“The golden rule in steering is you go where you look”. In this tutorial video, we’ll be looking at one of the 2 recommended steering methods i.e., the pull-push steering method.
I do use the hand-over-hand steering method at times when I’m parking the vehicle.
Here are the reasons I use the pull-push steering method.
1. I got both hands on the steering wheel
2. It allows an immediate turn in either direction at any point during steering
3. It contributes to the smoothness and control of my steering
4. I can reach the wiper control and indicator switch without taking my hands off the steering wheel.
Furthermore, these days the steering wheel is multifunction meaning they have other controls such as volume control for the audio system and the aircon temperature control are all on the steering wheel. One can say that everything is within reach and at the tip of the finger. Of course, all cars these days have airbag fitted on them as a standard fitting. The other feature of the multifunction steering wheel is that it has the cruise control lever fitted on it as well.
The aim of this tutorial is to demonstrate the movements of the pull-push steering method and to help those who struggle with steering. Watch it again to fully comprehend that movement. I know the approach can be complex initially. With patience and lots of practice, you will be able to master the pull-push steering method.
