Thank you so much for this video. I have a 2011 528i. And everyone said it was a newer expensive HID bulb, but its just this very simple H7 bulb !

I had the same experience. It's a simple H7 bulb. This video show me how to open it up and replace it and I saved huge $$$. The world seems to be a scam anymore unless you take time to go get the stuff and do it yourself

Great, simple tutorial. Pro tip! Add some dielectric grease for a better electrical connection and easier removal for the next time you replace it!

I've done this a few times on F11 520d 2011 and best is to remove the wheel when you are trying to get at the bulb .. Good Video

thanks for the video, very helpful but to change the bulb with the headlight out of the car on the work bench is very easy and nobody wants to take the headlight out of the car just to change a bulb. to change it while the headlight is in the car its much easier to remove the wheel from the car which gives you much more room. i also found i couldn't remove the bulb holder by hand even with the additional room with the wheel off so i used a pair of pipe pliers (water pump pliers) to carefully and gently remove the bulb holder and put it back on with the new bulb fitted, cheers derek

I got to step five and I pulled as hard as I could even with pliers and it wouldn’t unplug I made sure to just pull the part you pulled too

You have to pull harder because it’s stuck. You can use a flat blade screwdriver to insert between the bulb holder and the light bulb.

Thank you for the video. The only problem is when putting back the bulb inside the bulb compartment, its very difficult to twist to the right and locked properly, because the access is small and hard to reach it. I have to ask my little daughter to help me with her smaller hand. LOL x

Holy cow I was so frustrated! But I figured out that if you face toward the rear of the car while reaching backwards into the bulb slot with the nearest arm to the car you can easily[exaggerated] twist the bulb carriage into those darn clips that hold it. I know I might sound confusing, but if you have gotten to that point of installing the new bulb than you know what I mean...

Hi , my headlights had leds fitted with completely different bulb holders , i am really struggling to find bulb holders for halogen bulbs perhaps yoy could point me in the right direction because none online look like the ones in your video , thanks

HUGE big bonnet with an engine slung against the firewall and you still can't just replace a headlight bulb without going through the wheel arch to remove a brittle piece of plastic. Purely designed to frustrate the home mechanic and bring in the $$$$. No wonder they dont make Haynes manuals for these PITA cars.

You don’t have to you can just turn the wheels away from the covers to get at the screws with a small ratchet

They removed it to make the filming easier. You’re meant to just do it with it in place. It’s fiddly but possible.

the design of how the bulb fits into its socket, on the F10 ...... is VERY SOLID and ROBUST. althou i find it strange to have such a sensitive part accessed through the wheel. as for replacing the battery in the trunk . . . they MESSED up BIG time on the design !!!
