Turn Your Windows 7 Laptop into a WiFi Hotspot 2 

I did all this processes but my phone can not find the ad hoc!!

Wifi 3.0 Is what I used. I really have to thank the person who commented this suggestion somewhere in the comments. He was on the money. I had to play with it a little before it finally worked but it works now. I think I had to disconnect from my wifi signal>reconnect to wifi> Then activate aka turn on WIFI 3.0. And bam it was working.. Thumbs up to the guy who suggested this.

i press the proporties button but then i dont see the sharing button so what to do now

perfect. I've been worried sick about this issue until i got this video. It worked like magic. now I can connect my Nokia phone and my other devices wirelessly thru my hp envy 14 laptop. thank u.

but i can't find out the sharing option in my laptop for this do i need to install wifi adopter software or not?? will be happy if u give the answer plz

Well I had the same problem. The solution is - Don't set up the adhoc network with WPA-2 authentication(which was the default setting in my case) . Use WEP security as Iphone can detect only that. And further if you are using a proxy server for yout internet on your laptop give those details on your mobile or tablet. Also remember to share the internet connection over "Wireless Connection"

when i connect my phone by the wifi of my laptop the internet is unvailable he is connected but without internet

Pretty well done the way i look at it in your video here but i have not done it yet so far the presentation is very simple and clear i hope it works on me i will try it myself later but you do have a good way of presentation i like it keep it up!

thankyuou for the ideas guys if it doesnt work (on your other laptop) open network and sharing center, then set the adhoc network as a home network then set your wlan connection to allow network sharing :)

Works perfectly on Windows 7 & 8... Note: You can use a WiFi USB Modem on the laptop/PC to access the Internet it doesn't have to be a hard wired connection to share & make the HOTSPOT.

Great tutorial, thanks. I tested this on my Google Nexus One and it works (so android devices work I guess) but only without password. I guess there must be a problem with the encryption on the phone or something... Anyhow, as password-protection is not working - is there a way to limit the number of devices connected to the network to just one (my phone)? Thanks.

A great educational vid Avoiderrors :) As for mr. Geh Tsung Chow, are you talking of eduroam with 802.1x protocal? Say you want to connet many computers, ie video game consoles PS3, Xbox and what have you's, all you need is cat 5e ethernet cable in your socket on the wall--> Switch-->master PC (connected to Eduroam). Then you can plug your console, or other pc to the switch :) Thanks.

Can we share files on the two laptops through this ad-hoc network. I mean if the internet is available through an external wifi, the other laptop too can be connected by the same wifi. Or is it useful if an internet dongle is used in the first laptop and that the internet is made available to other computers.

Hello, I followed every step carefully, I was able to create the network connection as you explained, however when my Samsung galaxy searches for new wireless networks it doesn't find/recognize the connection I made so as a result not able to connect to my laptop, but when I click to see the status of the new network it says "waiting for users".,help please? I can do everything, except my Samsung Galaxy S2 and Samsung Note 10.1 Tablet cannot detect the adhoc connection at all. I refreshed many times, but it just doesn't show up. I'm in a student dormitory on campus, do you think it's some security measure they've set up to prevent this? Thanks

What is the purpose or benefit of setting this Wifi Hotspot? Because if I am at home I would just connect to the internet, if I have guess then my guess would just connect to my internet as well. I do not see why I would need this set up. Would you advise or give an example when this set up would be needed. Thank you.
