The artist, Don Rosa, won an "Eisner Award" (the highest award for the comics industry) for his Scrooge McDuck graphic novel. Tuomas said it is probably his favorite all-time work of fiction.

Tuomas continually finding new ways to touch our hearts, again and again... just amazing. This heart of mine is old, crusty, broken and jaded, yet he finds away to bring a tear and give it new life with every offering. He is a cosmic gift to all of us fortunate enough to have discovered him.

As I've said many times before, Tuomas doesn't write music, he writes magic.

Johanna Kurkela, a.k.a. Mrs Tuomas Holopainen - the voice that speaks the Shakespeare quote in Nightwish's "Shoemaker". The other singer is Johanna Iivanainen, whose husband Mikko is the guitarist.

The song and video are so incredibly powerful and emotional knowing Don Rosa's story - he should be a national treasure but in his own words "people in North America don't read these comics, they read very few comics at all". Having met him on a couple occasions at conventions etc, extremely kind guy and super approachable. Even as someone who's not the biggest fan of the Nightwish of recent years, this whole album is amazing and does Don and his work more than justice; you should listen to it in its entirety at some point in your own time, definitely worth it.

I discovered Nightwish when I was 17. I'm going on 30 now and have yet to find one thing Tuomas writes that I don't like. His music has helped me through my depression.

One big part what makes Nightwish so great, is that gift what he has: Seeing an landskape and seeing it as a music, what he writes out from head. It's that therapy for Him, he can't live without. In same time we as listeners are blessed to get that "personal music therapy too". Works, may I say. Over the years everybody changes a lot and Tuomas has come more mellow. I'am so happy that He and Johanna found each others. She is one special flower, like a Fairy. Muse for that great composer. Met them breafly, when got to new Nightwish museum in Kitee. Tuomas has now long holiday's at home. Hiking in the forrests, getting some muchroom( don't mean magic ones😊). I think we will see in future, what came out from this Korona, musically.

Hey Jen, the older Men in the video is Don Rosa the comic book artist that drew the "live and times of scrooge" and taking over from the great Carl Barks. Tuomas met Dona Rosa at a Comic convention and told him he would do an Sound Track for the the life and times of scrooge. Rosa not Knowing Tuomas or Nightwish was "year that great, best of luck with that". 4 Years later Rosa got an Letter and a first Demo Tape and was Awe Struck, The Artwork he Finished is the Actual Cover of the Album. That "to Tuomas Picture" you mentioned is a actual one piece drawn by him sepcially by him for Tuomas as a memory for there work together. the entrie live and times Album is full of guest works from friends from Tuomas like Tony Kakko from Sonata Artica, Finnish Jazz Guitatis Mikka Iivanainen (who played the solo you just saw), a certain Troy Donockly^^, and Pip Williams and The London Synphonic Orchestra. best regards " a Dark Poet"

Jen It is two years later, I found that original artist, Carl Barks created Scrooge McDuck. Then 22 years ago, Carl Barks died at the age of 99. Don took over the duties of Scrooge McDuck.

To know more about Tuomas, there is a finnish doc called "maan mainiot" over 10y old.. I think there are 6 parts and eng subs.. That hit me like a truck.. Tuomas also wrote a song called "Lohtu" (comfort) for the children hospital.. In video there is a lot of finnish singers... Also her, Johanna with White horse. The first vocalist you hear was Tuomas wife Johanna Kurkela (you already did hear her speak Shakespeare's poet in 'Schoemaker' (NW last album 'Human in Nature') and (secondly) Johanna Iivanainen on backing vocals. Tuomas adoration for storytelling also draw him towards Wald Disney and (Keno) Don (Hugo) Rosa (Louisville (Kentucky), June 29, 1951) who is an American comic book author who is best known for his stories about Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck and other Disney characters witch giving us all lifetime adventures. Don Rosa was introduced to the Donald Duck stories of 'The Duckman' Carl Barks early on, and dreamed of one day making those stories himself. In 1987 he was allowed to make his first Duck comic for publishing house Gladstone. His first story was The Son of the Sun, a story about Scrooge McDuck. In this story and the stories that followed, it turned out that he had a writing style very much like Barks's own. In most of his stories he also hides the letters D.U.C.K. in the first or last drawing. (in his earliest stories this has been removed). This stands for 'Dedicated to Uncle Carl from Keno'. But except D.U.C.K. he also often hides a drawing of Mickey Mouse. Mickey is then usually in an unenviable situation. Rosa is best known for elaborating the clues Barks gave about Uncle Scrooge's childhood into a series of stories: The early years of Uncle Scrooge.

Maybe you could react to the video "Hiljaisen talven lapsi". Totally It´ll break your heart. It´s composed by Holopainen himself of course. And he´s at keyboards as well during the song. But the solist of this song is Timo Rautiainen, as far as i know. Just another metal metal head from finland.

It's folky, somewhat rock (would't say metal) and mystical, coz that's what Johanna sings. Her own career is in Finnish, but in Auri she sings in English. The Last Sled from the same album as this song, is absolutely gorgeous. It has lyrics from the graphic novel the album is based on. Tuomas has a side band called AURI with his wife (the singer on this track) and Troy from Nightwish. Night 13 is my personal favourite track from their album.

"The Last Sled" is my favourite from this album as it is about Dawson City and the Gold Rush of 1898... but watch the whole thing through when you have time, it's wonderful. Johanna, Tuomas and Troy formed a band called Auri. The songs "The Space Between" and "Night 13" are amazing. Apparently Floor has said she wants "Night 13" played at her funeral.

Don Rosa is the man you see drawing here. Tuomas (like me) is a fan of his. Every time Don Rosa comes to Finland there´s a long ass line to get his signature. It is such a shame no one seems to know Don Rosa in his own country. People really should pick up those comics of his. Humor, romance, epic adventures... Scrooge really came to alive thanks to Carl Barks and Don Rosa.

If Wolfgang Mozart was living today, he would asked Tuomas for pointers in music..... Back in his day, Mozart was Tuomas because he tried his music differently compared to those in that time.

And the illustrator is Don Rosa), an American comic book writer and illustrator known for his Disney comics stories about Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, and other characters which Carl Barks created for Disney-licensed comic books, first published in America by Dell Comics. Tuomas is a huge fan of him.

I have not listened to any other band for the last seven months. Pathetic I know but these guys fill a niche that was missing from life for so long.

Every time I watch this, and listen to nightwish songs. I try to think of words that would give it the true meaning to TUOMAS ability, that hasn't been said. That's hard to do, HE IS UNBELIEVABLY TALENTED, HE IS SO GOOD, HE MAKES SENSE.
