@@vineetharsh hi Vineet, I have my loop interview on Tuesday for an L6 position. I'm really nervous about the behavioral section. Do you have any tips on how I can best utilize next 2 days. Thanks
Out of the many videos that are available in the RU-vid on Amazon interview preparation, I can tell that Dan's tips are genuine and helpful. Thank you, Dan!
Hi Dan I'd like to thank you so much for all the work you put in to help candidates like me. Happy to say I got the job after 7 interviews! Tip to everyone - Yes, try and prepare a good amount of examples but don't panic if you run out of new ones to bring up. I had to repeat about 4 of mine throughout the loop but was still offered the job. Make sure you have a few stronger examples with at least some data points that you can bring up, which you can repeat. Then a few 'filler' examples that you only mention once to provide variety. That worked for me at least. Good luck!
Hello Dan, Thank you for taking time in preparing and sharing such informative videos and example answers. I had my first telephonic interview yesterday with Amazon and going through your videos for preparation was very helpful. The questions that I had for the position applied for ( Sr Engagement Manager ) were as below: 1. Tell me about yourself 2. What do you know about the role of an EM 3. What technical certifications have you recently taken 4. Why do you think you would like to work for Amazon now 5. Tell me about the most complex project that you have worked 6. Tell me about a situation where you were to challenge the customer 7. Explain about the Scrum Ceremonies that would follow at work 8. Tell me about the three key factors that you would persuade your customer to move their services to the cloud 9. Tell me about the finances that you handled for your recent engagement and the number of team members 10. Tell me about the governance strategies that you implemented on your recent engagements and how it was beneficial 11. Tell me a situation on how to manage spend in running services in the cloud and did you encounter situation in recent project The session lasted for close to an hour and 10 minutes. I posted the following questions back when it was my turn 1. If I am to be considered for the role how will be measured as a right fit by the end of the year 2. What differentiators do we adopt other than the unique services that provide when compared to our competitors
Hi Dan, I got the SDE job!! I wanted to thank you for all your content. Your videos are THE BEST resource to prepare for the Amazon interview, I found this video and the "top 35 questions" very very useful. Thank you!!
Dan you are the best. I just got offered a job at Amazon for a graduate area manager. After watching your videos it helped me to prepare for the interview and I got the job. If anyone have interview coming up with Amazon Dan materials are the best forget all other online youtuber. They talk to much, Dan goes straight to the point. Thanks one more time 👍🏼
Hi Dan, Just wanted to thank you for all your help! This video was perfect for helping me prepare for my interview at Amazon. I was asked questions you mentioned from this video (and others as well). Your tips on what/how to answer really helped me out; they extended me an offer 4 days later! Officially becoming an Amazonian in a few weeks. Thank you sooooo much, you are a MVP!
Hi Dan, I wanted to personally thank you for all your videos, I got a positive call from the recruiting manager yesterday and all the interviewers in the loop voted for me. I’m now waiting for my offer. I would have not made it without your support. Thank you again!
Dan, Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I wanted to share I got the offer. Your videos helped immensely. I was asked many of the questions you posed and had plenty of your advice to lean back on for the ones that weren't in the videos. If you're watching these videos, you're in the right place!
These videos really helped me prepare/strategize my answers for LP questions. I was offered an L6 role last year, I almost forgot to thank you, thanks so much Dan!
Hey Dan, just wanted to say thank you. I will begin my career with Amazon in a few weeks. Needless to say that your videos helped me a lot with the 4 hours long behavioral interview. You are great!
Hi Eddy, can you share more of your interview experience? How many questions did you get per interviewer? Where there certain recurring theme in the probing questions you got? etc
@@supoashafa They asked me approx 5 to 6 scenarios per interviewer. Each interviewer was assigned to asked me questions about 2 Leadership Principles. They wanted me to answer with the STAR technique and wanted me to provide A LOT of data, due to Amazon being a DATA DRIVEN Company. They would also asked me specific questions about my scenarios like: Did you receive any feedback from you supervisor? Hoh did you calculate such an increase? etc. Basically they are assessing whether the scenario is truthful or not.
@@supoashafa I spent over 100 hours to prepare. I came up with 18 scenarios, each one could be used for two principles. I think that's the only way to do it without preparing too many scenarios that you won't remember.
Your video was very comforting and helpful as I prepared for my bar raiser interview. I felt less nervous and more comfortable after watching your video. Thank you so much for helping us all!!
This is the one stop shop to prepare for Leadership Principles before going to Amazon interview. I spent like an hour or two understanding each principle in detail and wrote down questions for each principle and prepared just this. I got exact same questions in interview. Thank you Dan !!
