Let me know if you want a compilation of Ming :D loved her character too I really recommend watching the whole movie “Turning Red” 😁😁 Music: Cafe KK from Animal Crossing New Horizons
At the beginning she’s yelling in Korean “WHY WOULD YOU THROW TRASH ON THE FLOOR?!” I love how Korean sounds when it’s being spoken with an angry aggressive tone 😂
@@ryuuu2734 I _believe_ it's roughly "What the heck is Toledo?!?!" though I need someone to fact-check Correction: other translations are saying "What? Toledo?!? This is crazy!". Turns out she says "what the heck is Toledo" in english immediately after
brings up memories when I used to invite my american friends over and they used to always ask, "why do your parents sound mad all the time?" and I would tell them thats just how they normally speak 😂.. but credit to them as we do come from a region where our accents much thicker than the more common tone
I was not expecting Abby to be my favorite character, but once she shrieked that she wanted to burn that place to the ground, I was like...yep. Girl has her priorities straight.
This is the difference in quality creations. The characters while in the background blink and emote to what is happening. I love noticing little details like Abby being disappointed that the panda is gone. It's such a nice attention to detail that you just usually wouldn't notice.
All of thins was made in auto mode. The first studio to do this was Dreamworks, but I don't know what happened that they got stuck. Dreamworks was waaaaay ahead of pixar until 2010. While pixar only used short hair characters (first toy story) because they didn't know how to animate hair, dreamworks was making background characters actually more human.
The thing that gets me every time is when that little blonde girl sees Meilin’s panda for the first time and she just, fukcing- *muffles her “OMG” without a word* 😂😂😂
I adore how not only is this her greatest hits but also effectively showing the filmmakers and animators attention to details to flesh out ppl like Abby. Really helps em all seem so real and relatable. Love to see it
Both Abby and the dad are my legitimate favorite characters in the entire movie. I love how extreme Abby is with everything in a positive way, and I related to that a lot lol
It was a bunch of people being prudish about them showing what teenage girls were actually like. Like yes we have to deal with periods, and we have our crazy little crushes, and plotting to see a concert is not that weird. They didn’t feel comfortable about the “period talk” and Mei disobeying her parents. Which is sad cause this movie could be used as a conversation starter with your kid. Like “I never want you to feel like I’ll go all Godzilla red panda on you cause we don’t agree about something” or explain to your kids how her being a panda is a metaphor for her period and getting them prepared for that. Some parents still don’t explain to their daughters what a period is and so they’re caught off guard and terrified when it happens, like Mei was. And when you shut down your kids’ interests like that just cause it doesn’t fit what you think they should do, they are gonna be resentful and rebel. Idk my main point is that the people who had a problem with the movie were the kind of parents who needed to watch it.
I still adore that Mei's mom asking "Why is it called 4-Town when there's 5 of them" is sort of (at least my interpretation of it is) foreshadowing for Tyler being a 4-Townie, it's so clever lmao
I thought it's about pop groups naming themselves with a number but not related to the number of members like in kpop. I read it is inspired by big bang and 2pm.
@@eden6523 9muses and 5dolls come to mind too... if you are a music group of any kind and name yourself after how many people you are you’re plain CURSED.
I just love she has the girliest look of them all and act almost like you expect from a boy: the agressive energy, always up for a fight, screaming for literally no reason and she kinda have a lower tone voice too. Meanwhile Mirian dresses like a tomboy, like the kinda of girl who would be labeled as a lesbian in highschool and she's definitely the girliest of them all.
My sister (born at the beginning of the 1990s) said that the way Miriam and Prita dress are actually how closeted lesbians, including herself, usually dressed in the early 2000s 😂 (including her sister-in-law)
Honestly what I like about what Pixar did was the amount of body diversity. I also really liked how her backstory wasn’t about being overweight and she just is unapologetically herself, I feel like most people just have a tendency to make it about them being fat shamed just because. I dunno I just think it’s neat how her personality isn’t surrounded by her being bigger
Honestly, you should be thankin' the director herself- she FOUGHT like WHACK just to get the representation right like Encanto with Luisa's physique ✊ also I may be wrong In some parts :3
You know whats crazy. She and Mei are the most expressive characters and often people would say that asian people are inexpressive, so the animation kinda refuted that
Its fake not real~~~animation...that doesn't mean she is actually~~~asian, also who would even be allowed to say anything against a non white group, they'd be scalped for even breathing the wrong way in your radical liberal world full of mentally ill children that now lead trends and think that saying vibe and being cultish about your obsessions is unique and cute. By far the most toxic disturbing generation by far, and white text is not funny..just let the funny animation speak for itself without the clearly unfunny jokes made by ms milan who couldn't make a clown laugh...nor..would a clown laugh, they never stop smiling to begin with.
@@rpworldtuts653 I know. Its also said that west asian acting its "over expressive" like, super drmatic and stuff. But Priya is laid back and more chill than the others
Did anyone else notice that at like 4:35 Abby’s bottom lip trembled, she was so upset that Mei wasn’t there with them, and that the panda might also be gone forever too
Oh yah, anything asian is immediately "✨iconic✨" to you. God almighty, where's the red nail emoji at..then you'd be iconic too, as in verbatim to everyone around you who all think they are special yet act exactly the same.
