Twilight:2000 - a classic roleplaying game returns. Free League Publishing today announced that the new edition of the Twilight: 2000 roleplaying game, published in partnership with Game Designers' Workshop (GDW) and Amargosa Press, will be officially released on November 16.
Join Tomas Härenstam and Doug as they give an overview of the core Twilight:2000 products available on release.
The launch includes both a massive boxed set as well as a virtual tabletop edition on Foundry VTT. The new retro-apocalyptic edition of Twilight: 2000 goes back to the roots of the franchise with open-world roleplaying in the devastation of World War III. Just like the original 1984 edition, this new game is set in a year 2000 devastated by war - now in an alternate timeline where the Soviet Union never collapsed.

I’m surprised it doesn’t cost more. Any other company would have sold that for 80$ or more! Free league is the best value on the market as always!

Hey, I am a Professional Gamemaster, who is on the T2K4 Discord as Shroud, currently running a weekly free-to-play game campaign with 6 players, heading into Session #4. I had not heard of the new edition until November 2021. I immediately bought it the week before it went public. I am a disabled veteran of the United States Navy, I served 9 years. I played the original 1st edition and 2nd edition with other Navy players in our off time on Active duty. I love the new 4th edition, it is less crunchy but has more flavor for the story. Great job on the production design, illustrations, and rules. I can see where your team went page by page through the older editions and included most of what was there, trying to stay faithful to the original, while emphasizing a more hi-speed RP-Focused approach. I love the new game, and the players are enthusiastic to continue. Thanks also for your Free League forums, lots of good discussions there, as well as the Twilight:2000 4E Discord.

Thank you, Doug - Thank you, Tomas! Twilight 2000 was one Fria Ligan title that I did NOT back. However, looking it over - I caught myself saying - “that swell stuff would be great for my MYZ campaign”

Thank you for thanking me for my service. That being said, as a Norwegian wich served during the cold war, I hope that the almost total omission of Norway in the 4th.edition will be rectified in some future release. As it stands, Norway ( a founding NATO member) is briefly mentioned once. Norway actually shared a border with the Soviet union. I also find it hard to believe that a US incursion into a Sweden attacked by the Soviet union, would happen without first landing US forces (Of wich at lest two divisions were ear-marked for service in Norway) on Norwegian soil, to thus use Norway as a spring-board for operations into Sweden. The US had (and still has) huge stockpiles of material, including tanks in Norway. I cant but feel that as this edition was written by Swedes, the omission of Norway as a theatre of operations is by design, rather than anything else. Especially as it is firmly stated in the books that the focus for now is on the northern part of Europe.

@@EllinorDilorenzo Actual Swedes maybe. Norwegians? Not so much I think. And wild accusations aside. The rest of my sentiment stands. As a "Metal-box" kickstarter backer, I actually raised this same concern several times during the process of making the game, on Free Leagues forum. This also when they were specifically asking for feedback. I never got an answer. I also would like to direct your attention towards the fact that Free League have "loved" my original post. They know what it is about. That being said. I have recieved my metal box, and it is glorious. great production value, and some new, innovative things for the referee. Looking forward to putting it all to use.

And yes. In my campaign, there will be tons of Norwegian troops in Sweden, supporting their American NATO-allies.

I got on the live stream early, but had to leave, Bee Boop :P Just came back to watch the video... Yeah, I started on the first boxset, then got the 2.0 and 2.5, even the FFE 01 version, (and 2013) The BEST music for Twilight 2000, Everything by "HIDDEN CITIZENS" Tomas, next time you need to do a kickstarter video for this game check out Que Sera, Sera (Epic Version)