I generally don't write reviews because I am too lazy for it. But I should really thank you today for the way you have made difference. I am really impressed with the way you have made all these videos. I gave amazon interview twice once in 2018 and one in 2019 and I failed during my first round itself. Third time I dedicatedly saw all your videos and made note of it. I got through 1st round and now waiting for 2nd and last round's schedule. I will update once I am done with my interview probably next week.
Dan I would really give all credit to you. I accepted Amazon offer 2 weeks ago! I am so happy to learn about the format of questions from you! Thanks for the amazing videos!
Hi.. thank you so much for your valuable videos. This video has helped me a lot for my preparation. I got through the interview and I have got my offer in Chennai region today.. thank you again Mr.Dan Croitor....
Hey Dan, I had my Amazon Interview 2 days back and I received a job offer today. I really appreciate your help with these videos. Definitely helped in the behavioral round. How can I show my appreciation apart from sharing your content? Let me know your paypal or something. Regards, Mayank
Hello, nice videos, keep posting them. I only have a suggestion, please leave the text a little longer in order to be more readable without the necessity to pause the video
Hi Dan - one point that I hope is constructive. I notice you say "luckily enough" to transition into the result, and/or the bonus benefit at the end of the question, regularly. It's probably a verbal habit, so worth watching out for. In a way it diminishes your role in the outcome. Thanks!
I was here nearly 3 years ago to prepare with my interview for a Team Manager post which I happily got after 2 tries. This time I'm here again to check on some tips for my application as a Group Manager.
Thank you for your message Jerry! should you have any suggestions, please do let me know. This video is a bit old, I also covered this topic in newer ones.
Hi Dan..I tried finding you on LinkedIn but could not find your profile..I can't thank you enough for these videos..I am going to Join Amazon India and this would not be possible without your virtual assistant..I owe you..
@@DanCroitor a) A solid interview preparation with atleast 2 stories from our career on the 14 leadership principles each. b) Watch Dan Croitor's and Holly Lee's videos on RU-vid to understand the do's and don'ts. The array of questions and best practices on answers.. c) Be Authentic and original in your answers..Don't try to create something you haven't done as probing questions will follow. d) Avoid very long answers and stick to STAR method ONLY for answering all the behavioral questions. e) At the end of each round, prepare some ligitimate questions for the interviewers. f) Stat calm, answer with a Smile and as much as using your interpersonal skills to impress the interviewers. No one is all perfect, but how you stand out, your keenness, their principles your values -your workstyle amalgamation will definitely help you succeed. Remember it's okay to be nervous, have a weekness identified that you are working on or have coped up with.. THANK YOU DAN!!!
Hi Dan, great content! I see that each example you give is about 2-3 minutes. So is this a good rule of thumb for length of an answer to a leadership principles question? Or should the actual stories we prepare be longer and more detailed?
This is a great video. I loved it. But, I couldn't understand the answer to "Tell me about a time you received negative feedback from your manager" where is the negative feedback mentioned?
Through the behavior exhibited in the answers. The goal of the video was not to give you sample questions for each of these principles - you can find these in other videos.
Hi Dan, as an engineer, I feel like I never have customers at all. In this case, how are we are going to well answer questions relating to customer obsession?
thank you for your videos, however, i would appreciate more if you could offer some insights for people who are interviewing for non-programming roles and for entry level individual contributor position. i find it a bit challenging to relate to program management experience.
@@DanCroitor Yes, certainly, like business analyst. or business intelligence engineer, all Individual Contributor roles. no previous management involved. it more has to do with personal project/ personal accomplishments
How can a question like "give me an example of a time you faced a conflict while working on a team. How did you handle that?" be a question pertaining to the fifth leadership principle, i.e., "Learn and Be Curious"? .... This makes me curious ;-)
Hi Dan I had 5 years of network experience and due to visa issues five years of break. What could be the best approach and what are the question I could be asked.
Dan, I clicked your link for coaching and see that you no longer do the one-on-one video coaching. Is that correct? Is the 100-minute video your only offering now?
Hey Dan I am applying for a data associate - French position and I know that my telephone interview will be in French. My question is, will the interview carry the same type of behavioral and functional questions in addition to the leadership principles but in French language? I wonder if you could guide me on what to expect from the interview. Thank you!
I'm not sure I agree, mainly because the objective of this video is to give you an idea on the behavior specific to some specific principle. You have the links for each in the top comment.
It looks like sometimes the questions have nothing to do with the Leadership Principle, for example Learn and be Curious, question: tell me about a time you had a conflict working on a team? But thanks for the rest which sounds good
You are right to say it's not a good idea to take the questions as the types of questions to expect for that principle in your interview. The goal of the video is to showcase the behavior highlighted in that principle. There are many other videos to look for examples of questions for the principles.
