Year 7 is the same age as 6th grade in the US. Nick is in Year 11, Charlie is in Year 10. The ‘class’ Charlie is in isn’t a class: it’s form (ten to fifteen minutes at the start of every day where they take the register of attendance, usually called just ‘register’ here). At the start of the first series, the school moved to an experimental ‘vertical’ form system where each form group has multiple years in it. That’s how Charlie and Nick meet. The purpose of form isn’t educational: it’s pastoral. Your form tutor is meant to provide help if anything non-educational is wrong, and it’s a time to make and maintain social relationships too (which is why some schools tried vertical form groups). At the end of Year 11, all pupils in the UK take formal qualification exams called GCSEs (General Certificate in Secondary Education) in around 10 subjects (always maths, English language, English literature, and the sciences plus at least one modern language, with the rest made up of electives such as art or geography). These are standardised qualifications with the majority of the results in each dependent on an end of course exam at the end of Year 11. As part of how schools are assessed by parents and the government is based on these results, a lot of schools will force a bare minimum of revision for those exams. That’s what the Study Hall is. It’s happening in the gym because hundreds of students are hard to fit into a classroom. After Year 11, most students go on to Sixth Form taking 3 to 4 courses (called A Levels, where the A stands for advanced) that last two years. The courses they can take are determined by their GCSE results, and A levels determine which universities and their courses you can do. As you can imagine, these exams cause a lot of pressure to be put on the students by the school, their parents, and themselves.

Everybody should be assumed to be bisexual unless they claim otherwise. Straight people should absolutely have to come out 🤣

Fiction can be either a window or a mirror and I think heart stopper is both. Around 60% of guys become dads and every father could have a Queer child. So it’s great that you guys are reacting . notes for nick and cory: -theyre in the same form group, not class (like a register period) -their form group is diff years which is why theres young kids and old kids (nick is yr11 and charlie is yr10) -sex education is yr12/13 bc its a college, hence why its kinda diff (altho most yr11s in a relationship ik have porked)

I mean me and my boyfriend at least try to mention that it's X years and Y months, in august we just had our 9 year and 2 months anniversary. In my language there is a word for "monthaversary" though, so it's fine 😂 But it's okay if you don't do it, we were just in a long-distance for the first few years so we at least tried to meet around that date.

I recently watched their reaction to "Maze Runner." One of my absolute favorites. If I'd have taken a shot with every "gay" allusion they made regarding that film, I'd probably have died from alcohol poisoning. At least that's my recollection. Although there is a "gay" subtext in that trilogy, the films deal with issues even deeper than that. Anyway, it's interesting that they picked up on that aspect of the film so strongly. To their credit they did like the film, especially Nick, again, and it was an entertaining reaction overall. As far as "Heartstopper" goes, it's mainly the relationship the two main characters have and how fantastically well the two respective actors portray their characters that appeals to me. Believe it or not, I tend to forget the straight, gay, bi and what-not aspects of the series and just see two people who have gradually fallen in love with one another. Anyone would be thrilled to actually know someone like Nick or Charlie. There are people like that out there, but they're definitely rara avis. Nick going to Uni is going to throw a monkey-wrench into their relationship in Series 3 for sure. Let's hope it won't be too traumatic for us! Series 3 looks to be the finale, unfortunately. I would have liked to know more about Harry Greene and Ben Hope, though. Foils to main characters are quite interesting. Maybe there will be a follow-up series? The further adventures of Nick and Charlie?? But only with Kit and Joe. One can only hope.

I agree that they should react to the entire series 1 and 2. I don't know about Cory but Nick seems to like the show. Nick, the reactor, sounds so Canadian to me, yet these guys are in the US. I assume they're Americans. Of course, I know that Americans in the northernmost states and Canadians do tend to sound alike when they speak.
