It seems like there was some confusion during the shift change of Ground controllers at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
While Delta Airlines flight DL1460, an Airbus A320-212 (N344NW), was taxiing for Runway 30L, Delta Air Lines Flight 1104, another Airbus A320 (N345NW), completing its pushback at the same time, resulting in a collision of their wingtips.
Both Airbus A320s returned to their gates.

IMPORTANT:
This video is all about education. It's designed to give aspiring pilots and air traffic controllers a taste of real-world situations through example scenarios and helpful info. But that's not all! Current pilots and controllers can also benefit by listening to real radio communications from around the globe. This helps them stay sharp and think about how they might handle similar situations in the future.
To create these videos, I keep my ear to the ground on major aviation news and events. I check the dates and time zones to see if I can find recordings of the radio conversations. Then, I become a bit of a broken record myself, listening to them repeatedly to create subtitles and identify key moments. Finally, I whip up some animations (or grab them from ADS-B websites) and pull it all together into a neat package.

DL 1104 was pushing back from G4. As a retired ramper and pushback instructor who has worked that gate, typically the flight deck would advise us to NOT block taxiway Alpha. To accommodate this, we would complete the push, then pull the aircraft clear of the chicane to avoid this exact scenario. Without seeing the actual ramp camera video, it's only speculating to lay blame. Drug tests all around! ☕

Seeing you worked there! Why wouldn't the ramp from 1104 wait for that flight to pass? Or why didn't that wing walker stay with that aircraft to make sure this didn't happen

My rule is: if there’s any doubt about clearance… stop and get confirmation. Even in a 321 you can see the last few feet of the wingtip from the sliding window. I’ll even open it to get an even better view of the wingtip. That’s just me though.

I do not... I mean, I know this is a graphic and not real life, but how does 1460 keep going with that narrowed area and the pushed back 1104? How is there no ground staff to warn away 1460? And regardless of ground staff, instructions or no, one would think the Captain would be a slight bit concerned about clearance in that case and stop the plane, maybe request taxi reroute to A7 - W7 - W to the runway? I'm sure I'm completely wrong, sorry to bother. :|

@@Mark-pp7jy Please explain how my statement is ignorant! A well trained ramp would have waited to push 1104 and let 1460 pass behind or stop 1460 after push back ,that why you have wing walkers to avoid things like this! Good management tries to avoid putting flights and aircraft at gates were this type of scenario might happen! Your right it is not a prefect world! But these passengers that pay a lot of money to fly and put their lives in the hands of these rampers might like perfection though!

True, but a good ramp would know this plane was coming in and wait,or at least keep a wingwalker out there! So this type of thing wouldn't happen

just a question.. Like in this case, are the pilots required to do a drug test after each incident. Just asking. Now days if you are able to look at the pilot as you enter the aircraft, look at his eyes. If dilated then there is something on board, like a CNS stimulant.
