Maybe you have a fly line that needs a new loop. You can do this. It might take you a few tries at first to get the nail knots clean and tidy, but you can do it! Take your time, get good light and you'll get it. The convenience of a trustworthy loop in your fly line is the best.

I've never seen this method. There's a lot I've never seen by the way. ;) I've got just the line that needs a trim. I'm digging through some colored mono right now. Thanks always for the content.

Why not use a heat shrink tube and a lighter to melt down the fly line doubled and create the same loop as in the factory?

We've had very inconsistent results with that.

Whatever happened to useing braided hollow mono? Guedebrod used to make it, i had a 50lb loop on a Tarpon Taper SA line for over 10years and i only replaced it cause i thought 'why not'....not cause it needed replacing

I have personally found that braided loops sink, are bulky, and hinge quite a bit. Not a bad choice if you are comfortable with these, but I feel this is a better connection.

Ahhh, so was that a wt forward fly line ? Isn’t that the end that goes to your backing ? And at the end of the spool were the weighted end gets the loop for your leader? 🤔

This loop was for the backing end that I tied here, this was a sink tip. You can replace either end exactly the same way.
