Wonderful. Thank you for sharing your creative process with us. I loved the short little pieces of music ideas from the past but these latest videos are even more valuable.

Gonna need a lighting/video recording setup video from you, always looking so clean. And the content is always amazing.

Awesome segment of your process!👍 I am still experiencing difficulty with turning a chord progression into a song. My DAW is FL Studio 21, and watching your creative art❤ is very refreshing in helping me navigate step by step. Thanks!

Great video. Its always interesting to see the creative process of other artists. Creativity comes from so many places. Sometimes ill wake up with an idea or be driving and randomly get an idea and then struggle to remember it until i can write it down or get it into a rough recorded format.

This is too good man thanks for the effort to put all of these together! Huge fan for your music as well as the lights, frame, etc in your video. Definitely would love to see more like this one.

Thanks! I was thinking this could be some kind of series if there’s an audience for it

@@JoshuaDeLaVictoria I definitely second to this being a series! One of the most difficult thing as a composer is precisely composing lol Often I find that there are too many options for everything and option paralysis becomes a huge hurdle.
@jonswain4539
@jonswain4539 Год назад
I agree with the idea of a series here mate. It’s something that’s lacking with a lot of guitar based videos on RU-vid atm. The results are all instantly polished, without a window into how they end up that way. Not that I’m slating everyone’s talent- it would be great to see the process, warts n’all. ❤

My process is super similar of just throwing everything at the wall and seeing if something sticks. I find when something sticks, it sticks for a reason so it's worth sticking at. I've been finding more recently song ideas are generated in the box over using an instrument, but after watching this I might have to keep my guitar in front of me.

This is amazing. The idea, the video, the playing. Just wow, dude. Congrats! By the way, that synth bass sound is sick! What plugin are you using?
@omynel
@omynel Год назад
Really sick. That bass really tied it together incredibly well. I have a similar process, I will usually come up with a single part that I like and try to build out from there with drums / bass. My take away from this is to try writing from more humble beginnings, eg. a basic guitar melody which provides the foundation. Thanks for sharing 🙏

Watching this I realized I'm afraid of the way synth bass patches sound but it actually sounds sick in full view. Especially alongside the drums like he said. I think I'm kinda working like Josh is (which is kinda reassuring 😂) so thanks for inspiring me further!
@wagyube

I also like the idea of keeping your guitar on you like Josh did when programming some of the synth ideas to pinpoint the notes you were playing. I've seen Tim Henson demonstrate how some DAWs can even transform an audio recording into MIDI to streamline it even further!

Awesomeness. Thanks for sharing this, Josh. QUICK QUESTION: How high is the action on your guitars (on the 12th and 17th frets)? It seems impossibly low! (Looks absolutely flawless.)

I try to come up with a riff and then figure out the drum groove that would go well with it and program bass too. for the more chordy lead soft sections like yours in this its quite similar layering but nowhere close to your level of sophestication if that is even a thing lol ps: also crying and self doubt help a ton!

Thanks Joshua, big fan. This makes me feel more confident about my creative process of starting with the spark and piling on top until satisfied. I feel like I might be limited by my DAW though as much as I like it. Do you have any thoughts about Bandlab? Would I gain a lot switching to Logic? Instrument > 2i2 > MBPro > Bandlab (and ndsp output to bandlab input sometimes)
