I heard about the AmoFit S by AmoLabs who created a vagus nerve stimulation device that creates neuro electromagnetic waves that stimulate the vagus nerve on a non invasive methodology but I have not seen many youtube reviews on the AmoFit S device.
Very informative. I have never seen this chart before so thank you. Also, I used the MIC for my Gastreophares. A new Gastroenterologist that I have decided to perform a new stomach delay test on me because it had been about 20 years since my first. At my total shock, my digestive time had been cut in half.
Thanks for the nice feedback. It looks like the official research for Adhd is ongoing www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0079612321000728 . There is a device called monarch for adhd w kids. Have you tried contacting them to see if they have suggestions?
If you have special requests for conditions not included in the master list of studies (see video description) let me know and I will try and find it for you
@@JennFrank I wasn't able to easily find a study soecifically for Gastroparesis, but have you looked around this message board? www.inspire.com/groups/scleroderma-foundation/discussion/vagus-nerve-stimulation-for-gastroparesis-headaches/ there are lots of posts about the topic.
@@HRVHackers Yes! FDA-approved for migraines, and it received emergency approval for Covid and long-haul symptoms as well. Great suggestion!! For people who aren't confident about using an old-school TENS machine, the gammacore is a prescription device. :)
Like others have said, Thank you for firstly an affordable device... Also very important how to use it. I have had hypo insomnia for over 30yrs no life. Was really at point of well I won't say it. But last night I found this. The nerve covers all the problems I have. The sleep problem is the start then all the other problems. It seems so clear like a light bulb being switched on. Thank you. I was searching for units but was out of my range. I have ordered from amazon in the UK as I live here. The ear clips also. I have been on dexamphitamines 12 yrs also provigil recently I knew when covid happened and the long term symptoms were exactly like mine I knew then only then the government would start looking at this illness. CFS, IHS, FATIGUE, REALLY NEED TO STop all these fancy names and start looking at the core of the problem the importance of the vagus nerve. With keeping this healthy would illuminate all my problems. Send my love to you and all those looking for help. Don't give up.
@@mosley607 I can totally relate to this. Having Lyme, CFS, chronic migraines and now relentless insomnia, and the meds that used to help aren't anymore...I'm looking into how to treat myself and have landing on the vagus nerve. I hope this helps you and I'm going to try it too.
THANK YOU! A few years ago, on vacation, I stimulated my vagus nerve accidentally. I fell, fracturing my wrist and was dehydrated, sleep deprived, and hadn't eaten in like 12 hours. I went to a clinic for my wrist and ended up passing out while they tried getting an x-ray. Vasovagal syncope. After a split and painkillers for 3 days? I felt AMAZING. For 3 weeks I slept, wasn't tired during the day, had so much energy- it was my wildest dream come true. I'm glad I found this: a safe way to stimulate it vs accidentally.
Right ear vs left ear? Virtually every study I've seen stimulates the LEFT ear, as the right ear stimulation could affect the functioning of your heart. The safe choice appears to be the LEFT ear. Update: a recent study states that the concern for stimulating the right side is for cervical stimulation. We are doing ear stimulation, so right side stimulation may not be a problem. Your safest bet is still left side for now though www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7199464/
From a safety perspective it is recommended from various sources to not go above 20hz-30hz. Study comparing effectiveness of different locations where you can place the ear clip: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27898202/
Thanks for the information. I've seen so many tVNS devices in the market, which are already overpriced. Just to let you know that tVNS is also helpful in migraine ( both in acute and preventative management) & cluster headache. A device named " GammaCore" has been approved for migraine & cluster headaches treatment but it's a prescription device and very expensive.
Sorry to hear that. I'm not familiar with that device but it looks like a cheap one that doesn't let you control the MA power the way the one I used in the video. I would highly recommend you check out dawn Wiley's group for device recommendations and more ( See video description)
Would love to know how this affects people with anhedonia or negative symptoms in bipolar and schizophrenia conditions who are undergoing a low carb or ketogenic diet!
Hi, I'm still using it, yes. Nothing major to report for me yet. I'm also going to try out the more expensive units like Dolphin to see if it makes a bigger impact. And will do a review if yes!
I have been using mine since March and feel that I started to see changes within two weeks, but I also make sure to take a sublingual b-complex vitamin every day, as well as d3 and selenium (my hematologist noticed I had a b12 deficiency). If I notice a sudden uptick in migraine or neuropathic symptoms, I will use the TENS unit for 40 minutes instead of just 20. I've had idiopathic neutrophilic leukocytosis since 2015, but when I visited my hematologist in April 2022, I actually had my first completely-normal blood test in 7 years! My hematologist kept shaking his head and asking me, "_What_ have you been doing??" I told him about the supplements and the tVNS. I really believe it's both that have contributed-not one or the other alone. Hope this helps!
