If not, his reputation has been severely tarnished by this whole controversy. Even if it comes out that his actions were technically legal, his misleading actions and terrible response only served to drag his name further into the mud.

He tries to claim the fees was the reason, but the whole inflation stuff, he actively let the money devalue far more then the "Fees" even with the fees the money from when he started the idnie land already is more devalued then the fees, he has done nothing but let the money sat and was gonna let it sit there, the money was being devlaued for nearly a decade and people still try to claim. *Checks notes*, that the dude is fine becuase he brought "Recipts" something he doesn't even show in his video and has no proof it is there, claims that he doesn't know about the golf tournaments(Who's revanue wasn't being reported at all and his own charity is filed as a private one and had other charities donating to the charity his family runs as a public charity, as if they didn't label it that, they would have to pay fees), so he has dodged the taxes on these donations(From other private stuff, and that isn't counting the amount of untold money that was brought directly to them as the donations from the golf tournament where sent directly to the "headquarters" aka the families house).

I think the worst example you could present of that would be how towards the end of the Onision grooming drama people were actually siding with him over Chris Hansen. It's kinda what 'killed' John Swan's channel. He sided with Onision because it brought him views, but when the drama died it was just a big black mark on his channel, so the views declined to the point where his career on RU-vid wasn't sustainable. Also, Onision never stopped trying to groom people, he just really struggles to find victims these days.

Let’s be honest here, none of them watched any of the videos calling out Jirard.

Optics do not require logic and can often times usurp it. Doesn't matter if that's right or wrong, its just reality (don't get mad at me, blame society at large). As someone that is on Karl & Mutahar's side in this fiasco, I knew that sponsorship was gonna be problematic the moment it started. Didn't matter what excuse he came up with. Couple alternatives I think could've landed with some people a bit better: 1. Do not include a sponsor but instead say something like "Due to the nature of this topic, I am not including a sponsor in this video, however this RU-vid channel is primary source of income for me & my family. Please consider donating via [insert source] to support me during this reduced sponsorship period" 2. Release the OHF video without sponsorships. Make another video with as low effort as reasonable and include a sponsorship, and also mention about reduced revenue 3. Release the OHF video without sponsorships. On all his community platforms explain the situation of reduced revenue and ask his audience to go through and share older videos to boost his revenue.

It’s also the same people who will overlook or be okay with the $125k of expenses deducted from the charity fund or the fact that Jirard made personal withdrawals to reimburse himself for Indieland. If Karl is supposed to work pro bono, why can’t OHF?

They literally waited for a whole year since that discord call to let him fux the situation up, they only went public with their videos after the November 4th FPS stream when went back again to promoting his charity. If anything people should thank them for actually pushing him to donate the money.

If you wanna be charitable then he just made a mistake, personally I think he just rethought that making it seem like he knew for 2 years would make him look even worse (which is true) so he changed it to 1 year.

@@1Hexxer maybe I misunderstood then, I thought the discord call was made by the beginning of 2023 and that's why he said I've known the money was not donated for almost a year, since even if he has discovered the situation back in 2022 that's almost 2 years we're 20 days away from 2024. He either misspoke or I misunderstood the time frame.

Not to mention money lost it's valeu through the years. Whatever was donated is certainly less than it would have been years ago.

Churches and pastors do it all the time as non-profits. Was it moral? Probably not. Is it a crime? Nope. 501c3 tax exempt status he could have paid himself a salary if he wanted to.

him using a part of the donation to make the event itself is not as big of a deal. its actually expected. of events such as this, which is why, when there's a charity event the amount of money donated is not 100% in the vast majority of cases. the real problem is the lying and continuous lies he did even after he had already know(something he himself admits to in the interview).

@@marcosdheleno It's an issue when Jirard states multiple times that the open hand foundation does not touch any of that money and it goes directly to charity. If some of the funds were intended to pay for the charity event, that needs to specified in the tax forms not bundled all under administrative costs and sneakily replaced because Jirard claims that it was "f'd up". But I agree. The lying is a big issue because it makes me wonder how much of that 600K was from donations and how much of it was replaced funds from using that money for other expenses.
