TV Land - First Day (on-air) OPEN - April 29th, 1996 

If anyone has ME tv and Anttena tv, you'll see the old shows that used to be on the old TV Land.

I remember when Nick At Nite was featuring TVLand sometimes, one night the showed Friday Night: 1972. It was the ABC line-up for Friday nights in '72 featuring The Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Room 222, The Odd Couple and Love American Style. Another time they did the CBS Saturday Night Line-up in '76. (I have that one somewhere on VHS, as well as the '72 lineup.) I didn't get TVLand on my cable system until nearly 3 years after it premiered. I only got to watch it at my brother's house during the holidays before that. I wish they hadn't stopped Super Retrovision Saturdays or the Retromercials. Thank God for Me-TV, Cozi-TV and Antenna-TV.

I was 11 years old when this first aired. So many good memories!

Good thing there's MeTV (the rebirth of TV Land) :-)

We all know we miss the old classics, but now there is ME TV, Cozi Tv, and Antenna TV, TV that was meant to be. You'll see all the old classics on those networks.

I didn't get TV Land until August of '97. Unfortunately, it was bad timing for me. That's when it was airing the reruns of Green Acres and I just started crying on and off because I couldn't accept the fact that Eva Gabor was dead. Don't get me wrong now: I love Green Acres, but that was still my mourning period back then. At the same time, I felt as though she was still alive, and she still is. She's alive today in spirint and in a much better place today.

Each of these networks seem to be very good for about 5 years, then they add new programs each year after the initial 5. IMHO, TV Land was so good for me up to 2001.

Old TV Land was so much better than the pale shadow it has been reduced to; however, if you get MeTV, you can see what these types of nostalgia networks SHOULD be!

With RU-vid, I barely miss those.

Today, TV Land is often showing the same shows rather than the ones in its early days.

This year is TV Land's 20th Anniversary

How sad has it gotten that we're now nostalgic about broadcasts that were nostalgic to begin with?

But still, TV Land was much better back then than it is today. They also had The Wonders of TV Land, (which featured shows that didn't last very long), those retromercials, Twip commercials (What on earth is Twip anyway?). If you're a Western and crime show fan, you had TV Land Goes West and Crime Stoppers on the weekends. In the summer of '98, there were 10-hour "VertiVision" marathons (Green Acres was one of them). Nowadays, they've gove down the tubes. Too many reality shows and movies.

I haven't seen TV Land in years.

While I do enjoy some of the shows TV Land shows now - Sanford & Son, Married...With Children and maybe Roseanne and All In The Family if the mood strikes - I agree, TV Land should always been the niche channel for Nostalgic TV. I mean I like shows from the 90s and 2000s but TV Land should be the safe haven for shows from the 50s to the 80s. Also bear in mind - the past is catching up to us - shows from the 80s and even early 90s are now "classics" sorry, but it's true - we're all getting old.

They need to bring back the retromercials and go back to their original programing (all of the classic shows and no reality shows).

Now this is when I had cable......it has gotten to expensive...and besides, it seems that I had it when TV LAND & Nick At Nite were at their BEST!!!

TV (B)Land pretty much sucks now. They no longer are a classic TV network. Nobody wants to watch their "Original Programming" because it sucks. Classic TV shows are what made TV (B)Land a channel everybody wanted and now nobody wants to watch. Antenna TV, METV and Retro TV Channel are where to go for "Classic" TV programming!!

I don't have tv land during my school days now i have this network now own by viacomcbs.

thats why they called it tv land, what ever dont go in the classicals of nick at nite, they had tv land now its nick at crap and tv crap land

"We shall hope to use it and never abuse it." I WISH people didn't abuse this medium. Television is a great medium for entertainment and education, but it's no longer done. Now we see wannabe garbage like Snooky and Kate. Screw the "reality stars". Reality, what a joke. My hopes are the same with internet for the same reason and more. Too bad internet has been turning into the same garbage.

I remember when the rerun of "Hogan's Heroes" was originally on a now defunct TV station in Alexandria. It was aired back in the 1980s before Dan Rather, with the CBS evening news. Boy, TV Land never had the Viacom's big dark \)/ or the V of Doom at the end of any tv show reruns.

Actually tvland was much better back then. Today tvland is woke and not family friendly anymore. Pretty sad! Tvland had come to this point.
