Today we dive into another CURE song from "The Head On The Door" ! IN BETWEEN DAYS was the first single to be released off their sixth studio album in July 1985! What Do Ya'll Think ?! IG: reaction_extraction
I always say 'The Head on the Door' is the perfect place for casual or non-fans to start . It literally has every style of music they are good at - moody atmospheric songs, pure dance pop, quirky synth stuff, a few pretty hard rocking songs, and this classic jangle pop single - and every single one of the songs are perfect.
I so totally agree. THOTHD was also my first Cure album. I was 10 when this song came out in 1985. When I saw the video, I told myself, "I wanna be just like them."
This is probably my all time favorite song from The Cure. They have so many great songs though. Love that you mentioned Gene Loves Jezabel they'd make for some cool reactions. Back to The Cure though I think Plainsong is probably their most epic song.
You got the coolest dad in the world kid .... I say that cause we basically have the same taste of music... Gene love's Jezebel is one of my favorite band also. Cheers from Philippines!
The darker stuff IMO would be A Forest, Never Enough, Lullaby. The Cure is never stale and always satisfying! Thank you for these reactions. For more edgy, dark alternative from the '80s please try Psychedelic Furs: Sister Europe, Sleep Comes Down, All of This And Nothing, All That Money Wants. Siouxsie and the Banshees: Cities in Dust, Peekaboo, Happy House, etc.
all of this and nothing, beautifull song, and my time(same band) too, please try too, the chamaleons: as high as you can go, monkeyland and second skin, great and obscure songs
Also I love the fact that when the Cure were introduced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame none other then Trent Reznor Inducted him and it's amazing!
I think "alternative" is a bit of a broad term for bands like New Order and The Cure. I mean, sure, they were alternative. But more so they were New Wave, Post Punk and Gothic Rock. At least that's how I would categorize them. That being said, The Cure kind of escapes all labels. Which is one of the things I love about them most. I'd recommend for you to show Ty some of their darker stuff next: A Forest, Disintegration (maybe later), Pictures of You, Lullaby, A Letter to Elise, etc.
Your right 🇬🇧 the Cure are in their own category. Yes can’t wait to go darker with some Cure stuff. “Primary” “fascination street” “picture of you” or maybe even “The Kiss” (87)
@@reactionextraction Oh yeah, Primary is still very groovy. Dark, but groovy. Faith is one of my favorite albums of theirs tbh. The Kiss is probably the darkest one out of the ones you've mentioned. So twisted, but also kinda hot in a way? Love it.
Oh, you know they have tons of dark stuff, whether it be from Seventeen Seconds, Pornography, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Disintegration, etc.... I would suggest The Figurehead, All Cats are Grey, Faith, One Hundred Years, Sinking, The Kiss, If Only Tonight We Could Sleep, Plainsong, Lullaby, Fascination Street, Prayers for Rain, The Edge of the Deep Green Sea... I could go on forever :)
This is one of theirs that makes me both weepy at how pretty it is while also bopping around dancing to it…. Ooooo, going darker next time. I’m gonna be curious to see what you pick!
We are going darker next time, much more to come from them for sure & so many great songs to chose , but I though “ the kiss” would be a cool 😎 edgier vibe to show Ty 👍🏼
"Cure" моя любимая группа, да их и немного! Слушаю все их альбомы с юности, напеваю, помню наизусть 😌❗(но не пишу Вам на английском, не решаюсь🤭..) Прекрасно, что его голос, пение прекрасено сохранились, ищу и смотрю с удовольствием их концерты !
I once loved this song 100's of years ago(feels like it) 😁Still sounds great 😁 since dad mentioned Gene loves Jezebel ill suggest "The Motion of love" by them ☺
“Pictures of You” is a little darker and “Lullaby” is much darker & the video is down right creepy. 😁 Robert Smith wrote it based on a nightmare he had.
Alternative in the UK really meant 'Indie' = cure, Jesus and Marychain, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cocteau Twins. Try the Cocteau Twins 'Carolyn's fingers'. You'll be surprised.
Jesus & Mary Chain, Echo & Bunnymen were suprisingly popular amongst my friends here in America ... we spent a lot of time dubbing each others copies of their albums on cassette back in the 80's for sure ! 😎😎
I only remember “Fridays I’m in love” (don’t even know if that’s the title) and “Lullaby” from MTV back in the day, but I don’t like spiders so I listened and didn’t watch 🤣 I liked their style but never bought an album.
