Tutorial: How to Install and Apply AllGUD's xEdit Scripts

This tutorial shows how to install and apply the AllGUD xEdit Scripts. The entire process only takes a few minutes.
Using Mod Organizer 2 and SSEEdit.
If you are installing for Skyrim LE, you would use TES5Edit.
The files can be extracted using 7zip
I should've entered 'AA' as the suffix in EditorID's, but left it blank as an example that blanks are okay.
Don't forget to enable the 'AllGUD Meshes' Mod!

I've had to regenerate the meshes a few times when making new profiles, and every time I think I know how to- and remember how to install Allgud, I find myself back here, graced by the single best Tutorial on youtube imo.

I just successfully went through installation process with Vortex. Now that I look back on it, it wasn't a rocket science, but man was it a deep dive into a rabbit whole with this one. Your video (and the other one with Vortex zip file installation) helped a lot, but I wish some things were better explained as it would save a lot of headache, frustration and frantic googling to check what some options mean or if they have any significance at all. And all I wanted to do was to display a staff on my back and nothing else. Anyway, thank you for your work on this mod and tool, much appreciated.

Damn i just watched the tutorial on how to escape the alternate timeline on your channel, very detailed. Easy to understand. But after i escape, the tutorial is gone... Where i could find that again ? I just trapped myself in another timeline where Todd Howard is the king of the world, thanks.

sooo i did what you did but when my weapons were under my character i went back to look at the skeleton patch - which wasn't there, so i went back, manually selected the meshes from my xmpse MO modfile as input and the AllGUD meshes as output, and voila, it works! but why you skipped this part in the video beats me.. other than that this is a fantastic mod, good job! even back in the day i always liked equipping overhaul better than DSR, but it was insanely buggy and didn't feature the dual sheath - and now you made it all possible without even the need to look for patches! mind = blown

THANK YOU ! I was getting desperate to find a way to fix that problem but doing what you did and putting the AllGUD Meshes mod below XPMSE in MO2 solved it, no more sword under my character's feet ! I wish this fix was included in the video guide, I know for a fact that many other players appear to struggle with this problem.

Hello Kriffen. I watched your video and followed it with xEdit and executing your included scripts. Everything went relatively smoothly until I realized I don't know how to create the new mod. I'm working with the Nexus Mod Manager. Not Mod Organizer 2. I noticed that when you created the new mod from Mod Organizer 2 it auto created a meta.ini file. Do you have any suggestions for how to add the new mod? I currently have all of the appropriate meshes and skeleton edits in "......\Skyrim Special Edition\Mods\ALLGUD_Meshes\meshes\actors\character" I just don't know how to get NMM to add it as a mod.

can you also show us the load order of where to put the AllGUD meshes and extra meshes (generated from Alternate Textures)? Also do you have to manually patch each mod that has alternate textures of can you just select all the mods that need it?

I've followed this and still can't figure out exactly why my weapons for left hand appear under my character. I double checked the folder paths and they all look correct. Still puzzled on how to get the dual sheath working.

Hey Brian been using this mod for years had to regen some meshes due to wanting to all my newer weapon mods to AllGUD, follow the step as normal ... however left handed weapons are always below the character. I can't seem to figure out what is causing this. Any advice on routing out my problem?

Maybe some things have changed since a year ago, but I cannot get the allgud mesh generator and skeleton generator to show up. I feel this video though prob easy for many, is outdated for dummies like myself. If all fails I'm just gonna go back to the old gems of Dual Sheath Redux, EQO etc. Anyway here's what I've done: 1) Downloaded and installed sseedit 2) Downloaded Allgud mod (note there are more files in the folder this time, scripts, interface, the esp file and meshes with no telling what to do with each of them) 3) I copy the "scripts" folder from allgud and paste it into the ssedit "edited scripts" folder. As far as I concern both allgud and sseedit main folder can be placed at any desired location (for me along with my other mods) 4) I installed allgud mod in mod organizer 2 4) Created the "Allgud meshes" empty mod, but not activating it. 5) I launch sseedit and let it do its thing. 6) I copy all the files on the left and click "apply scripts" 7) no allgud mesh generator and skeleton generator to show up :/

