it to dealer and they ordered a new door actuator. However before the court showed up it started working on it’s own again. Fast forward to the last couple weeks. Now I have the problem on the driver side door lock. Weirdest thing is it’s intermittent. Sometimes the system works perfectly and other times it will not work and only the driver side lock will not respond to key fob or drive command. It’s driving me nuts. It’s not the key fob because it happens with both. Those intermittent problems are the worst. Thanks for this video gear runner. I’ll get this figured out eventually.
Thank you. Had the same issue with my 2019 Tundra Crewmax. Went around all 4 doors manually pushed the locks on and off and then hit the fob and it worked. Thanks for the video.
The vehicle is trying to tell you that something isn't right, but it isn't always clear what isn't right. This is very good info. I had a mystery beep when I opened the driver's door after shutting off the engine. I couldn't figure out what the reason for the beep was. It wasn't there previously and obviously something had changed. Like you, I Googled it and discovered that it was the sunroof not completely closed. We're talking millimetres (minute fractions of an inch) and I had the sunroof tilted up several days previously. I thought I had brought the sunroof back down and it certainly looked like it was closed. It was open just enough to trigger a warning sensor, it was just not clear what the sensor was trying to tell me. I just bought a 2019 Tundra CrewMax and I will be watching for this. Right now I am getting used to using a key to start the ignition after years of push-button start. It is no big deal, but a lifestyle adjustment. I love the Tundra and I am planning to pull an RV, so this is the ideal tow vehicle. Thanks for sharing your experience, I will watch for this one.
David Coutts Thank you. Like you I was like, why isn’t this beeping at me. I couldn’t find much on the internet but was lucky enough to find just the right thread.
I’m almost wondering if this has something to do with installing aftermarket led’s. Seems to be an issue that happens with people that have replaced their interior lights with leds or have added/replaced exterior led lights possibly causing a short somewhere? Mine has done this intermittently; it happened almost a year ago and I was thinking it was because it was cold (happened during the winter). Almost a year later, it’s happened again but definitely isn’t as cold as it was last time it happened 🤔
My father-in-law had the lock actuator go bad on the drivers door on his 09 Prius so it never beeped when you hit lock or unlock on the key but the lock would work like it’s supposed to if you pushed the unlock button on the passenger door.
How do you turn the chime on and off? When I lock or unlock my truck, it doesn't beep ever. It's been like this since I got the truck last year. I want it to beep. Any input?
Rudy The Cuban That all depends on how the lock is positioned Rudy. Mine at work stayed in the unlocked position. I had to manual lock it. I would rather it be in the locked position also. If I had a choice.
I don't live where I worry too much about my doors being locked or not locked. If I had to worry about it I guess I would follow the rule: DON'T keep valuables in my vehicle. Secondly I would rather have a crook get in unabated vs. smashing my window. The only lock concern I have is not having the door locked while driving for safety reasons.
Graph Guy I live nowhere near a ghetto however we still have people that will go through neighborhoods trying to get into unlocked cars and go through them looking for stuff.
On my 2003 Toyota Tundra you hit the unlock button on the remote if you don't get to the door quick enough it relocks. For example husband unlocked it in the house walked out to the driveway by the time you got to the truck the door locked. Same with me unlocked it walking to the truck and got to the truck, door relocked.
My Focus has sort of the same thing. Not with the locks though. So if any of the doors is NOT fully shut and I get out of my driver seat and go to lock the car it’ll actually beep twice quickly and I’ve learned about that. I thought it was so cool.
My actuator went out, but the alarm beeps were fine. The door just wouldn’t unlock with the key fob. Mine is a 2015. Maybe that’s something for the newer trucks.
I have a 2007 Sequoia and my key fob works like it’s supposed to. Over the past 2 weeks something strange has been happening. It’ll lock with the beep, even making sure by pulling the handles to check it. 3 different times now my daughter and I walk up to get in, she pulls on her handle and opens her door...before I’ve even got my keys out. The second time was when I found the driver door not pushed shut and my rx sunglasses on my armrest instead of in the overhead holder. I checked the security footage and sure enough, some punk rummaged through all my stuff! What was shocking was to see him walk right up and open the door after I know for a fact I’d locked it twice before bed (I didn’t hear it beep the first time but my daughter said she heard it.) We checked with the prior owner (fiancé’s boss) and he said it was strange that it would do that occasionally but didn’t know why. Any input, suggestions, or answers for this situation?
I found that if mine does that, slamming the door a bit harder solves it. Absolutely weird. EDIT - I now have to have the door actuator replaced. Nice!
The other day parked locked doors to set alarm and when I came back out the truck was running. I do have remote start. I was close by with in close distance to my truck checking out exercise bikes. So perhaps it got pushed to start and I didn’t know it. So as you were I’m on a diet. No meat, fats or dairy products and processed foods. Been over 3 weeks. Feeling better.
Asaf Farfar I really need to get back on my diet. I have a hard time finding time to work out. I mainly just ate chicken all the time. That got very old quick. Good luck on the diet. You can do it. 👍
Great Video.. new subscriber... My 2010 will NOT lock if my cell phone is plugged in charging and on Bluetooth. Also I get a long, continuos beep if a door is not closed all the way.
A curious issue I just ran into today that I wonder if this is related. I know about the door actuator issue when they wear out, I have a replacement for the pass. side, just haven't put it in yet. So over the weekend the pass. side door lock mysterious STARTED working consistently even though it's been mostly dead since I bought this truck a few months ago. Today I stopped to get coffee with the daughter who exits out of the rear driver-side passenger door. Locked the truck, got the beep, all good (I check the door handles religiously too like a dog doing the 360 check before laying down now). I come out, door unlocks, I jump in the truck and its DEAD. No odometer, no lights, NOTHING. Uhh... Okay. Brand new Ultima red top, it's not the battery. Terminals are tight. Hit the door lock on the fob out of habit, truck unlocks again. ??? Jump in and the truck fires right up like usual. I wonder if it's related to the door lock issue and maybe anti-theft is kicking on??
@@gearrunner Got kinda lucky on this one. After a rather exhaustive T&E chasing possible problems, it turned out to be a faulty light kit the previous owner installed in an aftermarket bumper. Pulled a fuse from a really crummy wiring job, fiddled with their also crummy negative lead tie-in, and bam! Back to ol' reliable Tundra. Phew! I hate chasing wiring issues, but at least I didn't have to rip out all the looms to get at the problem.
Say now, you fellas got to know when the mrs. gets in and out of the rig she gets to bumpin on all them buttons... specially the courtesy light button for inside and on the back of the cab....then when she's leaning in hits that button on the seat for the lumbar and deflates that thing, sets that seat back so far old fred got enough space in front of him that four Finlanders couldn't jump over.....and you know why ! Cause she's one a them reeel big gals....
Same thing happened to me. I found out it was from when I changed the setting to not honk the horn when you lock and unlock your truck. I changed the setting back and it works perfectly fine again. Hope this helps.
kingofthecrease30 one no problem the lock just got hit when someone got out of the truck. Placing it in between lock and unlocked. The truck is actually smart enough to recognize this and let you know that it happened.
