It’s an STS turbo kit. The turbo is rear mounted to it’s not by the engine. They’re near the back of the truck basically out in the open, that’s why it’s so loud
Hey, I'm planing on doin this to my truck and I have a question. Did you have to do anything to your motor internally to make it strong enough to handle the boost or did you just bolt on and go? Lmk thanks
@petark1000 Or you can pick the correct gear. If you're in the right gear, there is no lag. And if you really want to spool fast off the line, you can get a 2-step.
It's my truck!!! only in better shape and the paint is better and it makes more horsepower and it sounds nicer and a bull has not dinted the fender on my ranch but it's my truck!!!
i have read about those, i didnt think you needed an intercooler b/c of them being mounted in the rear. did you just put that on for good measure or did you have to put the intercooler? do you have to put a turbo timer on it too?
@1SexyTaco hey man i just bought an 09 taco today i'm stoked. it's primarily for work but i'm curious if yours is an automatic or standard trans because that is a legit setup you got there.
Do you have the installation manual? I brought this kit on craigslist and it didn't come with the manual. I called STS and they won't release it without the original invoice.
@@coreylocket4546 it probably is. i looked into it and turns out 3rz 4cyls are built to make super fast cars all the time mostly in Australia and the middle east
@@scrub_lord I bought my 2000 Taco 4x4 with 3RZ engine 23 years ago. The 3RZ is an absolute gem. The factory block, crank, and genuine head with big rods, forged pistons, 1mm over-sized Super Tech valves and upgraded springs & keepers with the right turbo set-up is capable of 1,600 hp, can take 70 LBS OF BOOST spinning 11,800 rpm's.......and live. 1,600 hp for a 4 cyl is like 3,200 hp for a V8. Racing technology has finally caught up for the 3RZ, and many are now calling it "the next 2JZ".
Sick Tacoma bro. Ay, where did you get your painted flares from? The flares on my truck are the only thing making the truck look bad, I have to use speccial crap to keep them shining and look healthy because they are sunstained.Looked online and YOURS are the only style I want. Help a fellow Yoda brother out? What else you got on that baby? She looks real nice man.
I’m assuming you’d improve your mpg right. Taking exhaust and using it to force more air into the engine increases power output at the cost of no fuel. Lwk no figures to back it up on the tacomas tho which is annoying.
@@MightAsWellBeMe your probably right, I just think it's funny seeing people making comments about how slow it is, as if it was ever meant to be a speed demon
Tracy Whitehurst its a 4 cylinder you dumb fuck. That gets 20mpg as it is. And has locking diffs it is way way better of a off road machine than anything you have. Your pos will sinknin the mud. Then wont be able to turn and fit on a trail and then at the end of the day it will break. Im done with gm and ford and dodge. All pos. My turbo tacoma gets 20mpg with 35s and 6 inch lift and has lasted me 200k miles in that configuration. Has a total of 300k miles on it. Lets see your gm truck last that long
THAT'S ONE NOISY ASS TRUCK... AND THAT'S ALL IT IS "NOISY".. BORING! MY EVO'S TURBO SOUNDS MORE MANLY AND PERFORMS MANLIER THAT THAT BUWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! TACO.. :D
