I noticed there was a lot of comments saying that they were confused. I just finished making it and this is only my 3rd crochet project. I think this tutorial was easier to keep up with than a lot of others and i especially appreciate having the instructions written at the bottom as well. Thank you for making this ❤

Great pattern and really easy to follow for people experienced in crocheting. Please don't feel bad about all the people complaining about the difficulty. No, it's not easy for beginners, but not every pattern needs to be, and I honestly don't think there is any way you could have explained it to make it easier.

I chose your tutorial because I liked the finished result on the thumbnail and it didn't disappoint! It was supper easy to follow, I never got lost, and the end result is beautiful. Did mine completely red, and I'll definitely use this tutorial again for another bandana like yours cause I loved that skein of yarn you used. This might be a stupid question but the boarder got me fucked up lol 😅 when you get to the corner and you've finished the first half how do you finish the other side? It just cuts the end. Do you restart the pattern ch3,sk3sts work a v-st in next st, ch3, sk 3sta, SC in next st ect. Or do continue the pattern from work a v-st , ch3, sk 3, SC in the next st? Hopefully this makes sense 😬 maybe I'm overthinking it lol
@hookthatyarn

Yes, you repeat what you were doing ch3 skip 3, work the sc, ch5, sk1, sc, ch3, sk3, v-st. Also, it took me a second to stop laughing when I read the first part of your comment. Thank you for that lmao 🤣 Let me know if my answer helped

Came in a bit late but absolutely love this pattern ! Thanks for showing us this video! Just a question real quick, on the last round, corner area, we single crochet one into the chain 5 then chain 1, finished the 8 double crochets, then I found that you skip that chain 1 and directly single crochet into the 5 chains, maybe it’s a missed detail ? Just genuinely have a lil second thought abt the last corner space!
@hookthatyarn
@hookthatyarn 3 месяца назад
Good question: the chain space before the corner is the ch-8 space; we single crochet into the ch-8 space and (chain 1, then double crochet into the ch-2 space) you repeat what is in the (-) parentheses a total of 4 times into the chain 2 space, you will have 4 double crochet and 4 chain 1 spaces. After you do that you make a chain 4 picot. Into the same chain 2 space you (double crochet and chain 1) repeat this a total of 4 times so you have 4 double crochet and 4 chain 1 spaces. (In total you have 8dc with 1 picot in between them and ch1 separating each double crochet Then you single crochet into the chain 8 space and repeat the pattern of single crochet in the chain 5 space and cluster picot cluster that we were doing before. I hope that helped 🙏

Definitely stuck on row 6 of the border😭 I only have 2 spaces of Ch5 between the v-stitches but I guess I need 3 ch 5 spaces to complete row 6? I have to keep pausing it because I to try and see the lay out of the row so far
@hookthatyarn
@hookthatyarn 3 месяца назад
You are right it is 3 ch-5 spaces Row 5 starts like every row with a v-st made with the ch3, then you ch5, single crochet into the ch-3 of the pineapple stitch (sc), Ch5, Single crochet into the next ch-3 of the pineapple stitch (sc), Ch5, and then v-st into the ch2 space of the v-st. This will give you 3 ch-5 spaces in between the v-stitches. For row 6 you are doing 3dc shell with ch4 picots, 3dc shell Sc in ch-5, shell, ch-4 picot, shell: into the ch-5 sp that is in between the 2 sc stitches Sc in the ch-5 and shell, ch-4 picot, shell in the ch-2 of the v-st. You repeat this until you reach the ch-8 of the corner. Sc in the ch-8, In the ch-2 space of the v-st (ch1, dc) total of 4 times for 4 dc sts Make a ch-4 picot, then (dc, ch1) total of 4 dc, and Sc in the ch-5 sp. And repeat what you were doing working shell, picot, shell in the v-sts and in the ch-5 spaces between the 2sc sts. I hope this helped

hii I'd like to ask....what if i only did 8 rounds, what should my border pattern be??? thank youuu
@hookthatyarn
@hookthatyarn 4 месяца назад
Hi milky the border is worked up in multiples of 10 because that is what fits the border pattern perfectly each time. You can try it with 8 and do the same border pattern but you might be missing some stitches in between the corner space.

@hailieb5742 11 месяцев назад
Hi I can't tell if it's me but I'm struggling with the repeat of the first border row- even though I have 7 cluster spaces, nothing seems to be lining up, and I can't seem to follow the repeat?? Could you help in any way?
@hookthatyarn
@hookthatyarn 11 месяцев назад
Question: do you have 10 rows of the granny square pattern? At row 10: I have 9 clusters in total. Not including the v-st: including the cluster in the ch-2 sp. INcluding the v-st space to the ch-2 sp: I have 11 spaces. make sure you check that you have the right amount of rows and the right amount of stitches per cluster. Let me know if that helped. If not you can also join the Facebook group.

how many row will i add if the triangle is too small after 10 rows?
@hookthatyarn
@hookthatyarn Месяц назад
The best way to make it larger would be to go up in hook size to a 4.5mm. The granny triangle needs to be in multiples of 10 rows for it to work. I don’t recommend this but you could do 10 more rows of granny. The problem is that will make a huge bandana. Keep in mind the border adds a few inches.