I want to start off by saying I really appreciate the amazing work you've done in making this available for the public, making such an incredible tutorial, and making me laugh my ass off with the troll impressions lol. but I am curious about what you said at the end of the video, "but of course, because they are using original meshes, we are going to have to go back to the original mod and regen meshes again" kinda lost me I have like 30-40 different mods with custom textures and meshes for weapons and armor. do I have to run them individually, or can I just highlight all plugins and run it again (to make it easier on myself)? and why do we have to do it a second time? did the textures script change something?

i ran it with everything highlighted because im lazy as fuck first thing I noticed was 2600 wep and 2800 armor files were recognized right off the bat... with 1040 original models lol i hope i can just highlight everything, otherwise it would take forever.

well im finalizing everything in NMM, and its asking if XPMSE should overwrite ALLGUD. I always let XPMSE win these battles, but im not sure in this case, since its a patch?

Yeah, let AllGUD win. The alternate texture script changes the model path of the record. New model path means AllGUD's script will use that in-game. Scripts use the conflict-winner, so first time you use it, run it on everyting. It'll warn you if you need to use the Alternate Texture script. (isn't that common) Only need to rerun Mesh Generator on a plugin if it was patched by the Alternate Texture script, not rerun for everything.

Am I correct in thinking that when you talk about "Alternate textures", that you're referring to any mod which adds "non-Vanilla" textures? So you used Immersive Weapons because they have new textures, but something that uses vanilla textures (I can't think of an example) would not need this?

Thank you, it works good! But I'd have a question about that "AlternateTextureModelsplosion": does it refer to those Weapons with multiple textures but that share the same model? I shouldn't worry about armors, shouldn't I?

Hi, I followed your tutorial and for some reason when I selected the output path for the skeleton patcher sse edit would point out that your items would appear on your charachters feet. I tried the installation 5 times and I managed to get the mod working properly after I set the path to the AllGuD meshes folder, without adding \actor\charachter\.

I have a LOT of mods, took me forever, so I just kept replaying this while I waited for various scripts to finish and such. Very relaxing. How do I add a custom race to the esp? The only instructions I've been able to find are, "add your races to the ARMOR records in 'All Geared Up Derivative.esp'", which tells me nothing of how to do that -- no word on what files it needs or how to even perform the action at all -- and I've since been muddling about through folders and xEdit for hours fruitlessly.

For the flickering weapons and resizing shields part, what do you mean by "fix and recompile their scripts"? I think I did this wrong in the first place, which I did it basically on my own. Now I'm redoing it according to your video, which could take me awhile, but on the chance that I'm going to have the same flickering weapons issue, I'm asking this regardless. Will edit when I've finished following each step. Edit: Okay, I redid things the way you described and it works! I forgot to explain that I was having the weapon on floor issue, but that's gone now it seems, at least for some of the modded weapons I have tried. However, the off-hands are still flickering. I can live with this, because at least I was able to follow enough instructions to get it working 90%, but any explanation on how to fix the flickering (if there is one) would be extremely appreciated. Also, if someone wouldn't mind describing, how can you tell if a mod uses alternate texture? It would make sense if the mod wasn't working, but I don't actually know what 'alternate texture' entails. Final question; my data folder has all the meshes and actor folders in it. The way I did this before was to generate everything to an unrelated folder, drop it in there, and call it a day. It's all still there, but I can't tell if it's generated from this second try (that has actually made it work), or if I just forgot to delete it all before I restarted the whole process. Do all those files need to stay there while I have the MO2 mod folder, or are they just duplicates?

