When you create a website shortcut for your desktop it will use the icon of your default browser. In this video we show you how to create custom website shortcut icons for your Windows desktop. These instructions will work on ALL versions of Microsoft Windows.

This was so helpful!! I deleted the pictures from downloaded after and my icons disappeared so I restored them from the recycling bin back into my downloads and they still haven’t turned up again on to my desktop? Any ideas on what to do?

You may need to recreate the icons. I would move them into another folder first.

Great video. - My system seams to do this automatically. In firefox I click on bookmark then Add Bookmark and click OK. I then click Bookmark menu and click Show All Bookmarks. I then minimize firefox leaving the Bookmark window open. By dragging any of the bookmarks from the list ontop my Desktop or any other folder a shortcut is created with the logo of the site as its icon. This doesnt always work so i will use your method. Thank you.

This is great but Google Chrome should really just have a feature where I can display the favicon rather than having Chrome icons all over my desktop. This process is very time-consuming if you have alot of shortcuts.

I tried this for different Firefox profiles, but on the taskbar I don't see the same icons. Do you have any idea how to do this? To have different icons in the taskbar for different Firefox profiles, as Chrome does?

Just to clarify, are you talking about the bookmarks within Firefox?

@@HelpCloud No. I created a Firefox profile. I created a desktop shortcut for that profile. I changed the icon for that shortcut. Added the icon to the taskbar. The icon from the taskbar has no changed. Chrome does this well. For a profile you have a different icon in the taskbar (if you pin it, of course).

Try deleting the shortcut and recreating, then change the icon.

So, I'm just jumping on here because I'm desperate - I've had some massive issues with my mouse, primarily in some games. I think it might be the Unreal engine that messes with it, because CastleStorm 2 seems to be based on it. Anyway: When I'm in games I can use the mouse to move around in menus just fine. BUT, when it comes to aiming the camera in the game, my mouse just glitches out and doesn't respond. I've tried everything I could think of but nothing helped.

@@HelpCloud Steelseries Rival 600. I think it's a Windows issue, because the one that doesn't not run through a client works if you open it with administrative privileges. The ones that run through things like Steam or Epic won't work though. So to clarify: in menus the mouse works fine, but when it's dedicated as a camera during gameplayit doesn't

You need to find the image and download first, then when you choose the icon, you will need to search where you saved it to choose it.

What the f. Seriously can I not just go to the play store and download it to my desktop? Aaahhh computers suck after phone life. Yes I know they are both computers. If all my shortcuts have the same chrome logo. Then I have to read title, not like a logo easy to find. There is no way I'm searching images to........