I dont find any doctor who knows about this ...whom should i contact for poor vagus nerve functioning - gut motility, brain fog, dysphagia, yrouble speaking, stuffy nose, anxiety
i have a tiq device and bought some clips. this is a very scary thing to play around with. Im not in pain the first setting, but my ear is fibrillating and every now and then i feel a tingly sensation in my neck and face. I'm worried that I'm green mile'ing myself. i had it on for four minutes and then had a panic attack
Hello Hrv hackers, greetings from Turkey, my wife has epilepsy and uses 4 different medications, but there is still no full recovery. Will this vagus nerve stimulation device work on my wife?
There are studies who say that when the frequency changes every second between 2 hz and 100hz the tens unit has it biggest effect on lowering pain. I ask myself if this is also true when stimulating the vagus nerve with the same setting.
While I can't officially recommend anything, I am glad to link to information :) This is for anxiety: www.hmpgloballearningnetwork.com/site/pcn/posters/does-transcutaneous-vagal-nerve-stimulation-tvns-improve-hrv#:~:text=tVNS%20may%20have%20autonomic%20effects,%3B%20however%2C%20Napadow%20et%20al.

Can you please tell me why I felt worse after using tens at 200/15hz? I didn’t feel anything while using it but after my hr went up and I had dyspnea. Thank you
It sounds like that setting is too much for your nervous system. You will likely be better off with a device that lets you really finely adjust the intensity such as Dolphin VNS or Nurosym. You can also try the neck based stimulation approach via Pulsetto. Hope that helps! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NZXiReL3sGE.html
I have noticed a lot of images of clip placement for the concha have both wires in one clip. The red stimulation and black reference. The instructions that came with my clips said to put both wires in the tragus clip when stimulating through the tragus but only the stim wire in the concha one with the other on a lobe or shoulder clip/pad. Since I've seen it done both ways can you please tell me if using both wires in one clip, do we need to be utilizing the other input on the tens 7000 and use a 3rd or 4th wire for reference placement? Or is the other side of the clip working as a reference being on the other side of the ear with the black wire? Thanks!
I ve used 20hz 100 ms (a protocoll which should reduce the fight or fight respone) and the 20hz 200ms. I have the same earclips like in the vid. Only 1 mA is quite irritating feeling and not comfortable at all 2 ms is much more irritating. Am I am too sensitive or is my new tens unit not right. I ve bought the Dittman ten 250 which should be a proper tens unit. Should I go for microcurrent device to lower the mA intensity so that it is fine for me? Another question: The master pattern protocol talks about the material of the earclip, (I have no idea which material my earclip is) also the position on the ear is mentioned and for some patterns the current should not flow continuously, a function my tens unit doesn't have I wonder how important this function is get results like in the protocol? What do they mean with Shamstimulation?
You mention the left ear, but you are showing people to place the ear clip on the right ear. This can be dangerous because it can increase heart rate which is not safe for everyone. It can have opposite effects from relaxation.
That's just the automatic mirroring of the camera during recording. I explicitly mention the left ear and am showing the left ear. Thanks for the feedback though. Are you sure it increaes HR though? Do you have a link backing that up?
Hi, thank you so much for your content & sharing other resources such as the AVA FB group - as a result I've just invested in the NeuroTrac Multi-Tens with a double ear clip. I've set it up as per Dawn's video starting with 20Hz 50microS & did it for a minute clipped to my tragus which I wet with saliva. Even though I kept increasing the mA I couldn't feel anything (I went up to 6mA and the timer went off shortly after). Should I keep at 6mA to begin with or try and go up further next time? Also in your master list of studies, I could not find anything related to ME/CFS which is what I am trying to improve along with possible disautonomia - are you able to point in the direction/provide guidance on appropriate settings for this based on research? Any thoughts much appreciated
You should ask those exact questions in the Facebook group and somebody will help you. I pretty much focus on neck-based stimulation these days because it's more effective ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NZXiReL3sGE.html
You buy 2 ear clips and super glue them together per the below instructable. www.tenspros.com/black-ear-clip-electrodes-EAE01.html www.instructables.com/DIY-Transcutaneous-Vagus-Nerve-Stimulator/
At the first big thanks for sharing the information with us) Yesterday it was the first time with TVNS. I did it at the same way that you do in the video ! The hz is 20 And 200мц I didn't feel the tens unit i reached the number 35 then at 40 it was painful And by the time 35 started to feel painful and i decreased it until i reached 14 I did it for a 10 minutes At the final i felt that my head is heavy especially at the left part ... Is everything is normal to use a high tens? Why i don't feel anything if i use low tens? Is it's okey to feel that my head heavy ? By the way my wife also did the same for her she started to feel paniful at 18 And 15 it was comfortable for her And at the final she slept very good in the evening but she also told me that her head is heavy also
Glad you enjoyed the video. I can't give such personal advice since I'm not a coach or doctor. Some people have had success joining Dawn Wiley's AVA Facebook group and following their guides there
I tried Alpha Stim CES with no results. Some people have had success with it per Facebook groups I'm in. My general (non-medical) advice to folks is to try the least invasive therapies first, like Touchpoints and Apollo neuro. CES is zapping your brain after all
I’ve had long COVID brain fog since November. Nothing I do will stop the vertigo and nausea. I’m out of work because I can’t drive with my condition. Will this help?
