My brother was unprovoked, attacked by 7 people in Manchester, police did not investigate. This same brother has recieved automatic fines for dropping cigs. I don't condone littering but I think British people are sick of the police's percieved priorities.
@markthesarcasticlawstudent
@markthesarcasticlawstudent 26 дней назад
Was it the police that issued the fixed penalty notice or the local authority (council)? Both have the power to do so, but it's far more common for the local authority to issue FPN's for litter, as it's ultimately their responsibility.
@DylanHart8
@DylanHart8 26 дней назад
That’s the purpose of the police nowadays, revenue collection through fines. Imo fines are the epitome of a 2 tiered justice system, it basically put a monetary price of committing crimes, because if someone can easily afford the fine, then they likely don’t care about breaking that law (ie. Speeding, littering, parking offences etc)
@AlDEN1999

The priorities of the police are dictated by government and fines produce money for the government, solving crime costs money. Government should be about managing the country for the benefit of it's subjects, not about juicing the countries subjects for the benefit of the government.
@Andrew-pd6ey
@Andrew-pd6ey 25 дней назад
@@markthesarcasticlawstudent I don't recall exactly but you're right I don't think it was police. Knowing my brother too it wasn't unprovoked. People talk about "trauma" of experiencing police and it seems some experience it second hand. Whether it's rightly or wrongly held people feel it. I think given the government tends to criminalise rather than legalise, people overtime will not feel less persecuted.

Yes. And I did chuckle a bit at the "voting" comment. Yes of course, use the ballot box for change, absolutely. But when successive governments of all colours (Red/Blue/Blue+Yellow) ALL committed to bringing net migration down to 10s of thousands (a sensible level) and then did the EXACT OPPOSITE, you can understand the building frustration and totally apathy towards the political system. Having said that - there IS now a party that is genuinely committed to getting immigration levels back to sensible numbers, and that is Reform. Hopefully at the next election they will gain some real power. Sadly, I fear we are heading to a future just like France - a deeply segregated society, effective no go zones for police, and a parliament split along immigration and nationalist policy lines.

I put a complaint in to my Crime and Police Commissioner with a complaint about Staffordshire Police a few years ago. We had "Travelers" cut the lock off the local park gates and entered with about 20 caravans. Over the next week or so they defecated all over the park, vandalised the facilities, set fire to park benches and tinder dry grass, dumped rubbish everywhere, threatened locals, robbed the local shops and houses etc. The police were present throughout but did not intervene as it turns out that their primary role was to defend the "Travelers" from enraged local residents that wanted their park back and for it to be respected. I tried the police first asking how many people they'd arrested for the crimes committed and after being deliberately vague confirmed nil. The basis of my complaint was the double standards being on display as were it members of the Caravan Club that took it on themselves to break into the park for a free place to stay for a week they'd have been treated very differently to those we saw doing far worse.

Unfortunately, there's a legal process councils must follow to evict them - and most councils aren't quick. I know a couple of prison officers quite well, both will tell you there's a huge amount of travellers inside. They seem to get away with a lot of low-level crime in my opinion, which admittedly isn't low-level to anyone on the receiving end of them.

A woman wakes up her husband in the middle of the night. She tells him there are noises outside and she is concerned about an intruder. He looks through the window and sees the beam of a flashlight in his shed outside. He calls the police to report the buglary. The police helpline tell him to make it sure the house doors and windows are locked but there are no response units available. An officer will be sent around in the morning to investigate. The man hangs up in disgust. Thinks for a moment and then calls the police back. He tells the police not to bother with the morning visit as he has shot the burgular and there is no more danger. Sure enough two police cars arrive within minutes, sirens blaring and the burglar has fled shortly before their arrival. The Police ask "Where is The body and the gun?" "There isn't any body or gun" is his reply. "Why did you lie in your phone call?" they ask. " Why did you lie when you said their were no response cars available, you started the lies" was his retort.

