Deer hair work will always be a skill that baffles even the most seasoned tyers. There are constant improvements and innovations that make the muddler minnow look elementary. The best thing to do is learn the basics and build your foundation from there. I hope these tips help everyone out as much as possible.

That's awesome Mike, deer hair is certainly a love/hate relationship with most folks. Once you get control of it, it's really a lot of fun to work with.

Thanks Josh for all the help and advice given in your videos...its like having a mate on tap. I live in the UK where fishing streamers is not at all common. After all the restrictions are over I'm on it again with the results of your tutorials...Take care and see you later

Thank you, and I'm glad you enjoy the videos! I know a few folks in the UK that are big into streamers, but they share the same sentiments...its certainly not the norm. Hope the videos continue to help out.

This video really helped me out. Your tip on the collar is really gonna help me, I've been trying to tie the collar and head together and having problems. But, you have cleared me up up on that. Your collars look GREAT as well as all your work. Your really good!!!.. I'm leaning so, much from you. I sure would like this Video on DVD, do you offer any for sale on DVD??.. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Keep the Video's coming. Stay Safe!!..

Thanks Mike, I really appreciate it, and I'm glad the videos help out. I've thought about the DVD thing before, but I really haven't looked at the overhead/logistics of it. Maybe one of these days I will put one together on all of the different deer hair styles.

what makes you decide to do a spin/stack hybrid instead of purely a spin or purely a stack? and does the amount of hair you grab differ between the techniques? Sorry if you answered these in the video and I missed it
@varnersstreamers
@varnersstreamers 4 года назад
Michael, I typically spin/stack when I'm using only one color of hair for the tightly compacted heads. If I'm using two or more colors, I will go with a straight stack. For spinning, I use that technique when I'm tying heads that are less compact. I do grab more hair when I'm spin/stacking than all other techniques. Thanks for the question.