Heather: I actually first read about VNS (vagus nerve stimulation) when reading an interview with a neurologist about possible treatment interventions for the migraine associated with long Covid. :)
Update: small study was published for long covid tens unit www.europeanpharmaceuticalreview.com/news/158262/long-covid-symptoms-improved-with-neuromodulation/
Great informativ video! I use garmin chest strap and Welltory app to measure my HRV and it shows me that my sympaticus is in overload since I got long covid. I recently came across Nurosym, which is marketed for my condition, but I find it expensive. Can tens do the same? Or which device would you recommend?
Thanks! I can't recommend Nurosym, IMO it's just an overpriced TENS unit. Check out Dawn wileys Facebook group for tens device recommendations. Also check out my video of pulsetto
Unfortunately I don't use Facebook anymore and I can't find info for POTS, cfs, or RA... also hypotension when standing is a deal for me too... I know.. it sucks.... but my HRV is low so maybe just stick with the basic recipe?
cogenceimmunology.com/clinical-pearls-transcutaneous-vagus-nerve-stimulation/ has the settings for what's recommended by the member's of Dawn Wiley's Facebook group for ME/CFS. And this is her doctor www.drmyhill.co.uk/wiki/Postural_orthostatic_tachycardia_syndrome_(POTS)_and_the_vagus_nerve talking about pots. Something yo look into and check with your doctor for approval. @@HRVHackers Thx for quick answer. The pdf showen after googeling „congence immunology tvns“ just gives infos about tens machine in general. No sugestions about tens frequencies for cfs. Could you write me the frequencies?
Where do you buy the ear clip from? I am trying to cure my long covid MECFS and POTS and dysautonomia. I can only find double clips for both ears. Have brain fog though.
Usually not but if you feel really concerned it's a good idea to check in with your doctor. 10 minutes?! How many weeks did you use the TENS before bumping it up to 10 minutes?
my old tens machine has 2 wires coming out of the machine. And 4 sticky pads, each wire has a red & black connector. I need to buy ear clips, and I am confused about the single and double electrode options. it looks like I can only find the single electrode option. So do I put 2 clips, one red, one black from a single wire into my left cymba/concha. And leave the other wire unused? Thanks?
If you are going to buy a single ear clip you would connect it to the red wire and put it on your ear. You connect the sticky pad to the black wire and put that on the back of shoulder like I mentioned in the vid. Hope that explains it.
I use this one www.tenspros.com/intensity-micro-combo-tens-microcurrent-di9698.html. because it mentions tVNS therapy in the description. You can buy a USB rechargeable 9 volt battery on Amazon. European folks tend to prefer Medfit unit due to shipping ease. Cheers!
@@HRVHackers Awesome thank you. Can you recommend settings for post viral Dysautonomia and chronic fatigue type situation? I understand it doesn’t replace the advice and guidance of a doctor :-)
I'm glad that we've gotten the medical disclaimer out of the way in this conversation 😄 cogenceimmunology.com/clinical-pearls-transcutaneous-vagus-nerve-stimulation/ is the recommended protocol from Dawn Wiley's Facebook group for CFS. Can't recall if you use Facebook but I find the groups worth getting even a fake Facebook account for
I haven't found anything specifically for viral dysautonomia, if you do, definitely let me know please. I've just been doing 200 micro 25Hz sessions because I've seen related studies like this one: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6517949/ Also, an interesting observation: I once saw a video where a health coach mentioned that dysautonomia happens when something is preventing the body from doing its job of healing. For me it's definitely food. For example, when I tried Prolon 5 day fast, 2 of those days the HF power of my HRV was higher than it's been in years, and I was also able to stand for like 15 minutes at a time before my HR starts to increase. Usually it's about a minute. Have you investigated food as a possible trigger?
Are there any devices that are easily available in Germany? The only thing I found is the "VITAtronic TENS Gerät Vagusnerv-Stimulator", but only on their own website and I can't seem to find a single review anywhere. I bought this tens unit, but I can't get it to work. I did the exact parameters as you have them, but they go back to "N" and the "N" blinks, and if I keep pressing, the others blink as if to set them. I am dumbfounded. I tried a ton of times, and I can't find anything in the instructions to say what I am doing wrong, or what I have to press. I'm also scared of pressing something while on me, and get shocked, so I try to adjust it while it's off me, but the thing keeps going back to a blinking "N" as if waiting to be set on another mode. What am I doing wrong? Thank you
@@HRVHackers So it's because I had to set the mA. I set it to 2 but I can only do it for the tragus because it's too much for the cymba conchae for me. It was confusing because I thought the settings were supposed to look like you have them up there, but they end up looking differently

I cant advise on that specifically. Anectdotally most people use either cymba conchae or tragus, regardless of what health condition they are treating. Although this study says cymba conchae is preferred: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27898202/ cymba conchae stimulation is better than tragus according to this study? "Conclusions: These findings suggest that tVNS at the cymba conchae properly activates the vagal pathway and results in its strongest activation, and thus may be the optimal location for tVNS therapies applied to the auricle."