My elderly mother had been targetted by burglars on a couple of occasions while she was sleeping, luckily they skidaddled when they saw the lights go on and the panic alarm going off. A couple of weeks later she came home to find a burger trying to climb through the kitchen window, she took a cast iron skillet and started whacking him on the head multiple times, she was extremely frightened that they might come back, she called the police and was in a bit of a state, they did come out this time and sent a scene of crime team as there was blood on the pan and the window, they also told my mother she might be charged with GBH for hitting the burgler. They caught one of the burglars through DNA evidence and he tried to have my mother charged, his solicitor talked him out of it because he said it would look bad in front of the court and the media trying to have a 73-year-old very slight 9 stone woman prosecuted. This made my mother extremely ill, it was bad enough being targeted by burglars, as it happened, the house being a 4 bedroom 3 storey house and only my mum and her husband living there, they decided to sell the property and move into a 3 bedroom new build next door to my sister in a very quiet and afluent area. I was livid with the attitude of the police, they cared more about him being injured than my mum being half frightened to death

@@pup6728 From the Spectator. "In any case, Ms Spofforth is out on bail pending further inquiries. All this despite her acknowledging that her tweet was ‘a spur-of-the-moment, ridiculous thing to do’. Nevertheless, the same police forces that have not solved a burglary in half of the country for years are now policing unwise things people are saying online. One oddity about this is, once again, the two-tier nature of the pursuit. People like Nick Lowles, from the incorrectly named far-left campaign group Hope Not Hate, also published fake information online. That particular dolt passed around a claim (swiftly shown to be false) that a Muslim woman in Middlesbrough had had acid thrown at her from a car window. The post was seen by more than 100,000 people and led to Muslim men appearing on the streets in the belief that they had to defend their areas from racist acid-attack monsters. Yet so far as I know Mr Lowles has not had his collar felt, perhaps because he enjoys the government’s favour, as well as backing from prominent left-wing philanthropists such as Trevor Chinn. Kenan Malik of the Observer similarly passed around misleading reports in print and online this week, but also seems strangely immune from the law." Lowles was adding flame to the fire. Spofforth's text had a made up Arabic name that translates to "On Cheaks". Not much difference between posts so far as can be ascertained.

At the ground level officers instinctively know that they will be thrown under the bus if there is a whiff of racial bias - and so they tread very carefully. And now we evidently have two tier justice; contrast the rapid stiff sentencing for the recent rioters compared with previous rioters.

This is what I can work out after four days of taking an interest. Before the recent UK election, I was nowhere near the far-right; I am a strong advocate of classical English liberalism. It's being reported that 70% of those turbo - convicted re riots have previous criminal convictions. How many of those were recently released via early release schemes ? And has anyone analysed the potential of sabotage of protests being partly conducted by those released by agencies ( and given shorter total sentence) in exchange for doing a job for agencies ???? ( A speculative question , but one based on uses we know agencies have historically made of prisoners). ... And then of course violent aggressors from the MDL are not generally being reported in the official media ( to the extent that crowd responses to MDL actions are being deliberately misconstrued as misguided / ignorant responses to the dance party murders. That false impression being assisted by five eyes agents like CIA Tate retrospectively concocting the alternate motivator ). I'll summarise that for you. 1. You don't understand what people are calling 2 tier policing. The way they behave when facing two different crowds. 2. The police are not fit for purpose for normal crime. 3. The court system is acting in a way that favours the government. 4. People are pleading guilty at a higher rate because Starmer said they would be held on remand anyway. 5. The courts are operating on a two tier level, as the sentences for the Bristol statue rioters prove. 6. The police have plenty of resources to look for disagreeable social media posts, but none available for real crimes.

I would suggest that you may find that those prosecuted for saying things that aren't conducive to promoting progressive ideology may be have certain characteristics, while people who commit violent crines may have other certain characteristics. This issue we have today seems to center around feee speech issues and immigration. Stuff that goes against the prevailing progressive narrative and is more politically influenced than violent crimes. We can see this with the double standards applied between BLM rioters and the current ones. To my mind the BLM rioters should've been treated like the rioters today but they were and this set a precedent in the minds of the populace. Amd we niw have what we have today. two-tier policing is a breach of the following human rights under the ECHR which the UK signed: Article 6- Right to a fair trial, judges making "examples of people" with harsh sentences is not unbias or fair. Article 9&10 on (9)freedom of thought, conscious and religion remember the woman in birmingham arrested for silently praying in her head, and (10) freedom of expression, for simply saying something you'll get up to 3 years in prison half of that on license, Human rights being breached by a left wing authoritarian government... wow im so suprised

I highly doubt the gov can be considered very left wing unless they make a true effort to expand public services. Starmer has always come across as a conservative in socialist clothing, which was highlighted in some media by stopping winter fuel payments for the elderly. Human Rights Watch have already criticised this government and the last however, for continuing the public order and communication acts that allow sentencing as a result of potential offence, online or off. Making examples of people via heavy sentencing will be criticised too. The exact opposite of liberal values.
