I used to hide because the nurses were really rude lol not anymore tho

The ones that hides for us are the lazy ones. Not entirely their fault but because we dont have CNAs, nurse students are so helpful for us. This includes starting IVs, doing EKGs, running labs down, chest compressions and so forth. Our ED is so fast paced and intense that it overwhelms them and they hide. Yikes! I guess they already know what field they dont want to go into;)

Theres a clinical in the ED? Damn. We dont get the chance to until our last sem od 4th sem lol. And that if you have a high mark

When I started nursing we all wore white uniforms and caps. I showed up with a really bad run in the back of my stockings (didn't notice it). The nursing supervisor sent me home to change. I always checked my stockings afterwards😄 Self-discipline was expected back then. She was a tough old broad but she loved her nurses and our patients.

My big issues with the question asker, is if the questions are relevant. If I've got 8 patients to sort out and you are asking about lunch, especially if I'm in the middle of a poo explosion, I've got a problem. But I'm nice about it, I generally say, let's come back to that, let's deal with the issue we have here. And yes it has happened. I've also had my student disappeared multiple times without telling anyone where they were going, so I wasted 20min wandering around asking if anyone had seen them.

Good to hear it gets better. I graduated in December and just about to start my first nursing job. My anxiety level is through the roof right now. I'm just hoping I'll be able to perform well enough, especially after all the virtual clinicals we had thanks to covid 🙄

Lol same. I wasn't called Jess the mess for the good majority of my life without reason. My level 1 clinical(we had one) was a total mess for me I got so nervous. We got this!! I believe us overwhelmed messes can become excellent nurses if we are confident and try our best.I think its pretty funny that both of us are in our second semester, are messes, and named Jessica. I feel less alone now. Wishing you the best for second semester!! 😊😊😊 You got this and I have no doubt you will be an amazing nurse!!

@Emily legit finished a clinical where the charge nurse had the cutest rose socks, I think its legit just another form of school rules bullpucky

I had a nursing instructor that made me take out a blue bow I had to tie my hair back. She also told me the very plain white chignon net I had in looked like “evening wear” and it wasn’t appropriate. We called her the dress Nazi.

@@Pulchadi1107 we have to do the same combo but in white. I was trying to say doing crocs when actually working though would be so much more comfortable. 12+ hours on floor is really uncomfortable

Wow. my program gave us the option to attend but basically said if y'all don't attend we can't promise that you can progress to next semester so basically we have to and the hospital I'm at doesn't test for covid in the ER or reg units unless they have symptoms so some of my classmates patients during clinical have had covid and just get an email from the school the next day informing them😳 they also didn't give us the option to not attend clinicals till our 2nd semester because cases are getting worse

I didn't have any clinicals at all for my first term. . .still got charged full price.

I'm in my first semester of nursing school, my "virtual clinical " starts next week ... still waiting on someone to explain how the hell that works 😒