Script fixes are copy-pasted from the Article for AllGUD or AllGUD SE (they're both the same) Basic instructions for how to recompile are in there, but I'd recommend you to a general papyrus tutorial if you run into problems compiling. Alternate textures are found under the model filename of a Record. For AllGUD, the relevant records are Armor Addons (for shields) and Weapons. Most of the time these are blank. Vanilla only uses them for Nettlebane and the Town Guard Shields. In early versions before I realized I didn't account for them yet, all the Town Guard shields would show up as Riften shields, the one that used the base mesh without an alternate texture. They are texture sets that override the values for the BSShaderTextureSet found in the mesh. The 3d Index determines which BSShaderTextureSet is overridden. Edit: v1.7.1 will now warn you, when generating meshes, if a record is using Alternate Textures. Uhhh, I wouldn't know if all the meshes in your data folder are only from AllGUD. If it looks like they are and you're relatively certain you haven't used it for anything else then you probably don't need them. If they're from the second try they should have a more recent date modified than the ones in your MO2 folder. MO2 also has a 'Data' tab that lets you confirm the source that a loose file will be loaded from, so you can see if the ones in your data folder are necessary.

There are still a few things I cant find antthing about on the web. 1. What do you do with the files that are created in the overgrote folder, do you just make a mod from it, or do you move the meshes it created to you ALLGUD Meshes\meshes folder ? 2.How this this go with a bashed patch, first bashed patch then run your AllGUD credit scripts or the other way around ? this is such a comprehensive tutorial and could be followed with some understanding of PC terms, but i wish bethesda just pick up the slack and make actual weapons appear on the character when it's favorited instead of equipped for the next TES6. Yes, it probably will make us look like crazed madman with 2 swords, 2 daggers, a bow, and a shield, but isn't that what we are in the game?

If you have to make multiple Alternate mesh ESPs, I'm assuming you can merge those ESPs together with zMerge?

hello brian .. is the created alternate texture .esp should be used in game load .. or just for the mesh generator afterwards, then discard? (the alt tex node is not used)

the patched records in the .esp need to be loaded into the game to redirect the model path. You can flag it as a esl or move the records into your own custom patch in xEdit, long as they make it in.

Hello may I ask anything about the Alternate Texture? Should I done it or not? How do I know if the mod have alternate texture? Currently I have 120 mods installed but only 15-20 weapon and/or armor mods. I'm sorry I'm not familiar with scripting.

So for the alternate texture part, what mods do I need to do this for? Just texture replacers or every mod? And is it just armor or weapon, or both?

Mesh generator script will Log and warn you when it encounters one during plugin scanning.

Great tutorial, helped a lot! but how about what to do when it gives an error prompt regarding not being able to process meshes for Isilmeriel LOTR Weapon Collection? Anyone has any ideas?

I installed the Aldrnari wabbajack list with AllGUD included, seemed to be working fine until I used bodyslide to rebuild everything to a new cbbe preset and since then I seem to either pull out a duplicate weapon and leave a copy on my belt, or my weapon just disappears when I sheath it. Is there a way to fix this? Sorry if this is a basic question, I've just made the move from xbox to pc so I'm trying to get my head around all of the new things available to me. Thank you

I don't get the mod weapon meshes displayed. During processing xEdit tells me, there is an Error. Is it straight up not possible to do this for mod weapons or did I mess up at one point?

Hi. Having trouble with setting this up. I have painstakingly followed your RU-vid tutorial and the troubleshooting comment on the Nexus page many times, I’ve been trying to get this to work over a few days now. As with a lot of other people, all the items in game show up and work fine, however, my custom textured steel sword and iron shield won’t show (unless unsheathed). As I said, I’ve followed all instructions to the T, even going back on myself and redoing the whole process again. the only area I’m unsure about, because it was skipped over quite quickly in the RU-vid tutorial without much explanation, is the two “Editor ID” prompt boxes after selecting the “AlternateTextureModelsposion” script. I left blank as instructed but I’m thinking maybe I have to enter something to link to my mods custom textures? any help will be greatly appreciated! Dying to get this to work! (Posted to the Nexus originally)

You mentioned that I don't need any plugins selected to run the skeleton script. But my SSEdit is full of mods and there is no blank space for me to right click? is there a way to not select anything when right clicking??

The plugins made by the texture patcher are safe to be merged with Merge Plugins?

Does the skeleton arm fix get fixed with fnis? or does fnis not fix what the link in the allgud nexus page points to?

this is probably a really stupid question, but when you run the skeleton script, you right click on a blank space so that nothing is selected but i don't have a blank space so something is always selected. so how can i deselect mods?
