TUTORIAL - How to Block Your Face from Security Cameras 

You need a reflective surface under the hat front to reflect the light down onto your face, as well as maybe point some LEDs downwards too, because on the side you can still see most of your face, enough to maybe get recognised.

you should have 4 more LEDs pointing down so they cannot see your face at all on the side and front

Less noticable is to use SMD IR LED's and replace the white LEDs on a LED strip and use it as a hatband. Added bonus is the IR will pass through black synthetic fabric, so it can be hidden under the hatband. Buy a white LED light tape and replace the LED's with high power IR LED chips. Make a hatband and power with a battery.

It might be interesting to see how well this works if you selectively illuminate a couple of points on the face, which, if I'm right, will totally throw off the recognitions system, by distorting your facial 'profile', without showing off some big globe of light... maybe a bit more subtle? Maybe a lot fewer LEDs? Maybe a lot less power? "Well, it's just a thought..."

So I don't know if you read all the comments but here's my take on this to really Express how well this works you should have another little clip in the corner of non infrared sensitive are just regular footage from regular camera in not even night vision mode to show what is happening at night and what you could see tonight in the dark with out any of that just so people get a live view of a baseline of what they would see in person oh and that footage of you looking around with the infrared headlight would be kind of sweet and this all of this is so cool because I had thought of this years ago to put on my license plate I had found one on eBay that they had used regular LEDs to Blind the toll booth cameras and I thought why not replace those regular LEDs with infrared LEDs keep up the good work your videos are very informative and highly detailed compared to others thanks

I would totally buy something like this, I considered buying a kit but I ain’t got all them tools lol. Can you put sharpie over the leds so they blend in more? If so I would try to recess them in the hat a bit. Or I would get one of those spikey hats and remove a spike and put a light in place of it to blend in more easily. Why do you need to use resistors when doing the wiring? What type of solder are you using? Does it have flux in it? I think everyone who uses the soldering helping hands all have shrink tubing on the clips. For a couple projects after I bought mine I realized it was damaging my wire. Since I had a box of different size of shrink tube I put some on and it had taken care of the problem. Ever since then I have noticed everyone else has done the same thing I just never noticed before. I enjoyed watching your video I'm looking forward to watching more.

Why are you using resistors? and why do you put the resistor on the positive side of the led?

In Australia a mobile phone ilegal use can era system was developed, they use 2 infra-red cameras, 1 read the number plate the other one take a picture from above through the windshield. I am going to use this idea to overexpose the number plate I hope that works I will use a IR led stripe with at least 12 LEDs on top and on bottom of number plate, enough to blur and overexpose the plate on the infrared camera. This will also work with the Vitronic Poliscan speed cameras that use infrared cameras

Halfway through your video I had an idea maybe you could spray the hat with some infrared spray to reflect infrared light more

The car photos are very impressive . Only one question , all the car photos where at night . Does this mean that this invention would not work during the daylight hours ? I have on occasion seen colour tinted lic plate cover/holders in green/blue/red/pink or purple that go along with the colour of the car body . Those nice coloured lic plate cover/holders are such that highway radar cameras can't see thru . Have you ever seen any ?

Reflectables glasses black out your eyes to the IR camera during the day. The night glasses reflect the IR light back to the camera, producing the same effect as this hat trick.

for what im doing im going to 3D print a clip with some small holes in it for the LED's then routw the battery and wires through the small flap on the inside of the hat if all goes well it will sit flush with my hat and look super clean if this idea works ill like a video to it in the comments thanks for showing me how to wire the LED's.

I'd mount the LEDs so the front of the led is flush with the front of the cap, then cover the edge with something like what's on the front of TV remotes to further hide the LEDs.

Some one did this before but actually put them thru the top and made the theme Christmas 🎄..lol and it work lol

This does not work with latest "starlight" full color night ip cameras, it just shows as a dull pinkish led and same with your plate blocker. The face recognition cameras I use are also not affected by this.

What about day time invisibility

to strip wire easily and without any possibility of cutting the strands of copper wire, just use a lighter to heat the wire sheath and than pinch the heated portion with your fingernails and pull the plastic sheath off. you'll never cut or break another wire strand ever! It works with any wire up to 10 AWG. Than if there is too much exposed wire, just trim it up with your wire cutters. I was never good at using a knife or wire cutters to strip wire so I use this trick almost always due to the easy and fast universality of the method!!!!!

For people want to make this you can't wear this everywhere like in the bank and stuff. The moment the security guards saw something wrong on the security screen they will investigate immediately. And this this not new, almost all the big business has security professional and they know all the tricks people use to block their face.

Your soldering technique is wrong. You must first heat the place / part you want to solder and then add tin with a resin core so that the solder resin (a flux) contained in the tin can improve the flow. Never put tin on the soldering iron and then try to bake the wires together. The solder resin has already evaporated before you arrive at the solder spot. And the parts then become unnecessarily hot and can break as a result. Also, the connections will not become very strong, which will cause malfunctions. When making a tutorial try to do it the best you can. Also the way you do it.

I have quite a big headtorch collection and some do exactly same and much easier and not making anything.

I think this would only draw attention too you in a negative light. sure... camera cant see you but all the people who see the camera whos attention you now have for sure will come look or send someone. this solves nothing with the source of why led hats is a thing in the first place. is it not possible to tell one group of people that they are free now when really its just that a new better way has been developed for all?
