I'm going to show you two ways to make a window with cardstock. First way, I'll show you how I set it up in Silhouette Studio and cut on the Cameo 4. Second way is cut by hand, no measuring (you will need one popsicle stick)The window cut on the cameo 4, I use my favorite heavy duty cardstock from Hobby Lobby. Its 110 weight. The window that I hand cut I use food packaging (cereal box). It's fine to use cardstock too. I just use Elmers Glue-All for both windows. Both windows are assembled and finished exactly the same.

Glad to see you were not cutting absolutely everything by hand!

Wow! Thank you for showing your cutting methods. Fascinating! I have saved over 40 popsicle sticks...the ones with a joke on them... Great tool!

Thank you, Laura for making these both ways. I struggle with my Cricut and designing things, not tech minded either. The popsicle stick works really well, I would never have thought to use one for that purpose! These turned out so cute! Thank you for sharing!

@@Lauras-tinyview The windows look so nice. I am so excited to see this project come together and can't wait to see how you decide to decorate it! I am waiting for my camera batteries to get here before I can film anymore. To be fair, the old one is 10 years old so, it's more than lived a good life.

@@MiniatureMadnessofcherylg2696 I was wondering why no video this week. I figured you may of had to go back to nights. Yes I’d say ten years was a pretty full life for that battery.

Hello Laura! Fellow miniaturist, card lover and Silhouette fan here 😊 Thanks for sharing your process! Just a few tricks that may help you save some time in the future: 1- you may want to check out Google for a free screen-recording app or software that works on your computer. There is even a Chrome extension if I’m not mistaken. 2- you may get those frames and borders with no maths involved with the offset function, that draws an inner or outer contour as thick as you want it to be, in one click 😉 3- you may also set up the exact size of the sheet you’re cutting from and visualize it on the cutting mat, cutting border included, so that you can safely optimize all the available space. 4- when the mat loses its grip, I just lightly spray it with some non-permanent glue (masking the edges first). This way I can keep using it until it’s really scored or cut into. I wash it with some dish soap, pat dry then spray, and you can repeat the process many times without the mat getting gross or anything. Just my two cents 😊 keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your experiences

Thank you for sharing. I have a Cricut and have really liked cutting things out that way. It is so much easier and everything comes out exactly as it should. Well, most of the time. I also love the way you drew out the windows without measuring. Great advice! The windows are really pretty.

There is very little chance I will ever have a fancy tool like your cameo, but its a fascinating process to learn about! Must be a bit of a sanity saver knowing all the pieces will be cut correctly and exactly the same.
@Lauras-tinyview
@Lauras-tinyview 2 месяца назад
It’s nice knowing they will all be uniform in size. Especially when it’s something intricate, that I need to layer up several layers to make it thicker. But then I have to glue the layers together lol. That’s where things can get a little challenging.

Hi Laura, I think those vertical and horizontal elements that you created on the glass are called ‘muntins’ (cute name hey?) Sash windows are ones that slide vertically to open. You have done a thorough job of explaining your window construction, including the low tech version which is very much appreciated.👏👏 I really like the mitred corners affect…very clever and convincing.

Thank you so much for letting me know that! I just knew someone would know. That is a really cute name!! To adorable to forget. I probably should’ve researched it but sometimes you just want to make it and don’t want to get into all that research.

Laura, this is brilliant❤ you made it super simple for dummies like me who hate measuring! I really love these (I have noticed some of the stars of the mini world have an aversion to measuring too, so they may not be as thick as me but I'm in great company lol!). Shyra at Queen City uses the double sided tape quite a bit. It looks really neat.

Glad it maybe helped with the no measuring. I hate to admit it but I love measuring, now that I understand my ruler better. 🤣😆 What I don’t like is math. I dislike it when I have to learn new math process to make something angles. I want to understand that better.