For a storyboard artist, Heyin Park really steals the show as a voice actress. Hyein Park's Abby is the best part of the movie Turning Red! I think she should voice act a little more often. March 24, 2022, 12:08am
I love how Miriam and Priya’s intros just show them casually going about their days and then Abby goes full magical girl after screaming at a bunch of kids over some trash
Not gonna lie, it is EERIE how much Abby reminds me of my little sister (also named Abby) when we were younger; the long hair, the headband, the short height, the feral and endless energy...seeing her just makes me laugh every time. I love her.
In the scene where Tyler is bullying Mei, I am so impressed with the loyalty her friends have for her. But Abby takes the cake. After yelling "You want a piece of me?!" I would expect Abby to bounce on the soles of her feet and stick out her stomach at Tyler while hollering, "Go ahead! Take your best shot!"
Me too, I have chubby face cheeks and Ive never really liked them, seeing abby having chubby makes me feel better about them, it makes me happy! Shes my favorite character
I've only just realised, Mei is only one of her friends that doesn't have her ears pierced. Does anyone else remember begging your mum to get your ears pierced because all your friends had them 😂😂
I didn't ask for it until I was 17, when I found cute parrot earrings and I was like "I will literally pierce my ears to wear these". Mum said no, but I was almost 18 so she was like "I won't stop you once you're 18". Then after I got them pierced and had an allergic reaction she was like "I'm happy I made you wait until you're a legal adult so I don't have to feel guilty about letting you do this" 😂
@@materialgworl4061 No, those are non-pierced earrings, kinda look like stickers, there's a scene where Mei takes them off right when she comes home so her mother doesn't see them.
I love how she speaks Korean so fluently when she gets overwhelmed 😂😂😂 The pronunciation is so good and I'm glad I understand everything she says 😁 3:04 Think she's doing taekwondo
Abby could tear down a tyrannical government in a matter of days, a week tops, singlehandedly for something simple like she didn't like the color of their new national bird or something.
Imagine if her niece/nephew gets bullied. The parents go to the principal while Abby promptly throws the bully into a wall. No hesitation, no warning, just good ol' fashioned violence
Omg Abby and Agnes would make a crazy duo, since they love fluffy stuff, imagine them both seeing something fluffy both of them would be racing at it lol, love them both btw
Just take away the "Gamer Girl" personality form Miko and replace It with "Full Energetic Tomboy" mode. I know It still not the exact same actress, but this one truly won me over! >X3
Credits to the artist and creators normally when we watch animations we just really focus on the main character on screen ( either someone who needs to speak or act) but these details are lit! Abby showing her asian side! I really love her bubbly personality. I want a friend like that fuffffff
I literally and absolutely love the part where she says “Forget it, I need lunch IM STARTING TO BLACK OUTT!” And just pretends to faint. Like- it’s literally me when someone takes too long to do something or arguing with your teacher lol 💀
I just loved that the characters are written so well and that they actually acted their age, like they felt like the middle school kids I knew because it’s actually my generation being portrayed 😭 made me nostalgic for a good school experience that I never had lol
1:02 I love how abby’s saying in Korean 죽는다!! It means “do you want to die?!” or “you’re going to dead” Korean girls use 죽는다 a lot to boys of the same age, so it's even funnier and cuter
People said: “oh the friends just forgave Tyler after being a jerk” No, they did not, they just care more about their favorite band and won’t let people ruin their moment. Also kids are so flippant, one moment they hate for all eternity, the next love, and this ain’t some “kids feelings are fake and don’t matter”, no in reality all of those flippant feelings are real and valid. They never said they forgave Tyler for his BS behavior, they just had greater priorities. Though, maybe that’s why Tyler was willing to dish out a ton of cash, 1) He wanted to support his favorite group. 2) He wanted to enjoy it with other people. 3) it wouldn’t directly implicate his social life
i mean at the end of the movie he's in their friend group and everything so it's safe to say that they get over it pretty quickly like you said. So in a way it technically did implicate his social life to some degree as he's now considered apart of their group.
@@Callimo I see, kids are still fickle. It still makes sense to me especially when my little sister does the same thing with her clique, going from friend to enemy to friend again.
I have a friend like Abby, she is the shortest chaos goblin in our group, has frequent laugh attacks and I once asked her as a joke "Hey what can we buy at ikea?" and she replied "Dead corpses"...Also she drinks way too much coffee lol
Tae Young also may be Korean, and you know how it is with K-pop idols lmao :') Either way I also love Abby, she's the friend I never had but I would like
@@livingtorment7638 I think so likes him because he's korean. Because she's korean. She might love to see someone like her as her favorite band. I had no Asian rep as a kid- so when I saw someone- I know, like her, I would be so happy
This is literally my new favorite thing in the universe. The 6 year old has been watching this movie at least once a week and Abby is my fave. I knew *someone* had to make a video of nothing but Abby but the commentary makes it so much more.
I really want a friend like her . Even tho she had anger issue but she's such a caring , protective friend who would do anything if she want to , and I love her design , the chubby place , the cute outfit , the headband *Chef kiss*
This is by far the best like focusing on character video ever. Usually videos like these are just zoomed in and sometimes when character move the video has like no one in it. This person actually took time to track the character even if they are at the edge of the screen lol nice!! I love ittt!!
