The eastern part of the country is mostly unindustrialized and illiterate due to the traditionalists majority but the government capitalizes on this and use them as a manpower source. Losing the land would only cause a turmoil in political shape in my opinion. But the significant amount of turkish refugees can weaken the already ailing economy, other than that I don't think losing this gigantic mountainous state would have drastic consequences. It's like Rocky Mountains declaring it's independence from USA..
You guys sadly dont know enough about turkey. Eastern turkey is so so so so so rich in underground resources. Its literally like minecraft but with hacks. And east also has agricultural importance. And there is also a vast majority of turkish population there despite kurds. Eastern turkey is as important as Western turkey, if not more. You guys should really study the turkish geography and turkish economics before making a judgement. Increase in income per capita would not be possible for western turks. Cuz Turkey is not complete without the east. Yes eastern Turkey is underdeveloped and uncivilized (both infrastructurely and majority of people in east are uncivilized people) they still have key importance in Turkey's fate. No. Eastern part is a burden on Turkey's back. It is an industrially backward region covered with mountainous lands. Mostly Kurds live in that region and they have a negative impact on the income balance in the country because they have many children. Moreover, they create a waste of resources for the state due to their constant revolt. If Turkey's borders started from the west of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, the country would be in a much better position.

But just as those seas are very turbulent, Greece and Southern Europe are very prone to earthquakes. It would happen at some point, but if Greece/Byzantium had reorganized before the earthquake, then Turkey would never have crossed into the Balkans.
