Turandot: "In questa reggia" -- Maria Guleghina (Met Opera)

hahaha! luego critican la version del 88' con Marton&Domingo.....aquello era puro espectaculo! La presnecia de Domingo era unica, a pesar de algun problema en los agudos, y la Marton ha sido una de las mejores Turandot.....echaremos de menos aquellas producciones, sin duda!

Wow, and people criticize Marton/Domingo's version of Turandot (which, in my opinion is one of the best Turandots ever produced). Sadly Guleghina, and Giordani are too little to sing this roles. the highs are bad, but Zeffirelli's designs, once more, saves the visual part of this production.

Recently Guleghina sang Turandot at Colón Theater Ópera House at Buenos Aires; all of you are able to watch the performance on RU-vid. July 2019 I felt so sorry, because I remembered Nilson and Dimitrova on this role and couldn’t believe if she was not able to listen herself, the damage that was producing to Puccini ‘s score. 👎👎👎👎

@TraveltoMexico I checked at the Met's website and saw their cover art, then checked at Target. The only Met DVD is their older recording with Martin and Domingo (also a great performance). None of the DVDs at Target's website are this broadcast.

This was a sad shaddow of a previous performance of this production with Domingo and Marton. Guleghina's top C was horrible.

What is this compared to Nilsson and Corelli? Not much..

I was in the audience when they taped this production. I like it as much as Pavarotti and Sutherland with Mehta conducting. Strong performances all around. And yes I own the DVD.

Is this available now? I can't seem to locate it in Target's website.

@LohengrinT I saw a much less extravegant production in Portland, Oregon last spring and the singer were much better. This is a joke...

Guleghina é terrível como Turandot. Sem sal.

Guleghina should have been made-up better; Princess Turandot's looks here is not fully being emphasized. Not to mention, her "high" C's should be actually HIGH.

Come on...Opera are well known to be CAMP....!

Quelle catastrophe!

I cannot believe they have released this ghastly performance on DVD for all to see and to be tortured by again if they so choose. Guleghina didn't sing a note in tune the whole time, and Giordani was in very poor form. I only hope this has Poplavskaya as Liu, because she was the only worthwhile singer in it. Utter pain in the HD broadcast from Guleghina.
