This is such a great tie to get the tying incentive and ideas flowing again. It was one of your vids that got me so addicted to watching your artistry. I’m still amazed. I’ll save a run for ya whenever you feel like visiting the USA once this virus crud is under control. Until then, know I don’t comment on all your vids but do watch quite a bit. Cheers and stay hooked. Thanks much!!

Hey Davie, I Like this pattern more every time I see you tie it. I have tied a few of them. Finally figured out what darning yarn was and they come out much better now. Practice has helped as well. I have amassed an enormous amount of tying materials over the year of tying. I never would have thought I would be here just one year later. I am sure the supplier loves to see me coming. All the best to you and yours. God Bless, Sean

I am amazed at the incredible artistry that is exhibited with your work. I have been tying what I would call "user type flies" for nearly 50 years that have been catching fish just fine but in no way qualify as artwork such as these.. inspiring is the only word that comes to the mind of this old fisherman. simply Inspiring!

Hi Grant N, Over many years I have tyed many versions of this caddis pupa and this is the best one that I have came up with. The materials have changed a lot since I first started tying so you'll find this is what changes mostly..I simply look at the natural fly in it's different stages to get the shape and colour right.. All the very best Davie

Thanks for your suggestion I will keep practicing and am sure to find the middle ground. I did take one wrap around the bobbin and it seems to be working at present. So the bobbin is almost as loose as I can have it and one loop of thread keeps me from losing the bobbin down to the table. So far so good. Thanks for taking the time to answer. All the Best, Sean M. Hi Davie. Thanks for the reply. It amazes me you take the time to reply to all your questions and comments. That must take even more time than video editing! Thank you as well for giving serious thought and consideration to the answer to my question. I suspected that might be the case but wasn’t sure. I located the sparkle yarn but wasn’t satisfied with the colors. I doubted the antron would be likely to take dye well. Thanks again for all you contribute to the fly tying community.

I have just tied up a row of these for the coming season. I would be surprised if you haven't almost emptied the river on this pattern at some stage as it looks absolutely irresistible Davie. A huge thanks for sharing. No doubt it would be a performer on the lough as well. One thing I have noticed, quite by accident.. shine a UV torch on this pattern & watch those nylon eyes illuminate. If only we could see what the trout see.. Tight lines for the season ahead Davie.

How flies fly over continents ...... Your caddis pupas are such a KILLER in the rivers of South France PYRENEES ... very solid , and in the water the colors are perfect ! in 2 or 3 slight different colors i Certifie that they are a Must over here ...You can fish them classic wetfly down stream , Nymphing up stream and even make them slide top water in the evening .... one of my TOP 5 .. BRAVO

Love this fly! Had a day recently where Rainbows were taking Caddis Nymphs, but they would not touch any nymph I threw at them. I am sure this would have done the trick! Although I would do a greenish body, this fly is such a gorgeous tie for the simplicity of the steps involved! Thank you for sharing it.

I just love this fly! I have tied a few, and just now I figured out why mine doesn't look like yours in the body. I didn't use darning yarn. I just used wool so it has more fibres coming off the yarn and therefore looks messier than yours. I did tie it along with you so I wouldn't forget anything but I just heard for the first time. "This is darning yarn I dyed" All the best, Sean