@2011rogueangel
@2011rogueangel 2 месяца назад
3.5 mm hook. The yarn, I'm not sure but I think mine was a little bigger than yours. Maybe that's the problem. I was using a random ball of yarn that was given to me.
@hookthatyarn
@hookthatyarn 2 месяца назад
@@2011rogueangel it could be the reason. In the video I am using a light 3 yarn with a 3.75mm. Try a 5mm hook and see if you get a looser gauge. I have a Facebook group if you want to send me a photo: facebook.com/share/cqtx17Yrd1AhS2Yz/?mibextid=K35XfP

I’m sorry I didn’t get the notification for your comments. I did 10 rows for the bandana. That would be 8 clusters between the beginning v-st and the corner There are 26 stitches counting from the 2 dc of the v-st and the 8 clusters of 3dc = 24 sts total should be 26 stitches on both sides. Please let me know if that helps.

Which type of yarn is the best for this kind of proyect?
@hookthatyarn
@hookthatyarn Месяц назад
You could use any yarn. I personally prefer any yarn weight 3 or under. The yarn I used is the yarn Bees Chloe yarn which a roving type yarn that is similar to Red Heart Unforgettable and Michaels brand Loops and Threads Facets. But it depends on what you want. I found that using a worsted weight yarn makes the project feel bulky and heavy.

the explanation of the border could have been better :(
@hookthatyarn
@hookthatyarn Месяц назад
The border only works when you do the granny pattern in multiples of 10. Your final row of granny stitch should be on 10/20/30 or any multiple of 10 greater that that. That will give you the stitch sweet spot for the border. Row 1 of the border is the set up row. You start the row like we have been turn, 3 slip stitch to reach the ch-2 space, chain 3, double crochet (dc), ch2, dc2. *Then ch 3, skip 3, in the next st sc, ch5, skip 1, sc in the next st, Ch3, skip 3, do a double v-st in the next st: (2dc, ch2, 2dc)* you repeat this across and also in the corner chain 2 space you work that double v-st; end with a double v-st in the last ch-2 space. I hope that helped. But if you put the project down forever that’s okay too 🫶🏻🫶🏻

I made it to the first round of the boarder, and once we start working back down, you stop explaining and I’m now stuck because I don’t know how to end the first round at the corner. It’s such a beautiful pattern in your finished pictures and it’s the only one I wanted to try to make.
@hookthatyarn
@hookthatyarn 3 месяца назад
This should be a timestamp. The border on the first row is worked with the same repeat pattern. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tobTklcZCoA.html Row 1: Turn, 3slst to reach the ch-2 sp, ch3, 1DC, ch2, 2DC in the ch-2 sp; ch3, sk 3sts, SC in the next st, ch5, sk 1 st, SC in the next st. *(ch3, sk 3 sts, work a v-st in the next st, ch3, sk 3sts, SC in the next st, ch5, sk 1 st, SC in next st)* repeat from (-) to the corner. Corner space: Continue working the pattern as it works a v-st into the ch-2 sp. Repeat portion in (-), end with v-st in last ch-2 sp.

I think you are right I may do an updated video on this pattern in the future. I hope dropping the snippet of the border pattern helped
@shibangibhattacharjee
@shibangibhattacharjee Месяц назад
the border pattern is very very sensitive, imo doesnt even correctly work so you gotta make your own adjustments and just wing it. i am not a beginner, neither too young to comprehend correctly but the counting toward the corner part is just patched and made to be managed for the sake of it, not following the video would lead to a very diff outcome that you can see and tell will not work for the project. i am not shitting on the pattern im trying to follow but god this pattern’s first border will be my villain origin story cause?????
@hookthatyarn
@hookthatyarn Месяц назад
lol your villain origin story oh man I wouldn’t want to be responsible for that. You are completely correct the border pattern only works when you work the granny square pattern in multiples of 10. Otherwise it doesn’t work up correctly. So the pattern works with row 10/20/30 and so on. I experimented with the border on other multiples and 10 is the sweet spot. If you do 18 rows for instance you won’t have the correct stitch count to complete the first row of the border

Not the best tutorial. Couldnt see the stitches when you described what to do cuz ur hand was hiding it. The terminology on things wasn't accurate. You would say skip a stitch then u would skip a cluster instead and then say skip one stitch and you skipped 3 instead. Very confusing . Couldnt even make the bandana cuz I was so frustrated.