Hi, Dan. Thanks for the videos and all the information you share. I have question. Can you pronounce the questions you answer. You show topics of coming answer on black background and people only can read it. It is not very comfortable. I mostly listen videos while hiking with my dog or drive a car. I don't have chance to look at screen during the activities. As results I lose critical part of your presentation. Thank you, one more time for your job. You deliver brilliant information.)))
very insightful videos. Question for you. IS there a tip or trick to relate a behavioral question to a principle? So when you hear it , you can figure out which principal interviewer is focusing and can emphasize on that in your answer? Secondly, is it even a good idea to relate the question to the principle at the time of interview ? thanks!
your prep should be focused on role-playing questions that are specific to principles during your prep, so you can link them easier during the interview; it is important that you link questions to principles during the onsite.
Thank you very much, Dan! I want to apply for a SDE1 role my background of sw engineering is through my freelance work (part time / after work). I HV been a full-time high school teacher for many years. Is it ok to include stories of my teaching experience or it should strictly be stuff about my sw engineering background?
I'd rather focusing on software when applying for an SDE (esp. entry level), and score extra points on the behavioral part through clear communication you have gained from your experience as a teacher
HI Dan, is changing my stream from Finance to marketing after completing my masters (MBA) in finance and becoming more successful and happy in my career a good risk story for my interview?
I watched the whole video, only con i would say is you reveal the question and let it disappear too fast. especially around frugatlity - dive deep questions. Other than that, everything is good! I got my interview tmw morning
@@DanCroitor Thanks i actually got an offer! Studying these questions did help a to overplan, but they really didnt go too much in depth with the tell me about questions. first was tell me about a time you had to make a quick decision and either needed to move forward or hold back for more info.
Dan, your videos are very helpful. I have an interview tomorrow with Amazon for Hr position. I would like to get an advice for you. The most important thing to take in consideration for tomorrow’s interview. Looking forward to hear back from you. Maria
W Pepper-Alston if I’m honest I don’t have any idea. We were 3 candidates and I was the only one with Canadian experience and education the other people one from India with just one month in Canada no experience and the other from Egipto no experience as well. My answers were based on the 14 principles of amazon so I don’t know 🤔
@Dan, a lot of peole do not have direct projects or contact with customers, for instance. Reporting analyst or sales analysis. How do you demonstrate customer focus.
if you think it does, in your case, then limit the times you use "we" - I have at least one other video where I explain this; I found using common sense be great advice
Hello Dan, am going to do a phone interview for graduate solutions architect next week, do you think is possible to come with an example for all those questions that comes only from my academic experience?
Hi Dan, I learn something when I see it in some kind of written form or diagrams. I can not while I listen it. Is there any book I can purchase or any website you posted these information? can you please recommend?
Hello Hang, It does not sound as though English is his native language, however he does a great job articulating himself. I work with developers from around the world and accents are never our issue nor is it expected to use complex words to 'sound smart'. As long as you can put your thoughts to words and articulate well you will be fine. I wish you luck
That's exactly what I want to discourage i.e. taking the questions out of context; the goal of the video is the behavior of the principle, not to drill for the questions.
Hi Dan, I had left my job after 13 months due to health reasons as I need to travel 120KM per day to office. I am planning to attend amazon interview in this regard could you please suggest how to deal with the question "Why I had left my previous job ?" could you please help me on this, can I just reply "Due to health reasons I had to left my job as the daily travel may lead to even more trouble to my health"..... Many Thanks, Sameer
Hi Sammer, you should answer with that precise reason; also ensure that you explain what’s good about the new job and why it is a much better deal for you, and for them (this last part would be the result of you STAR answer). Keep the answer around obe minute and you should be fine. Regards, Dan
Hi Dan, I am having an interview with Amazon next week. Please help with one thing, what is i don't have examples for every leadership trait Amazon have, how do i go around that to ensure i successfully crack the interview.
Hi Dan, I have an interview with Amazon next week. I have been preparing for close to a week. An interview last 45mins. If a question around the leadership principle is asked, for how many minutes should an applicant answer the question? That is, how long should the answer to a question be?
hi i have an interview coming up for entry level role data center technician in amazon. i dont have much examples, would you be able to give me as much example you can kindly, i would not mind for pay ur service, if it is affordable by me
Hi Dan on Thu I have an interview for an account manager position in Bratislava which requires German, which I came to know through a recruiter. The fact is that now my German is not as good as it used to and I'm afraid for what's going to happen. What do you suggest?
so to be clear, I've no idea to what extent they need German .. but if they do and you find that out during the interview, you can of course emphasize you can get it fluent in [x time]; my assumption was here that language isn't an important requirement for the role
@@DanCroitor it's a b2b account manager position with German. I really don't feel comfortable with it but I was contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn and I couldn't say no, it could be something I would've regretted and a turning point in my career.
