So here is the 3 year review of my Tundras S&B cold air intake. I’ve tried several configurations and this is the one I like the best. Please like, share, and subscribe. Thank you. S&B Cold Air Intake: www.sbfilters.com/cold-air-in...
Always use paper air filter instead of gauze filter. Had a brand new engine built for me years ago in a Jeep project. K&N was on backorder. Used paper until it came in, checked oil level weekly. Dip stick had golden color to it every week. K&N came in, swapped filters & week later oil was black. Did an oil change, week later checked the level & oil was black. Switched back to paper & another oil change, oil stayed golden for over a month. That was all the evidence I needed to never use a gauze filter again.
I just bought a 2019 TRD Off-Road. (5.7) Been doing research on CAI systems. 99% of people on Tundra forums advise to just leave stock box on and use drop in K&N. Now watching this I’m not sure which way to go...
liked the video, wish you would have cranked it up to also hear the install. and also any updates to gas mileage, other performance after the timeframe... etc..
Looks like a good setup. I normally don't like cold air intakes because of how sensitive the calibration of the airflow sensor is to having it's home changed, but this looks like a pretty nice setup, and you haven't experienced driveability issues so they did their homework.
I read your earlier reply saying that mpg increased by 1/2? That plus more the extra horsepower and engine sounding better, just wanted to know your thoughts if it is worth it? Just weighing the pros and cons before spending that kind of $$$ for it...
Would you say the the performance change is noticeable compared to OEM? I bought my 2016 with a TRD filter in the OEM intake so I don't know what true stock would feel like.
Just wondering why you chose that intake instead of trd one ? I'm about to buy an intake I just got done doing all 4 rotors an brake upgrade to drilled an slotted, so intake is my last thing I plan on doing ive Done a ton of stuff already.
Morning, I got the s and b because of you. Wanted to catch you on the clear tape that you use when you put your fender flares on. The rubber trim is peeling away on the drivers side rear where the gas tank is. Was gonna apply that tape when I replace the rubber part. Getting rubber trim from sparksparts by the way using gearrunner!!!! Thanks
I heard that you liked the filter and the potential pros and cons of the different types of filters but I don't think I heard anything about what the filter actually did for your truck? Was there any noticeable improvement in performance, MPG, etc? Thanks!
If I install this on my Tundra, then will it void my 7 year platinum warranty from Toyota? If it does what intake can I use, so that it won't void my warranty?
The only intake that I know that Toyota actually recognizes is their TRD intake. I think though if you read on S&B’s website they say they will cover any warranty pertaining to the intake that the manufacturer denies but you might want to double check that. They may have changed it since I purchased mine. I also don’t know how hard it would be to get them to do that either.
@@gearrunner Thanks for the reply. I will check it out. BTW, do you know an auto custom shop in Nashville that has experience lifting Tundras with the Westcott Design lift kit?
Great video really , but you talked about giving a 3 year review and fell short of that !! You recommend it but you never talked at all about if it helped your Tundra ??!! Better gas mileage , better get up & go , was their any improvement ????!!!!!
