They made a huge mistake in targeting Sinder. I believe that this V-tuber is remained uncancellable due to how less toxic her community is.

Sinder is really sweet. Twitter getting upset at her cover because it’s “not metal” or because it “doesn’t sound good” and that she should stop making music is upsetting. She has great potential, and I honestly can’t wait for her to make more music in the future

The funny thing is, there are definitely ways to provide constructive criticism for the song. The mixing is rather rough (vocals too loud, parts of drums are too quite while others are too loud, etc.), guitars go from sounding pretty good (chorus) to sounding offbeat and tasteless (mainly the verse), etc. Rap meets Metal is a REALLY tough thing to nail, because it requires a lot of tact - they are two completely different genres, with completely different emphases, and melding them together can be really, REALLY tricky. The song itself is cringe so falling into the trap of praising it or over-analyzing results in this kind of discourse. At the same time, it's her first song, and it's an attempt to learn and build on and perfect. So just hating on it without actually providing constructive criticism results in an unnecessary dog-piling that results in what we're seeing now. My advice: ignore hateful comments, analyze constructive criticism, and go from there. They are first attempts for a reason.

As a metal fan and a Sinder fan, it really doesn't matter how good the cover is or whether you like the song. I can't sing at all. I feel that anyone can sing decently with enough time and practice, but I can't because I've never been able to overcome the fear. Like if I practiced I could become better but I know I'm bad and even alone in my own home I can't overcome the fear and the feeling of embarrassment of how bad I am, so I can't even practice. So seeing someone like Sinder not only sing but record it and publicly post it for all to see I can't help but be impressed by the strength it takes to do that. It's easy to show off a skill when you good at it, it's much harder to build up the will to show yourself as a beginner, before you've mastered something. She deserves praise for putting herself out there, regardless of how good it is.

I hate this cover. But I never got all hateful and attacked her. I just said I didn't like it. And that's it. Like a Sensible Adult.

If there is anything that needs to be said about Twitter. Then it would be that if you're getting canceled and hate. Chances are, you've done something right.

One thing I'll add to Sinder thing is, on her stream, she said that some of the people that were criticizing her also started to harass the people that worked behind the scenes on the cover (many of whom are her friends), and some of them went so far as to reply to her community's supportive comments on her video with insulting and threatening/harassing replies. EDIT: The person that did the music arrangement tweeted out that she received "KYS" comments because of her work on Sinder's cover

To be fair, text-message MFA is slowly being rolled out of apps as it is unsecure. Microsoft itself does not allow users to use text message to authenticate MFA anymore, but it's still supported for users that already had it.

I praise an original/cover/karaoke song performance when I think it's great and keep quiet if I think the singing it bad because no matter how good or bad, that performer had way more courage to get in front of hundreds if not hundreds of thousands of people and sing than I do. I respect that!

For the Twitter thing: no one should use SMS authentication. It cost money for Twitter and it's unsafe for users when compared to app auth or security keys. I hope more companies do this (remove it altogheter) so we can get rid of SMS for authentication once and for all.

Her cover is actually pretty good for a first in my musically experienced (nearly 20 years) opinion, I absolutely recommend taking a listen, it is on her RU-vid channel. It does objectively have some things that could use some work, but that is to be expected in a first attempt, I wasn't perfect when I started, either (actually, I was pretty freaking awful). Yeah, the sign is weird and out of place, but like you said, so is the guy for his response. Security absolutely would not have tolerated that sign, I guarantee they would have at least made her stop carrying it around like that due to its antagonistic message, though they more likely would have just tossed her out entirely, convention security does not mess around. I actually don't see an issue with Twitter's move, this doesn't block 2FA entirely, only a single method is blocked, leaving multiple other methods that work just as well. The Viz move is brilliant, especially with these being older anime that aren't likely to attract people to paywall sites like newer ones currently being uploaded might. You're right on Velma, it was kind of planned already, it was just coincidence that people hate watched. I sincerely hope it does not get a third, perhaps even getting the Cowboy Bebop Netflix treatment. The song is indeed cringe, but cringe can be fun sometimes. Definitely not as an entire brand, but every once in a while you enjoy seeing someone go there. I really liked her voice from before she became a vtuber. As far as her singing goes, she has some work to do on matching her vocal rhythm to the music, but that comes with experience and practice can fix that. It wasn't an easy song to start on because of the speed and lack of subdivided beats, relying more on her own timing than any musical cues. For a first official attempt, it's not bad. Is it great? No. But every performer has to start somewhere. I hope she uses both sides of the argument to motivate her to put more training in before the next one, and that there is in fact a next one.

As a metalhead, the vocals aren't even something worth critiquing if they're done like that. It's like, they're clearly not trying to sound super good, they're trying to be funny, cringe and coomerbait. Which like...why is that seriously an issue for people? SMS authentification is pretty expensive for the company - they pay some cents for *every* SMS they need to send, so it's not about Twitter Blue but about reducing maintenance costs. Connor strikes me as a closset lolicon. He proffesses a huge love for milfs, and can't name a single GOOD H in that category. In general he feels extremely nervous and awkwaed around erotic topics and the milf thing sounds like a cover or overcompensation for something. Then there is the fact that out of all vtubers, he watched her stream for months and then approached mouse back in the time she used her most sqeacky voice and leaned more into the loli thing.

I know the person who was calling out the sign-carrier. I do agree that he could have, and should have, handled the situation better than he did. The girl carrying the sign was obviously looking to stir up controversy (likely paid or otherwise dared to on behalf of some known bad actors), and it doesn't look good for our side when someone reacts the way he did, but I understand WHY he reacted the way he did. And she is very lucky that this is the worst reaction she supposedly got.
